    Easter's Challenge

Don't feel sad! That's a great weight! I can't weight to get to the 170s.What is your goal if you don't mind me asking? Maybe is 135. So 60 more. Hoping to be there by next Fall or late summer. Good luck and keep up the great work everyone!!! ❤️ Thanks for the pep talk. My goal is 145 so I have about 30 pounds to go. Just haven't been focused on the plan the last couple of months and the weight is not moving and now creeping up due to poor eating and little exercise. Need to focus and get back on track but too much stress is curtailing my efforts. Good luck to you too. Hope we both hit our goals.
  5. I am in the same boat. Down 93 pounds and was doing great. Stressed out at work and the candy and chips are back in my life. I eat even though I am not hungry - just making dumb choices and not even hungry - it is emotional eating. I have gained back a few pounds and am scared I won't be able to stop. My focus and resolve are gone and I am not sure how to get it back. I want to hit 100 pounds by 9 months but only have a month now to do it. I know this is supposed to be my lifestyle for the rest of my life but feeling hopeless. Need to snap out of it but not sure how. Help!

    Stage 1 Diet Questions

don't worry about the numbers. just keep sipping. I don't think I hit 50 oz of Water and took in even less in Protein the first few weeks. Just drink what you can and keep sipping. Some days will be easier than others. Don't stress about target numbers the first month. Just do the best you can.

    I'm still hungry!

The first six weeks really are the hardest. Liquids are not filling so this time is a struggle. Each stage will get easier because the food will have more substance to it. Just remember you are letting your wounds and incisions heal so it is very important you stay on the liquids for the prescribed time. It will get easier. Just hang in there. As for the hunger, for me it is mental/emotional rather than physical. I am 7 months post-op and still deal with that. If you have physical hunger, hopefully once you are into the soft foods, that will get better. The one thing I loved during the liquid phase was chicken broth but not the plain stuff. I would get chicken Soup from a local restaurant and strain it. It was only broth when I ate it but it smelled great because of all the seasoning from the stock, chicken, etc. That may help. Good luck! This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Stay positive. You are doing great.

    My teenage sons

When I read your post, the first thought I had was "Are your sons straight A students?" I ask because their reaction is always out there - "Just lose it on your own. You don't need the surgery. You just need to try harder" So I think you should turn the question around. "If they are not straight A students, they should just try harder." Saying it doesn't make it happen and just because they want straight As doesn't mean they have the means to be successful. Some kids can get straight A's on their own, some can't. Some need extra help - (i.e. tutor). We are in the same boat - we need the extra help to succeed. Does that make sense? In no way do I want to insult your kids - just trying to put into a perspective/analogy that they understand. I am so grateful I had the surgery because I have now lost 80 pounds and there is NO WAY that would have happened without the surgery. I tried many times for many years. I was successful a few times but it always came back. Surgery is not a cop-out. It is a tool to help us be successful. I can attest that there is a lot of work involved. For me, the surgery forced me into the right mindset. It is not a miracle cure. I don't know if anyone can understand that unless they go through it. Good luck with your family. I think once you get past post-op and they see you can live a "normal life", their perspective will change.

once they had all the paperwork from the doctor, it was two weeks. good luck!
  22. wear very loose sweats/lounge pants. I bought a bigger size to take to the hospital. Don't even bother with underwear for the ride home. you will be swollen and want to be as comfortable as possible. preferably drawstring rather than a band. They give you a second gown when you walk - don't bother with a robe. Other than chap stick, the only other thing I used was the gas X strips and my toothbrush. Odds are you will be home by dinner time the next day. You will sleep a lot. If you have Nurse Olivia, she is fabulous - she was my favorite. The pain is not that bad. I kept waiting for it to be worse and it never was. Stay positive!!
