I had mine on Friday and took one week off but went in the Wednesday after surgery for a few hours for a meeting. Other than being tired no reason you can't get through the day at your desk. Unless you have complications or a really long commute which may tire you out before you get there. I'm surprised people take 4-5 weeks off. Minimal pain. Mostly just discomfort and you're tired. Try not to go back before Tuesday or even Wednesday. Monday definitely too soon. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How was your experience with Dr Schmidt and his office. I was going threw the process and insurance changed so now I have to switch surgeons. In going to the Advanced Lap seminar at St Joe's this week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App How was your experience with Dr Schmidt and his office. Anyone in New Jersey Use Dr. Ewing
I'mDoingIt! replied to taramarie523's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my surgery with Dr. Schmidt. He and the entire practice are fabulous. I picked him because I liked his demeanor when I went to the seminar. Looks like you have already done the seminar so hopefully you liked Dr. Ewing when he spoke and felt a connection. You're in good hands there. I go to the monthly support group meetings and have heard nothing but positive things about Dr. Ewing from his patients. Good luck with your journey! -
A question about clothing...
I'mDoingIt! replied to Sparkles!!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say hold on to them until they are too big. At this point I have basically given away 90 percent of my wardrobe to goodwill. I love putting the clothes on and seeing they are too big and then putting them in the bag. I go through the closet every few months and always find new things to give away. Helps me mentally to see the progress. Even though weight not changing as quickly still losing inches. Some of the clothes still work even though they are a little big. I kept one pair of jeans and one suit to remind me of where I started. I actually wish I had kept the pants and top I was wearing when I took some "before" pictures for myself. Would love to put them back on and compare! Agree with other posters that you should not buy a ton of stuff while you are losing. I'm almost 2 years out and closet is only 1/4 full. Time off for 360 body lift
I'mDoingIt! replied to nursejenny07's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
For all who responded to this thread - I have started the process for a 360 body lift. Wasn't planning on even trying to submit to insurance. Did any of you get it covered and if so what made them say yes? Thanks! -

MY SURGERY IS TOMORROW!
I'mDoingIt! replied to PennStater920's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
congratulations! There is already so much info on this board about your hospital stay that you've probably already read. Just don't bring ton of stuff - remember your chapstick and gas x strips - and get up and walk walk walk as soon as you can. Let us know how you do. GOOD LUCK!! -
I always dreaded Memorial Day weekend. The weather turned nice, I pulled out my summer clothes, they didn't fit, and I would kick myself for not having "done something about my weight" over the winter. Last year my size 20 capris didn't fit (went out and had to buy size 22s). Today I was at Kohls trying on a pair of size 10 shorts and they fit. Still in an XL in some things and a 12 in most of my clothes, but a 10 fit on my body!! I attended my first meeting for WLS in June last year and had my surgery a few months later. It has been an amazing year. I have lost a little over 100 pounds. I am run/walking my first 5K in a few weeks. Most of my old clothes are gone from my closet. My thighs don't rub together. I don't cringe when I see a photo of myself. Had lunch with an old friend and they literally did not recognize me when I sat down at the table. I am off my HBP medicine after a decade of taking it. I am HAPPY. I still struggle with food. Ate ice cream last night too close to bedtime and was throwing it up a few hours later. Still don't work out as much as I should or drink as much Water as I should but I am DOING IT and I am moving in the right direction. I am SO HAPPY I did this. Thankfully I did not have any major issues and overall it has been a very positive experience, For those reading this board and still thinking "should I do it" or "about to do it" - ask yourself where will I be in a year and can WLS help me be in a better place. If the answer is yes, then move ahead. For once, I am looking forward to seeing where I will be next Memorial Day. Hoping when I try on my clothes from this summer, they will be a little loose.

161.5 didn't make goal but came close and the scale is finally moving again. Felt like I was gaining and losing the same 2 pounds for the last month. Hope there is a summer challenge!!

Condensed Protein Shake
I'mDoingIt! replied to jm726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
first i am shocked that you are already getting 80 oz of Water a day. that's amazing. don't worry if you can't get it all in each day. you should be building up to that goal. As for the Protein, no issues mixing with water. get t down any way you can. good luck!! -
