Where are the November Sleevers?
happymama2014 replied to ToccoraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One month out tomorrow. Doing well. Big adjustment. Lost 12 lbs week one, another 6 week 2, another 9 past two weeks. 25 lbs so far. Weight loss slowed when I started cottage cheese. I added tuna a few days early I needed something more substantial. The fake creamy Soups were horrible. Adding GENEPRO to my favorite broth and crystal light gets my Protein in. But I have 3 meals of yogurt, protein coffee drink, tuna or lunch meat. I had a scrambled egg tonight and it was heaven. Kaiser said none for eight weeks but my surgeon told me yesterday that it was okay. Finding it difficult to get the Vitamins in because all the chewables and liquids I got make me sick. I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to take regular pills I got everything I could chewable or liquid. Yuk. I'm working on it. Thankfully I can drink Water with almost no restriction The problem is making sure I stop enough time to eat. Not quite getting in my 64 ounces but it's just because of timing. It's such a big adjustment not knowing how much to eat. I'll eat three or four bites of something and then when I have another all the sudden it hurts. I have not found when to stop? It's not like they're large amounts i'm not sure how or when you can actually sit and eat a small meal. Sometimes I wonder if it will ever be possible. I just make sure I don't go out where other people are eating because eating a few bites is strange. So the one recommendation I have is to take a few bites very slowly. I still have a tendency I think to eat faster than I should and you will get pain if you do. Walking 1 to 2 miles a day. Hoping for the best . -
Worried about prescriptions - antidepressants
happymama2014 replied to DarleneCh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could not get a liquid Effexor so I was prescribed pills to crush and told I nsy need them twice a day now. Crushing was hard and horrible for me to get down. I was taking pills with liquid one week out and I had to start taking my b1 that way too. I could handle it. -
Unflavored protein powder
happymama2014 replied to amy_lynn's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Genepro for everything! Soup, sugar free mocha, crystal light. Truly flavorless and mixes well! -
Cream of wheat made with Water, once cooked (runny consistency) splash of almond coconut milk, 1 scoop GENEPRO unflavored Protein, drop of pure vanilla, tsp of light agave . This fills me up and gives me a good base to get my Vitamins in. Perfect breakfast! Try it! Used to eat steel cut oats all the time but this will work for now!

Help! Can't stand Protein Drinks
happymama2014 replied to Elisha1015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder will save you! You can add it to anything! I mean that! I add to crystal light, pudding, shakes, Soups, cream of wheat, anything puréed. You have to order it but it's gonna save my life! I'm getting some decaf sugar free coffee mix and I'll have one each morning with my genepro and almond coconut milk. Awesome! -
I would really like to find some people that are in the Kaiser program. I'm in the south Sacramento program. The support groups have not and what I had hoped for I love to find the support here. After my psych evaluation today I've met all the requirements... Interested to hear what all have to do next.

Where are the November Sleevers?
happymama2014 replied to ToccoraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry I have not been posting much. I'm doing great. Drinking plenty of fluids. Pretty tired of the diet. I'm not going to eat any. Meats etc. so I'm pretty limited to yogurt and cottage cheese and cream soups. And I'm supposed to be eating the healthy request cream soups but they r disgusting. So a few times I have eaten a thin slice of my sons lunchmeat to get my protein in. I really like the unjury shake i'm almost out and it took almost a week to get my order last time. So I'm going to have to get creative. I can drink the flavorless in my crystal light but drinking protein does not feel the same on the stomach as yogurt or something more solid. I've seen lots of diets where people are already eating soft foods so I don't feel that bad but I'm trying my hardest to stick to the liquids another two weeks. I was going to go back to work this week but it was my son's birthday and conference week so he got out early all week and I've actually been sleeping a lot! I really took it easy this week. I would take him to school and come home and vegetate for two hours before I had to go back and get him. I also went to bed with him several nights and slept until he had to get up for school in the morning which was 10 hour nights. Sleeping more than 5 to 6 hours is almost unheard of for me so I just decided to relax the rest of the week. I've lost 22 pounds. Probably would be even more if I would've been exercising this week but I've just been doing walking. I go back to work tomorrow i'm going to take two walks one in the morning one in the afternoon. So we will see if I can stick out a whole day. I have a lot of work to do. Just happy will probably get to go home early Wednesday and then I'm off again until Monday hallelujah! My bowels are normal. The only thing I'm having a hard time with is making sure that I take the vitamins after I've eaten so they don't make me sick. The vitamin regimen Kaiser want to follow is ridiculous but I'm doing my best for now. Hope you're doing well! -
2 months post op - Lessons learned
happymama2014 replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm two weeks out. I also have no problems drinking water large drinks of water not sips. I'm very grateful for that. Twice I was in a position where I didn't have any food. I did have a protein powder that I poured into the water and it did not do the trick. my stomach just hurt because it needed a yogurt or something on it. So I had a cup of soup from a restaurant and it went right through me and I got really sick. Another time I was out I tried to eat a little bit of bread and it also hurt my back and my stomach. I'm not supposed to be having anything but soft food and yogurt but I feel so good of course I want to try food sometimes. I do enjoy having my almond milk and chocolate un jury powder. I heat it up and I have it like hot cocoa. I hope that someday soon I will be able to have some foods that don't hurt going down. Till then yogurt and cottage cheese and cream soup from Safeway. -
So I had my sleeve done 11/6. I am on a liquid stage right now. Had to go out to any event to Celebrate my son's birthday and were around family that did not know I had surgery. I had Soup and then tried to eat a few bites of mashed potatoes so that it appeared I was eating like everyone else. I was only able to eat three bites of mashed potato. I'm just wondering once I get to real food next month. Is there going to be a point where I'm going to be able to eat an amount that is not so noticeable that everyone's gonna ask why only take five bites of food ? I'm just wondering if it's always only going to be a few bites of food or what? I want to eventually be able to go out and have normal social life without all the questions or why I'm not eating? So that's my only concern. For now obviously just being on shakes and yogurt etc. i'm already down 20 pounds since my surgery date. Still doesn't really feel good to eat yogurt even then I do better with just liquids. I go back to work this week and I feel fine other than that. I've been able to get up and walk around and be active almost since the first few days I've been home. So no complaints here. More just questions about the future. Happy that I will never be able to sit down with a huge plate of food And eat til my stomach hurts. Just knowing that makes me much more sure about my future. Making better choices and this tool helping for portion size it's really a win-win. Now I'm approaching this three-week stall keep hearing about but I have no complaints 20 pounds even for one month it's nothing to complain about. So far every day still more and more weight is gone. My doctor told me last Friday that that weight loss would slow down but I've lost another 3 pounds since then. Cheers to that!

How to heat protein powder?
happymama2014 replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had almond/coconut milk with unjury. Used the chocolate splendor flavor mixed in a bottle then heated up with a sprig of whip cream. Heaven on earth and 20+ grams Protein, Warm things sure feel better and go down easier! No clumping at all. I didn't make it super hot but it sure was good! -
Do I need to wait 30 minutes between protein drink & drinking water?
happymama2014 replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked same thing about yogurt etched because it's so thick and dr told me it's all still liquid stage so just make sure that your taking 30-40 min for meals (yogurt or soup) then I drink my other liquids all day just slow up when I know I'm going to eat do that I am not too full. -
After surgery daily schedule for meds, vitamins, protein and liquids
happymama2014 replied to smiley922's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told MULTI am and pm for absorption. I'm almost 2 weeks out and I bought the huge pill box but really most my options are liquid and chewable so it has not helped much. I take my MULTI after I eat, then take my liquid b12. The VIT d quick melt tastes bad makes me feel sick so I have skipped it a few days. I don't start Calcium til after day 14 but for now I have a liquid for morning and night and chews to keep at work for mid day dose. I have been taking my b1 with my anxiety pill at night with Water but soon supposed to start Iron and c at bedtime too. So I may need to take b1 at lunch now. Taking to many at once is hard. I know if I had real food in me I could tolerate things better but for now I'm in a little routine and I stopped stressing those first few days just made sure I got multis and b12 because they were the easiest. But now things feel more comfortable everyday and the evening routine has set in pretty easily too. I know not everyone takes all the ones I do but it can be done just don't stress the first few days your home you will work it out! I also take selenium M W F I use liquid I put it in my b12 liquid.???? -
How to heat protein powder?
happymama2014 replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use GENEPRO powder in soup and no curdling or clumping and I heat it up! But I want to try a sample pack of different cocoa and coffee from bariatric pantry because I'd pay more to have it premixed if it tasted awesome! You could check some of theirs out? I'm ready to try decaf coffee with Protein... Maybe today. -
12 says post op, best I've felt, yet regret I did it
happymama2014 replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you are still not feeling great. When I was still in pain it was hard to tell between hunger, acid and pain. Now when I wake up after about 30 min I feel hunger and I'm recognizing that feeling. I drink 8 oz if milk/protein powder over ice and it takes me about 30-45 min. Right after I can tell I'm not hungry. But about an hour later I feel it again so I try some hot broth seems to feel full longer. The Jello was taking space and not helping with the Protein and hunger and I can only take about 4 small bites and I feel a little pain so my sleeve is full. My doctor said after about a minute and a half whatever you ate will kind of passed down and then I have another bite and keep doing it until it's been about a half an hour since you started eating. Makes you feel full longer but hard to eat so slow. Trying to figure out if you can try Greek yogurt instead of jello through the day. I eat a few bites from one yogurt a few times through the day to keep something on my stomach longer. It really helps me feel full. I am definitely not starving and the weight is just falling off. I'm also mixing two scoops of GENEPRO flavorless protein in 16 oz blender ball with crystal light powder and I drink that as my liquids but they also have protein in every sip. I can get 60 grams protein just in that 16 oz of crystal light. Hopefully getting more protein between meals can help you stay fuller longer ???? try the warmer fluids also it feels better than cold I seem fuller. Good luck! -

Did anyone NOT tell their job about surgery?
happymama2014 replied to VGB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw lots of bad blood on here on another post because not everyone wants to tell their work it other pekoe about surgery. I took vacation fir tie weeks no explanations but I did start my preop diet and was losing weight so I told a few people I am doing Neal replacement shakes and smaller healthier portions so that's all true and that's all im saying. Got tired of people trying to talk me into buffet Indian food at lunch. It's not gonna happen again. I will get takeout and eat my smaller portions until I know what I can eat and how much. I'm not at work to socialize anyway! -
November Sleevers, let's buddy up
happymama2014 replied to chicogirl3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Weird how I'm not using anything I thought I would post op. I ordered unjury chocolate and have been using it twice a day with almond coconut milk and the rest the day is broth soup or crystal light and yogurt. In another week I can do cottage cheese etc so it like the getting in protein part was never a problem. I have my Syntrax and will def use it but for sone reason the milk and unjury feel great and taste better so why ruin a good thing! Now u just need to order more cuz it took forever to get here and cannot buy it locally. -

I'm on day 6 post op. Not sure exactly what it is. I'm sure I over did it I felt so good and probably did not rest as much as I should have but today it felt like heartburn (bad) I can't keep crushing Pepcid so I got chewable and they helped but still hurts so not sure what I'm feeling. Wonder if I ate to much. I may have drank my broth to fast do I took in to much? Or maybe half a yogurt was to much? I'm not sure how to tell. Glad I'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow I'm a little nervous.

happymama2014 replied to happymama2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had two bad days, my dr said he thought I took in to much to fast since I was crushing pills eating in applesauce. Been fine since I then and no more crushing pills! Feel great! -
Well I have found 38 of us having surgery in Nov but only 6 show up under NOVEMBER 2014 sleevers. So I'm trying to create a group but cannot figure out how. I have looked and looked. If anyone has insight let me know. I have all of our surgery dates written down. Be really easy to make friends and find a buddy with us all in a group. Let me know otherwise I can put the list up if you want.

Any November Sleevers?
happymama2014 replied to Ladybird06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm down 17 lbs since nov 6 surgery day. I think my recovery was awesome. I felt bad, nauseas a few days and had pain a few days but I'm doing so well. I don't have to sip but I am still doing about 3 16 oz water or crystal lights and a few 8 oz broth. The Greek yogurt and a few unjury shakes get my protein in and it takes me about half hour to get each of those in. Saw my surgeon Friday and he said I can do anything just don't lift over 10 lbs. I'm on liquids 2 more weeks but it's ok. I'm going back to work next week. Super happy. Best choice ever. Hoping for 25 lbs this first month! -

I got nausea until today. I got sick the other day but I'm feeling a lot better now. I also had mine on 11/6.
