8 year veteran but gaining weight!
Writerjennifer replied to Modesta15's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Also, what surgery did you have? Full gastric bypass? -
The video my surgeon made me watch said that happens to 5% of patients, that it it's something to do with scar tissue at the opening of the pouch. It also said drinking a little warm liquid like tea 30 minutes before a mean and before bedtime helps to prevent it. shouldn't hurt to try? Good luck. Hope it helps

Weaning off my morning coffee
Writerjennifer replied to latido's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Re Migrain triggers... I used to get migraines 3 to 4 times a week. I got the book, Heal Your Headache, and when I was being good, reduced them to 1 to 2 a month. Then I slipped back into old habbits. Some of my favorite foods are triggers. :-( and if I were good at denying myself I wouldn't be on a WLS site. Lol -

Writerjennifer replied to latido's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums

PrevPac for H Polyri....Disgusting!
Writerjennifer replied to mswisdom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons office tests everyone for the h-pylori. Mine was a breadth test. My perfect was out of the prev pack so I had to take the equivalent in individual pills. I did notice a both of a metallic taste but it wasn't bad. The worst part it's I retest on the friday before my monday surgery (6-16). If I test positive again...they will postpone my surgery. And I'm alway doing the liquid diet -

It's true that the initial moving factor in getting this surgery for me was the fact that my insurance covers it. Second would be that I am over 40, and everything they say happens after 40 does, health wise I feel old, and am pre- all the bad health things that happen to obese people. But number three is definitely appearance, My husband and I have been married 17 years. We never had the big wedding. I have been mentally planning a vow renewal for our 20th, and I really don't want to buy a plus sized wedding dress. I want to wear a beautiful, tight, sexy dress. So I am doing this so I can look better too.

Getting tired of personal questions regarding my weight loss.
Writerjennifer replied to terry1118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the band name origin idea... REM, I think it was, gave a different origin every time someone asked how they got the name. I think I might have fun telling strangers different ridiculous reasons for the weight loss. like... I only eat oranges. I took up pole dancing Sex I haven't lost any weight *blink* Yeah, I found an awesome website that burns calories super fast. -

New Here...Question on 6 month diet...
Writerjennifer replied to jthomason1220's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're insurance is really the one that can answer these questions. Every insurance is different. My insurance required 6 months of weight management, and that was from first appointment with the nutritionist, + 180 days. I saw them weekly at first, but that was by my choice. But they would not write the recommendation letter until I had completed the 6 months. -

Its not a stupid question. Im not sure either. If you hover your curser over the persons user name under their profile picture, it should open a box. click the button on the bottom, to the left, that shows a picture of a head with a plus sign. If you're on an iPad/tablet, then tap (or double tap, not sure) on the persons user name and it should pen their profile page. the "add me as friend" button is on the right of the page. -

Non-scale Victory!
Writerjennifer replied to Sparklingbeauty53's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I just want to go to the misses or ladies section and buy something cute.... And have it fit... And not have to go to the fat lady section and have to choose between the tents covered in paisley or the clothes really made for skinny people that just look and feel terrible in big sizes. And pay more money because it's a larger size. I want to enjoy shopping for clothes. I want to buy heels and know I can wear them without killing my feet because my feet are used to dying in heels at 280+ lbs. I just want to stop seeing that look on the shop persons face when you have a question... like being big means you don't deserve respectful and good service. I just want to put on a pair of jeans and believe my husband when he says they look good -
Are they letting you have protien/meal replacement shakes? I think my program allows for shakes to be sipped through the day if more protien is needed or if we're not getting enough nutrition. I would suggest asking the docs office or nut

pI'm pretty much panicking too. Mine is tomorrow morning. Once it's done there's no turning back! It's natural. You guys can do this. It reminds of how I feel the 33 story drop ride at knotts . I'm fine getting strapped in. I'm fine when they lift us up. I'm fine untill we stop at the top and the ride pauses at the top... then I panic. Seriously panic. But as soon as the ride starts to drop the panic is gone and I am on the ride of my life! Good luck. You can do this!

Post-op food nightmares..
Writerjennifer replied to Cookiesgotthis's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I quit smoking, years ago, I would dream I was smoking. So many mixed emotions on that one. Pleasure from the easing of the cravings, then dispair and guilt because I failed again. Then such relief when I woke up and realize it was just a dream. I still have one every few years. -

I Am So Angry When People Think Surgery Is The Easy Option!
Writerjennifer replied to Tartan-Tiger's topic in Rants & Raves
It's funny how people seem to think dieting is so easy. Just 'push away from the table, tubby'. You wouldn't tell a drug addict that it's easy to quit, just stop taking the drugs. Well guess what, you can quit drugs, and you never have to do them again. But you can't quit food. You still have to eat, three to six times a day. Good people don't offer recovering adicts drugs, but have no problem offering overweight or dieting people food. Why are we seen as weak willed and lazy. If we were addicted to drugs they would embrace us for trying to change. -

Okie all you Junies.... Anyone who wants to add me as a friend, please feel free. Also, if you want to keep in touch via text or facebook, send me a private message. I have seen the other post-op forums go quiet pretty quickly. If we want to stay in touch, to share success, share losses, share troubles and anything else... Jennifer -
Anyone booked for 10th June?
Writerjennifer replied to MillyMollyMandy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to say, yes, it matters. You can't have anything except what the surgeon says you can. Because this is what I tell myself, knowing that aboslutes are easier for me to follow. Will it help you to know that some doctors don't require a pre-op diet at all, except for the one day of clear liquid and fasting required by all such surgeries? -
Good for you! You can do this! This of it this way... you're suffering now, but you will get rid of both addictions at once! this way you won't want to turn to cigarettes when you can't hav food, or want to turn to food when you can't have a cigarette.
