    Halloween Challenge

Hang in there Heartfire and MistyD! It sounds like it is the season for being stuck on eating the wrong foods! I am right there with you. The only reason I have lost so much in the past 6 weeks was because I got too much of a fill. I got in the habit of eating whatever I wanted if it would actually go down but now I have to readjust to eating like I need to eat. I did better yesterday and prayerfully will do better than that today. Just think where you are today compared to where you were last year. I put on one of my favorite shirts from last year in trying to clean out my closet. It wasn't just too big. It literally looked like a sack. I was weariing that shirt last winter and feeling good about it. We have come too far to give up now!

    Halloween Challenge

Where is everyone? I knew that I had been away; I have just had too much going on but I wondered why I wasn't getting email updates. I finally got out here to check and no one is posting. I made my original goal of 195 but I am not sure if I will meet the second one I set. I am on a sugar kick and I can't seem to stop.:cursing: Hopefully this to will pass! Please post and let me know how you are doing.

    Halloween Challenge

Hi all! I am down again this week but I am not having a hard time with it because I am soooo tight. It has been better this week. I have had a couple of minor bping but I have not been sick-sick 3 and 4 times like the previous weeks. I am at 196 which is my first official weigh-in in onederland :seeya: but with hormones raging in the coming week:ohmy:, I am thinking it is a good possibility that I may have no loss but we will see because I will be exercising as long as my bike doesn't break again. My goal was originally 195 but I should be there in a week or maybe 2 so I am going to adjust that down to 190 which is still very doable. I am actually hoping to be in the 180s. Keep it up! Remember where we are today is much much better than where we were last year!:blushing:

    Halloween Challenge

Welcome! I would love to hear more about the indigestion issues. Since my last fill, I am having serious issues with GERD. We are trying a different medicine but if something doesn't change soon I am going to need to call my lapband doc. The acid is so bad that it is effecting my voice. On the good note, I am down 2 lbs to 200 lbs. I actually saw onederland this week but of course not on the official weigh-in day. Looking forward to next week when surely onederland will be a permanent fixture in my life. Keep working and let us know how you are doing!

    Halloween Challenge

Hello, I love seeing your victories because it reminds me that I can do this. Last week 206 This week 202 Loss 4 Goal 195 (7 to go) This is a big loss because I got a fill on 9/3/09 and thought I would have to have some taken out because even liquids were going down very slowly. I am better with pure liquids but still very restricted. We decided to leave it and see how it goes and so far I am satisfied. Keep it up! We can do this

    1 week and then banded

Don't be discouraged because we all eat more than we should or we wouldn't need the band. At the same time remember, lots of people with the band fail so you have to be smart, get your fills, and do your best to eat sensibly. I do not control what I eat like I should but here is my plan and it is working and everyday I am a little less likely to make bad choices. At meal time, I pretty much eat what I want and let the band control the portions. I try to get Proteins and veggies first but if the mashed potatoes or something fried is calling my name then I have a small spoon of it. I try to avoid Snacks or choose 100 calorie packs but if chocolate is calling my name then I have some (some not the whole bar). I have learned to eat just what I need to satisfy my want and then give the rest to my children or wrap it up for later. This band is a tool and you have to use it effectively but it is a very good tool. I am not longer even tempted by things like bread and Pasta. I still love to smell them but I no longer put them on my plate. (This didn't happen overnite but over the past year.) This is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I still worry that I will not make it to my goal weight but I still loose. I weigh everyday just because I want to BUT I only track of lowest weight from Fri, Sat, or Sun each week. Hope that helps your nerves! :tongue2:

    Halloween Challenge

I am in but I will have to call it an All Saints Day Challenge for me since we don't do the other thing. I am getting in late but in 8 weeks I should definitely be in onederland and hopefully closer to 195 so I will set that as my goal. I can't do the spreadsheet so I will post it here. Thanks for the challenge!
  9. I am right there with you. I haven't lost as quickly as I wanted to but I am STILL losing and SO much better off than I was a year ago. My doctor said yesterday that I have lost faster and more than the typical band patient but I have always known that I am not typical. I am truly only 7 lbs off where I really wanted to be at 1 year. My goal for next year is to lose hopefully about 40 more lbs and then I will have that last 25 or so for the last year and maybe by then I can afford some plastic surgery. I have crossed so many hurdles this year that I could only call it a success. I am no longer on BP meds which I had been on for at least 10 years. I am expecting to be taken off my cholesterol meds soon. I can cross my legs again. I am getting ready for a trip to Six Flags to see just how easy it is to get into those seats now. WE have come a long way! I am so happy with my decision to get this band. My family ate mexican for lunch and I ordered a small guacomole and couldn't eat all of it. That is incredible when just a little over a year ago, I couldn't get enough food! I don't get out here on the site as often as I would like but I am still here. I wish everyone the best in losing more or maintaining (where ever you are). I believe that we have the tool to do that. My 25th wedding anniversary is still a couple of years away but I am planning to be at goal by then. We are planning an Alaskan vacation or cruise.

    Anniversary Challenge

Hi August All-Stars, I like to set goals. I truly believe that a failing to plan is planning to fail. With that said, I am ready to set some goals for this summer and I thought it might be good to do them in the form of a challenge. We can discuss the details and then decide what is best but I would like to set 3 major weigh ins - first Memorial Day (5/25/09), second Independence Day (7/4/09), and third our individual anniversary days in August. I have set specific goals for myself for those days and it helps me to have someone tracking those as well. I was thinking that for those of us who want to set these goals, we could just track them as part of our normal Friday weigh-in with special posts on the goal dates. I know that all of our goals will be different. Some of you are trying to get to goal weight. I am trying to get to onederland (if I make it, I will still be losing faster than my doctor would like). My goals are 8 lbs by 5/25, 9 more lbs by 7/2, 8 more lbs by 8/22. What are yours? Anyone else have ideas or suggestions?

    Anniversary Challenge

First, I have to say I didn't call the doctor because I haven't had any more pain. I really think it is my colon and not the band. I will not hesitate to call if I have any more pain. Well, I have been out here the past couple of weeks saying I wasn't going to make it and that hasn't changed but I am still not discouraged... I have lost almost 1/2 what I want to loose. I don't know that I can loose the other 1/2 in a year but I am confident that I can loose 1/4 (1/2 or the 1/2) and I would honestly be happy if I kept doing that for the next several years. Mathematically, I would never reach my goal but we know I will. I have a friend who had a different weight loss surgery about 5 years ago. She lost a bunch but then plateaued for awhile close enough to her goal that she needed a some reconstruction. She had some done about 3 years ago and continued to loose slowly. Then last year she had more reconstruction done and she is pretty much done losing. My point is still that this is a journey and it is going to take a while but as long as we are walking in the right direction then we will eventually get there.

Friday Morning Weigh In August 7, 2009

Haven't made a weigh-in in a couple of weeks. I am down this week especially considering the climb I made when the doctor took away my Water pill with my BP meds. I am excited about the future. I noticed in the previous post something about not being able to eat some days. I have those and I don't understand. Then last weekend, I ate a normal small meal, everything went down fine, an hour or so later I was in a tremendous amount of pain. Sharp pains close to the band. They went away but I did liquids and mushies this week. Also, my port area stays tender just about all the time. Are those things normal or should I call my doctor???

    Anniversary Challenge

Hi all! I haven't been out here in a while. I hope everyone is reaching those goals! I am not but I am not discouraged. I had to completely change my exercise routine due to heel spurs and then I was having dizzy spells. Low and behold I don't need my BP meds anymore and no more dizzy spells. I sure do miss the Water pill part of the BP meds. Anyway, I am not going to reach my goal unless a miracle happens but I am inching closer and it is in sight! Stay focused! Keep going! This is a marathon not a sprint!
  14. No loss this week. :tongue2: It actually may be connected to the NSV below. NSV better than a loss for me. I am off blood pressure medication at least for 2 weeks. I have been terribly weak and light headed for about a month. I finally decided it must be my BP which had been running around 100/60. I called my doc and my last dose was Thursday. I felt better on Friday but I think maybe taking away the HCT (Water pill) part might be the culprit for no loss. Keep it up! I think it is great that almost one year later we are still committed. Normally in a year, I would have lost and regained the same 15 lbs two or three times. This year I have lost almost 60 lbs that I am CERTAIN I will NEVER regain. Victory is ours!

    Anniversary Challenge

Reading everyone's story is so encouraging. I appreciate your sharing. Thank goodness my anniversary is toward the end of the month because I have not been doing as well as I wanted even though I have been going down. I hope I don't embarrass any guys saying this but this past week was my first PMS week since October where I lost weight! YEAH! I can still make my onederland goal if I lose 2 lbs per week. I am going to do my best! We can do this! I realized today that with one more pound I will be half way to my goal. I honestly thought I would never see this day before my band. Thank you LORD for everything you are doing in my life!

    Weigh-in Friday 10th July

krtork - Also, look at the Splenda and other artificial sweetners. I have learned to use them sparingly because they will make me retain Fluid. I sure to miss my Lipton Citrus Teas. I didn't make it out here last week because we were out of town. I have been sick and not really wanting to eat much so I am down. 210 was my bandiversay goal for this week and I made it. If I make the rest of them, I will get to onederland just in time. I had been running every day training for a marathon in December but I started having extremely bad heel pain and have found that I have heel spurs. My doctor says do anything I want as long as it doesn't hurt. Anything more than a brisk walk is still hurting. I would love to hear if anyone has any suggestions.

Got my date for August 22!

Hey! It is great that you have your date. I had my band August 08 and this group is August 08 people. Although we have no problem with you hanging around. I don't know how to start a new group because I am not very computer wise either BUT you should definitely get a group going. I can't get to a support group so this one is my life line some days. By the way, I have never once regretted having this done. I am losing slowly and have great confidence that I will NEVER go back up again. Best wishes!

    Anniversary Challenge

I don't think I have been on since the middle of June. I didn't meet my 7/4 goal but I got very close; mainly because I was so sick last week I couldn't eat. I am going to have to really watch it for a couple of weeks to keep it off especially since I now have heel spurs and can't run for a while. I don't know what this is going to do to my marathon training. The doc said that I might be able to run by the weekend (let the pain dictate what you do). I WILL NOT be discouraged. I am closer to onederland than I have been in over a decade and I am not giving up now!

*Silently slinks into the All Stars*

I think you have experienced what we all fear. It sounds like they have you back on track now. I know you are glad to be past the plateau but hate how you had to do it.

    Onederland!!!

AWESOME! Haven't made it yet but I will! I saw my doctor on Tuesday and we decided no fill this time. I have lost 50 lbs since my surgery date and he is happy with that. I am ok with it but I was hoping for more by now. Those of you in Onederland are an inspiration for me!!!!
  21. Hi all, I didn't make it out here yesterday. I am down 2 lbs. to 217. I am thrilled but I am not sure I am going to make my 7/4 goal of 210. Let's hope I can just pull off 3 more weeks of 2 lbs per week and make 211.

Daily Plate - wake up call

It has really helped me to hold myself accountable instead of depending on the band completely. I like to log everything throughout the day but I make sure I get it done before supper and evening Snacks to be sure how many calories I still have. I also enter my exercise to see how many calories I burn with it and on long workout days like today, I make sure I am getting the essential calories I need to keep the fat burning.

    Anniversary Challenge

Onederland is my anniversary goal as well. It will be 66 lbs down for me and 19 from today. I am pumped. I am running every day and doing some strength stuff on the short days. I tell everyone - I am NOT dieting or trying to lose weight; I AM TRYING TO CHANGE/SAVE MY LIFE! We can do it!:blushing:

    Friday Morning Weigh-In, June 5, 2009

Hi all, Down a couple of pounds this week finally! I have 9 pounds to meet my 7/4/09 goal. It is going to be hard but I will probably get a fill on the 16th so that will help! NSV - I saw a bunch of family yesterday that I haven't seen in a while and they all noticed! YEAH! Also, I ran 4 miles in under an hour this morning and it is getting easier. The Rocket City Marathon is in sight!
  25. Hi all, I looked through the other threads and didn't see this. I love me doctor and my lapband but he has a hard time getting the right spot to do the fill. I feel like a pin cushion. He went through 3 needles yesterday. The first one bent and it was painful. The next one was too long and he couldn't get it in the right place. Finally, he got the last one but I honestly think he was about to give up. The only thing he said to me as far as why this might be so is that I have "tough/dense" scars. Does anyone else have this issue with fills? What might it be and could I do anything to make it better?
