    Friday Morning Weigh-in May 29th

I gained this week but I have a thing I don't change my ticker because then next week I would count it as a loss and it wouldn't technically be but I went from 221 to 223 this morning. I was weighing 219 until yesterday morning when it jumped but I noticed that since Wednesday evening my left leg has been swollen so I don't know why I am holding on to that Water but I am. I had an NSV today! I ran 1 mile in 12 minutes. That is the fastest mile I think I have EVER run (even when I was a child because as a child I couldn't make it a whole mile). I am trying to get to 10 but 12 is better than 14 last week! I run outside so I don't have a treadmill to push me. Have a blessed weekend!

Thank you Lanakilla for saying what I was thinking! I love this country in spite of its short comings. I am most grateful to those who gave their lives in order that I could enjoy the freedom and bounty we have. I am proud to be an American!

    ran first nonstop 5k yesterday

I am working on getting my time down to this. I did my first 5 K on Saturday but in about 45 minutes. I am trying to get to running 5 miles straight in 3 weeks because that is when I start marathon training. I am planning to run it is December 09 and be very close to my goal weight by that time. I made this decision over the past few weeks. I can give you lots of reasons but the bottom line is I decided that if I am going to make this weight loss a permanent change in my life then I need to really change who I am and the old me would never have even considered running a marathon. I really had fun with it Saturday. I live in a rural area and run through cotton fields essentially. The farmers thought I was crazy running in the rain.

    Anniversary Challenge

Well, I didn't make my first goal but I did have a good loss this week. I have recounted weeks and I am redoing goals. My new goal for 7/4/09 is -11 lbs (210 lbs). My goal is the same for my anniversay date -11 lbs from 7/4/09 (or -22 lbs from today) - which is ONEDERLAND!!! I am pumped up! I have started training for a marathon. I will take the next 3 weeks and train like I am training to run 5 miles in an hour (I am at 4). Then I start a 26 week marathon training program. Then I travel to my sister's next December and run my first ever race/marathon all at the same time! I might cheat and run some 5K and 10K stuff in the fall because they are big around here. I hope everyone is finding success even in your failures. I was reminded at a recent graduation. That Abe Lincoln had many failed businesses, Michael Jordan has missed at least 26 would have been game winning shots, Babe Ruth struck out almost twice as many times as he hit home runs. We can not succeed if we don't attempt and with attempts come a few failures. We just have to hang on to the victories.

Friday Morning Weigh In May 22

Hey all, I haven't lost in a few weeks and life has been crazy so I haven't even posted but I had a loss this week and big 3 lbs. FINALLY! I have actually started "running" everyday. I am a Biggest Loser fan and they did a marathon so I have started training for a marathon which I will run in December. The plan has easy and hard days but no days off. I think it really made a difference this past week and I am looking forward to seeing many more of those!

    Anniversary Challenge

I am doing pitifully so far. I didn't even post last Friday because I was disgusted that I didn't lose and since then I have actually gained. I am working hard in my exercise and not eating tooo much just not the right things. I haven't been shopping lately (due to the budget) and we are just eating what is in the house and it hasn't been good. I am going to get this together! I will not be discouraged even if I don't make the goal, but I will be more motivated to make it next time!

I know my goals are big ones but I really want to be to onederland by my anniversary and I am really kicking in with exercise since school and tutoring will not be so crazy.

    Friday Morning Weigh-In, May 1, 2009

Hi all, No loss this week but I have had a couple of victories. I didn't have a gain this week as I have come to expect (PMS). Also, I jogged over a mile (almost 1.5 miles) during my 3 mile walk yesterday. I have NEVER been able to do that. I have set a goal to do a 1/2 marathon in the Music City Marathon next April. I was inspired by the Biggest Loser TV show. I have been disappointed in myself this week because I had gotten in the habit of doing TDP and it was helping but I haven't done it in a week. I rarely sat down at my computer for more than a couple of minutes all week. See you next week with a loss!

    Friday Morning Weigh-in, April 24th

I am 2 lbs (almost 3 but I don't record the decimal) down this week. I am doing the Happy Dance. That is the best week that I have had since September. I think recording my food on MyDailyPlate is really helpful. I am also working out more and harder. I did a frontal workout yesterday with a Jillian Michael's DVD and I am sore from the waist up today but I think that is great. I also had an NSV that is significant to me. My 16 year old daughter is slightly overweight and has Pervasive Developmental Delays. She has lost 10 lbs (down to 170 from 180) since I got my lapband. She is not really dieting but we are all trying to be wiser about our food and exercise choices and it is paying off for her.

    24 hours post op

Hi Katie, The key is walking. Get up and moving as much as you can but don't try to do more than walking. As far as eating, while you are on liquids, you can litterally drink anything you want, anytime you want. I did make sure to drink at least a couple of high Protein drinks a day (this helps with hunger - Slim Fast Low Carbs are my favorite in a can but I also made smoothies with protein powder) and I avoided high calorie stuff like ice cream (for the most part). I probably had a shake every other day or so and I still lost over 10 lbs (I think close to 20 but my logs were lost with a computer crash) while I was on liquids. The important thing for me during this time was to be sure I wasn't too hungry and feeling deprived because I couldn't have solids. I can't really tell you how to do the signature thing. It took me about 3 weeks to figure it out myself.

    No Lap-Band for now.

I don't know if you will get back on to read this but I wanted to encourage you to keep trying on your own. My loss with the band was very slow until recently I started using MyDailyPlate. It is on the Livestrong web site. I am not a Lance Armstrong fan but I am a DailyPlate fan. I have tried to use several of the online food trackers and was never able to stick with it because it took too much time or whatever. MyDailyPlate is great. It helped me set my target calories and tells me how I am doing with that plus it tracks fat, carbs, sodium, and Protein information which are all keys to weight loss as well. I need my protein's to be high (100% or better) and the others to be under 100%. Focus on nutrition (including water) and exercise and you should see improvement in your health even if you don't see weightloss.

    am off the rails again.

Canadiangirl is on the money - we are all different. For a while, I was beating myself up because I was losing so much slower than other people on here. My doctor is very conservative with fills and will not do fills any closer than 30 days and then if I am losing more than 1 lb per week, he won't do a fill. I talked to my doctor about it and read a good book about the band and now I understand more. Losing slowly is not a bad thing. Taking the fills slowly is in fact a good thing because I am learning a new lifestyle in baby steps. I have found that after a fill I almost have to go back to liquids for a few days and then mushies and then start some solid foods. Even then from day to day how much I can tolerate changes. The past few days I can hardly get anything down before I am full and it has been over a month since my last fill. One other KEY for me in avoiding sticks is taking small bites. I try to think about putting a small bite on my fork and then only take half of that. I have heard many people talk about chewing and it is important for me to the most important for me is small bites. I hope all that helps! Hang in there! I loaned my book out and I can't remember the name but if you are interested in knowing the name, let me know and I will find out.

    Post your NSVs

I think I have said this before but at the time it was just something I could do on good days. I can where my engagement ring again. It was given to me by my DH who was then a high school sweetheat which was 21+ years ago. I haven't been able to wear them in at least 14 years. This is pretty satisfying for me!

    Friday Morning Weigh-in, April 17

WOW! Congratulations on your goal! I am moving much slower which is a little disappointing but I guess the tortoise did when in the long run. I am looking for the long run. I did go down one to 226 today.

    Struggling badly...

I hope this is encouraging but it might not be. I have only lost 39 pounds but I am feeling pretty much successful because I am doing it a little at a time and the books I have read say that is the way to keep it off. I did recently start using MyPlate at www.livestrong.com and it is great. It helps me see immediately where I am messing up with my eating. I didn't even realize that I had not done well yesterday but when I put it out there I was almost 500 calories over my goal. I haven't been using it long enough to see long term rewards but I believe I will. I also have trouble with soreness around the band/port. I have learned some things that help. I don't sleep on my stomach anymore even if I can get comfortable because I will hurt the next day. Yes, I miss sleeping that way because it used to be the norm for me but my chiropractor always fussed at me about it and now my band does so maybe this is one of those changes I needed to make like changing my eating habits. Another thing that plays a role in this soreness is food sticking. For me, I have trouble with sticks when I take too big of bites or when I eat gummy bread and almost everytime I eat meat that isn't processed without chewing it to death after taking little tiny bites. I have learned that I am good at chewing well and taking small bites when I eat smaller meals more often. My husband and I joke that I don't eat any meals instead I eat 4 to 5 Snacks a day. Because of a family function, I was ravenous Sunday before we ate then I ended up sick all afternoon. I do have the trouble with feeling that my food isn't going down even through my esophagus. One thing that helps me with this is taking my reflux meds which I didn't think I needed anymore because I never felt the burning. Usually that is too large of bites or the wrong foods as well. I have found that it is worse in the morning. So I eat liquidy things until about lunch time. I read that this is because of the way my band settles while I sleep. I don't know but I do know that I made the right decision and wouldn't change a thing because all of these changes are changes I needed to make and would never have done it without the band. I hope that helps! Try one of the food tracking things online and be honest with yourself about everything you eat. Also, don't forget to exercise. I know it is hard to find the time and energy but you will have more energy afterwards so start moving. (that little exercise pep talk was for me!)
  16. He is Risen! Risen Indeed! Thank you Heartfire for your inspiring words! I didn't make goal but I am not completely disappointed in myself. I really ready to get serious about tracking food and exercising. I need to do better with exercising but I did get 3 days in this week. I started using the daily plate tracker and although calorie wise I don't do so poorly, I do see an imbalance already that I will be working on. My goal was 225 and I am at 227 (oh so close). I am not good at keeping up with things but I wish someone would start a Memorial Day, Start of Summer (6/21/09), or 4th of July Challenge. I like the challenges!

Friday Morning Weigh In: April 10

Lellow and Brad! You are my inspiration! I have a 16 year old daughter who is thin enough but not as thin as the doctor's would like but passing her on the way down is one of my goals because I think it will inspire her to go with me! By the way, I didn't get my weight in yesterday so "drum role" After two weeks at 228, I am now at 227.
  18. I am not going to make goal either. :tt2: I thought I would Tuesday because I was at 226 and 225 is my goal. I have been doing pretty well with my eating this week but I started working out again and have some strange stuff happening health wise and my weight has actually crept upward since Tuesday. I am planning to be very watchful of my food today and try to get in a good walk this afternoon and see what happens tomorrow! No matter the outcome! I am blessed beyond measure to serve a Risen King! He is my Passover Lamb so that my sins have been covered by His blood! Thank you, Jesus!

    Onederland!!!

Onederland and a body lift sound like a dream to me! You all are really an inspiration for me. I know that I can do it because I see that other people are doing it! I will get there. My doctor really likes slow weight loss (I know I could be more determined to make it go faster on my own) so things have gone slower for me but if I don't make onederland by 7/4 (Independence Day in the US) then I definitely want to be there by my first anniversary (which is the goal approved by my doctor). I really want to do better than that because then it will leave 50 lbs for me to lose in the second year to be at goal by my 2nd anniversary (another one of my doctor's goals). Keeping reaching for those GOALS!
  20. I honestly don't remember where I started and I don't keep good records but I think my goal was 225 and I still have hope; only 3 more pounds and I think with the fill I just had and being at home this week and able to exercise, I am going to make it. I have been sick and I do have to go back out of town next weekend but I am hoping neither of those is going to slow me down this week. I need to meet this goal. My personal reward for this goal is a professional haircut and color and with the grays piling on I need it! I know the Bible says that gray hair is a crown of wisdom but I am not ready to be that wise.

    Friday Weigh-in: March 27

Last week 229 This week 228 Only one pound but considering I was away from home with no scales all week and just got to weigh this morning. I will take one pound.
  22. I thought I had previously posted that I wanted to do this but I can't find it. I am really no good at the forum/group stuff. My current weight is 229. My Easter goal is 225. I actually hope to make it before Easter because my reward for 225 is a professional haircut and color.

Friday Morning Weigh In - March 20

I had said that I was going to start posting this Friday and then forgot it yesterday. I was back down to a previous low of 229 yesterday. Only going down now!

I forgot the best one! I wore my original engagement ring (24 years ago) to church last Sunday. It is not lose enough to wear all the time but I am getting close! I haven't had it on in 14 years. I think my knuckles are too big for the wedding band because it was always about a 1/2 size too small but we will see.

Mine would mimic most of yours - size 18 New (thrift store) clothes - I hadn't done this in years and I made myself wait until I could buy 18s. It feels good to have new clothes. Cross my legs in comfort BEST OF ALL - I fit into my husband's arms again!:tt2: I can pick something up out of the floorboard on the car without opening the door and getting out! :tongue_smilie: I can walk by a table full of food and not want some of everything! I am almost ready to see my husband's aunt who called me fat about a year ago in front of a room full of strangers.
