I have been on reflux medicine for years. It has always bothered me during the day. For the past 6 months, it has moved to nights. My PCM has changed my meds and I am now trying a 3rd as of today. I literally wake up some nights choking on acid. I have a wedge under my mattress to keep my head elevated. I finish eating and taking medicine at least 2 hours before I go to bed. I finish drinking about 1.5 hours before I go to bed. I have to eat very small meals and make sure I don't have any PBs during the day or I know I am in for a LONG night. I need to drink more water because I know that helps and I am working on it. I don't think it is related to my lap-band but I thought I would see if anyone is having similar troubles. My lap-band doctor said he would have been worried that it was a slip if it happened consistently but it doesn't. Any thoughts?

Hi, I just started using myfitnesspal yesterday. I have had a long journey (08/2008) with the lapband and would get it again tomorrow but I would certainly do some things differently. I am tutornmom on myfitnesspal as well. Does it track fats and carbs or just calories?

Thanks everyone! I have gone back and forth over that last year with my band more empty than full. I am now back up to 4ccs. I am going next week to go up a little more but that will be it due to the reflux. I am completely off reflux meds right now and never have issues. I have gained a great deal of weight back during this year partially due to this but also because I stopped my Wellbutrin. I am back on Wellbutrin and losing again. We, the surgeon and I, have just got to find the right fill in the band. I don't want to go back on meds for reflux so if I get a fill and start having trouble again, I will come back to 4ccs and stay. Thanks for you input!

Almost 2yrs and 100 lbs with neck and shoulder pain
tutornmom posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I don't post very often. I usually just read but I have a couple of things going on and I can't find any posts with information about them so I am seeing if I get some response. I am having neck and shoulder pain. I see a chiropractor regularly. I exercise. I do sit at a desk a great deal for work but this is more than your normal fatigue. I have had an MRI of my neck and they just saw mild degeneration which would be normal. My chiropractor says that my body is having to adjust to my constantly changing weight. I am wondering if it could be related to everything hanging in front. I would love to hear if you have had similar problems. What I can do? What I need to ask the doctors? I need some relief and I am not able to take n-saids (arthritis medicine) and really have to limit the amount of tylenol I take. Thanks! -
Almost 2yrs and 100 lbs with neck and shoulder pain

After several adjustments, I have finally gotten past the constant shoulder pain. I am taking a migraine prevention medicine again but I am about to go on a glutten and casein free diet to see if that will help with the migraines and some other issues. I need to be exercising more and I know that would help as well! I still love my band! -
We live pretty close! This is the best thing I have ever done for myself and my family! Message me if you have questions or need to talk or whatever!

I had mine out on 9/2/10 and was on my feet again in no time! My port area did stay sore for awhile and what I could eat was limited for a while. It did take a while to get to full strength but I have been under a lot of stress and had a lot going on so it was probably more than just this surgery.

Surgery date is 6/1/10!!!!!

Something would be wrong if you weren't anxious. I will pray for you! It has been almost 2 years for me. I was thinking right up until surgery that I had lost my mind but I have not regretted it. -
Reasons I'm Thankful for my Band (add yours)

I can ride any roller coaster I want to ride! In just a couple more lbs, I will weigh less than everyone in my family! I don't feel like I have to hide behind people and things in pictures. I could name hundreds but those are probably the best for today! -

I am not really sure how to join other than just posting but you and I may be the only ones still out here. Around the first of the year most everyone that had been active seemed to drop away - many had reached their goal or were frustrated at not reaching their goal. I have been thinking of finding another group to find support in but haven't had much time to do anything about it with my teenagers schedule this spring. I would be glad to try and support each other. I have a goal set for Memorial Day weekend (US) then I will be setting one for my anniversary day in August. Of course, I already know what that goal is but I may shoot for a little higher than I had originally planned. How are things going with your lapband? My FIL asks me about once a month when we go out to eat if I regret it. My answer is always the same - I would do it again tomorrow - even when I have days like yesterday. Hope to hear from you again! -
I may not get any takers because we all seem to have fallen away (either meeting our goals or whatever) but I have to try. We have 12 weeks until 5/31 (Memorial Day in the US) which is the unofficial start of summer. Let's set some goals for our summer bodies. I am setting my goal at 12 lbs which is 169. This may not sound like much to you but for the slow go I have had the past few months and fact that I am facing the very real possibility of an unfill (severe esophagus issues), I think it is a big goal. I can do it! We can do it! Come ladies and gents! Get motivated, get moving! We CAN do this! :smile2: Starting weight 181 Goal weight (for this challenge) 169

I know no one joined the challenge but maybe someone will be encouraged. I am still losing slowly but surely. I may make this goal because my feet are finally well and I am exercising again. We will see 3 more lbs in 2 weeks.

WOW! That is great that you are at goal and now have a new one! I still have some to go! The old folks in my church are fussing and saying I have lost enough but it feels good and I am not done yet. -

Isn't it mixed emotions!?!? It is great to be where we are!!! Down so many pounds!!! But we still want a few more to come off and seeming to struggle for every one now. I wouldn't go back for ANYTHING! My family went to an All you can eat Chinese place last night and everyone left miserable except me. I had my soup with 4 or 5 chips and one shrimp and half of one of those other stuffed things I like and it was plenty, I was satisfied. I love feeling satisfied. I don't remember feeling satisfied when I was a size 26W and now I eat like a bird and feel satisfied. It is great! Keep up the good work! We will make it! Remember according to every statistic I have read the 3 year mark is the one to watch! -

Hi all, Glita - I was down to 183 between Thanksgiving and Christmas but went up again to as much as 189. I am back down to 184 and my goal is 149. I am not giving up but I am also to the point that I think I have got to start doing the work and not just relying on the band. I am not getting another fill right now due to GERD problems. I need to get back to exercising. My foot injury really set me back. I am going to start using the Daily Plate again to track my food. It is the easiest food and weight tracker I have found and really helps me see what I am doing. I say HANG IN THERE. We have come a long way and who would have ever thought we would be here. We can finish this! -
I don't know anything about Arimidex but I have not slept in my bed a full night in a month. I take a prescription reflux med plus some OTC and other home remedies like not eating after certain times and I still choke half the night if I lay down. We have even elevated my head of my mattress but it isn't enough. I still end up trying to sleep sitting up until around 2 a.m. and then I can usually lay down the rest of the night. I have talked to my doc. She changed my meds. I am going today to get some OTC meds instead of the RX because my BIL who has had surgery for GERD says it is better. I am also headed to the health food store to see what they say. I would like to get another fill but I don't think I can until I have this resolved. I would love any input on this as well.

HI! I still have a ways to go as well but my goal is to meet my final goal in 2010. This means that I have to lose around 35 lbs this year. I am struggling getting back into exercising after my foot injury but it is happening. I am also struggling with severe GERD. I literally can't lie down at night. I have to have my head elevated or I choke all night. I am on medication and I do not eat a big meal at supper and I don't eat for at least 2 hours before bedtime but I am still struggling. I would be curious if anyone else has this problem. I haven't had a fill since 09/09 but my husband says no more fills until the GERD issue is settled. I too started at 26-28 but I am only comfortably down to 14-16. I can fit into a 12 but I am not comfortable in most of them. Most importantly is that I feel so much better, I have more energy and more confidence. My goal is 3 lbs. per month this year and I can do that. My ticker doesn't show it, but I put some weight back on during the holidays. I should be gone by the end of this month and I will be back on track. All of you still with me in meeting your goal - hang in there! We can do it! This is a life long committment to stay healthy.

Hi all, I didn't come even close to my goal. In fact, I gained 5 lbs from 12/12 to 1/2 but I am confident that now things will turn around. I am going to get back to exercising this week. I want to be down to 175 by Valentine's Day. I can do this...no...WE can do this.

I need a serious sugar/carbs de-tox (damn you Starbucks for your comforting seasonal Hot drinks and Cranberry Bliss Bars!!!! lol) I have to say AMEN to the Starbucks comment. My students know I love hot drinks especially coffee so I got several gift cards and I have already spent them all! Those cranberry bliss bars are amazing. I only let myself have one if several of us are going to split it. The scales have not been my friend but as most of you know. I don't record when I am going the wrong direction. It will turn around soon! Hummingbird, I have the same problem with fine hair and hair loss. Thank goodness my hair is curlly so it looks like I have more than I do. My doctors both said that the loss is more due to lack of calories than anything. I found the MyDailyPlate on the LiveStrong website really helps me keep track of eating and eating healthy without too much sugar and carbs. Just a thought! Also, the other post earlier that said it gets better the further you get from surgery was right. It has gotten better. I do take a hair, nail, skin Vitamin like you mentioned as well.

Hi all, WOW! We are all too busy! No posts since 11/28. What happened to us?? My weight loss has really slowed down but I am still headed generally in the right direction. I haven't given up on my goal but with 16 or 17 days left I don't know if I will get 4 more pounds off. I will never give up!!! I still can't exercise due to my foot injury. I should be able to start slowly again in January. YEAH! Oddly enough, I really miss it! Let's do this! I will be 42 on Saturday and I want to be at final goal by my 43rd birthday so I need help staying on track!:willy_nilly:

Hi all, Start 187 Last Week 186 Yesterday 184  It is moving along. I keep thinking it will stop anytime because I can't exercise (I ruptured the medial band of my plantar fascia or in English I hurt my foot ). I have an NSV as well - I just got into 16s at the end of September and have been given a closet full but they are ALL getting too big! YEAH!!! Maybe people will give me money for clothes for Christmas! I think they feel sorry for me wearing my baggy clothes but I don't want to spend lots of money on clothes I will only wear for a couple of months.

Hi all, I am in if you will let me. I just can't seem to get out here every week anymore. Life is too crazy. My starting weight is 187. My primary goal is 179 which is obviously 8 lbs. :cool2: I wish I could get to 175. I will do my best to get weekly updates out here. I need your support and I want to be there for you! We can have a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas without eating ourselves silly!!!

This didn't happen with my lapband but did with my second son. My doctor said I needed to stay another night. The insurance and business office said I had to go home. Two weeks later I got an approval letter for the second night. I called and asked if we could go back?? LOL I know your situation isn't funny but is actually very frustrating. Our God is about all the details so give it to Him. He is bigger than this!

Hi all, I didn't record my starting weight but I did say that 195 would be 11 lbs and I reached 188. I guess that means I lost 18 lbs which feels great to me. To those of you who are beating yourself up for only a few lbs REMEMBER I got a fill at the beginning of this that was truly WAY too tight but I didn't let them take any out. My results are strictly the band but it still feels good. I think we need to start a Christmas or New Year Challenge. These really help me stay focused and get out here to keep track and I need that. The August All-stars have really fallen away and I need to keep weighing in with someone because this is the only support group I have.

Hey all, Loss this week down to 192. I felt like I was still eating way too much junk but I guess exercise made up for it. I might actually make that goal of 190 but it isn't likely because we are going out of town.
