RNY 7/31- Feeling extremely regretful
jgarcia323 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling so down regreting having the surgery. I developed portal vein thrombosis and now have to be on blood thinners for 6 months. I regret not accepting the way my body is and altering my digestive system. If u are considering getting the surgery make sure you go in 100%. I was doubtful even right before they put me to sleep. I wish i could go back in time and not have gone through this. Feeling extremey depressed and overwhelmed. I almost didnt make it. As a previously healthy 27 year old, i should have just not got through with it. Cant believe i made such a stupid choice. -
@ itsmekarenlee Where did your husband develop the clot? I am also one out of those 1,000 that developed a clot. Mine is in the portal vein. Had RNY on 7/31. Was readmitted a week later and then they found I had a clot. Now I am on daily INR checks and blood thinners. Its expectant that I am on the treatment for 6 months.

RNY 7/31- Feeling extremely regretful
jgarcia323 replied to jgarcia323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your support. Still feeling depressed. I have a great support system at home, but, I cant get over what I did. I regret it because now i understand that our digestive system is perfectly designed. Regardless, we are still making dramatic lifestyle changes. Now, I think problems with food are in our mind. If we can control our mind we could implement the same lifestyle changes without having to alter our body. I have about a month without eating a full meal, or sweets or fats. Why not do the same without having to cut our stomachs? I also regret it because i am afraid of long term complications, example, ulcers, perforated pouch, intestinal issues, gallbladder. I dont ever want to be in the hospital again . -

No disability for "elective surgery"
jgarcia323 replied to lulabelle607's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WLS should in no way be considered elective/cosmetic. If it was it wouldnt take serious documentation to get insurance to approve the procedure. I am in CA and my autho lady was the one to tell me I should sumbit the application. I would call the state disability dpt and ask. -
Anxious / Scared ! Surgery date is July 31st. I am both ecstatic and freaking out. I am revising my lap band to Gastric Bypass. This will be my 3rd WLS. The second was a revision for a flipped port. Im 27 , and overall healthy. I really hope I dont regret it...

My Best Friend and my Boyfriend do Not Know!
jgarcia323 replied to everfeels9's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Even though I was not very successful with my band, and I am having revision to Gastric Bypass, i am very proud to say I went through the surgery. It was my way to a healthier me. Plus, it stopped people from recommending diets. Lol. But , its up to you. If your BF and BFF are true, they will stand by you 100%. -
Im having revision from Lap Band to Gastric Bypass. Im having second thoughts as to if I should even go through a third surgery. ( Had a revision lap band for flipped port). Im very afraid GP will fail. Lost 70 lbs with Lapband, but gained 30 back with pregnancy. I dont want to do the fills any more, and want something that will help me loose faster. But, not so sure of wanting to go through it all over again.

jgarcia323 replied to jgarcia323's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Makes sense. I've had my lapband for 6 years now. It works. But i need to loose far more weight. Hopefully, the RYN is a better tool. -
Slow weight loss after Lap band revision to RYN?

How true is it that those who underwent revision from Lap band to RNY loose weight slower than "virgin" RYN patients? -

Fluids and exercise
jgarcia323 replied to tmposton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had the band for about 8 years. From experience, the first three fills didnt do much for me. I could still eat and drink like before. I was loosing weight by exercising and counting calories. However, when you get to the green zone (the right adjustment) you wont be able to drink heavily without feeling like it gets stuck or bubbles.
