I got the liquid calcium called "wellessee" at wal mart and it includes the d3 so I will use that at least the first 4-6 weeks. I also found liquid b12 sublingual ..at walmart

Im new and have so many questions.....
happymama2014 replied to MindyLynn5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kaiser has it's pros and cons but I feel lucky I have a big binder full of information. Pre op and post op liquids lists of foods when to drink or eat them.. A detailed list if vitamins to take and when. I feel like I should make copies for people. It doesn't seem fair that people are not getting the same information. .we have support group to ask other questions. Believe me I have tons if questions ... I'm scared to death . Surgery in less than one month. -
Kaiser has a preop diet but only liquids 2 days before surgery..

I found everything at walmart today except thiamin. I got centrum chewable... But my NUT says crushing is fine just remember the days you are in clear and light fluids not sure how to take it crushed without a little yogurt or something.

Meeting with the dietitian-concerns
happymama2014 replied to Jenn Piller's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program doesn't allow for any weight gain. I'm nervous everytime I go. They weigh and record it at every appointment, nutrition, support group, surgeon, psych etc so I have a system down. I weigh myself in same outfit same time of day so my scale matches dr scale. I go every week and check my weight on a kaiser scale at the health information center then I have them log it in so I'm never suprised when I get weighed in. If I feel heavy I do all shakes for a day or two with extra Water and one low sodium meal at night it helps me a lot. By day two my tummy is flatter and I feel lighter. Clean food and a daily walk keeps me losing a little every week. Good luck. -
Im still in shock this is happening in one month. Today I cleaned out all my cabinets made room for my protein powders and drinks. Organized my supplements. I feel like I need to do tons if work around my house because I won't be able to next month ... I want to organize my clothes by size and put in different bins so I can trade or get rid if these 20+ sizes as soon as the don't fit anymore. It's surreal kind of like when I was expecting my son... They called it nesting. Anyone else?

I'm set for oct 2. I'm numb about it right now. 2 more visits before the big day a post op nutrition class and last visit with my surgeon. All other tests and requirements met through kaiser. Is there a way to create a group? For October sleevers?

Today I got my surgery date for October 2... I'm still in a state of shock. I have an MRI on my liver next week because they saw something in my ultrasound. Praying it's nothing serious and nothing that will prevent me from having the surgery. Amen'!

happymama2014 replied to diyana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do have Kaiser and mine was much like the previous post. Just really making sure I was sticking to the diet and lifestyle changes and knew what I was getting into. I thought I'd cry but made it without! -

pre-op diet help needed
happymama2014 replied to docbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kaiser gives a specific pre op diet 1200 or less calories. Protein, veggies, whole grain, fruit. Protein first. Then veggies etc...They only do shakes the month prior to surgery because they want people to learn to eat healthier first. Im 41 and I can lose 2-5 a week eating under 1200 and EXERCISING...even if it's just a brisk walk but it's easier for me to do circuit weights at the gym than walkng and it builds muscle and burns more fat faster. But replacing meals with shakes you should melt off lbs. good luck. I'm trying more shakes because I'm stocking up for post op so I'm hoping to melt a few extra each week. I get my surgery date this week -
Has anyone been able to get life insurance before or after surgery if so through what company? I cant get it before and I'm afraid I will be denied after. I wanted insurance before my surgery in case there was a complication with surgery or something. Not sure anyone would cover a complication from an elective surgery but im a single mom and i need to look out for my son.

Best multivitamin for early post op
happymama2014 replied to sarah92200's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just paid $3 got a sample pack from (celebrate) it let me pick what kind of flavors i wanted to try and im trying all the chewables right now. Personally i think im going with the Centrum liquid that i found over the counter just for the first few months. Then Im switching to one of the chewables either centrum or one from Celebrate. the flavors were not horrible so far but i only tried 3 out of my package. Im told that costco and walmart carry a liquid brand (wellesse) for Vit D and Calcium, Im looking for those also for the first few months. The celebrate calcium chew was actually like candy and those will be in my future for sure the CARAMEL flavor...but just thinking chewing gummy stuff the first few months not sure how it will feel. I have a strict Vitamin schedule through Kaiser, not sure everyone has same thing but I have to take a Multi-Iron +C, B1, B12 sublingual, Vit D and Calcium and selenium. it was overwhelming so gonna do shots of whatever i need in the am after breakfast:) -
got sleeve done 8/4/14..really stressing over this protein...ahhhhh
happymama2014 replied to APURNELL's topic in The Gals' Room
What kind of Proteins are on a clear liquid diet? Any of the Syntrax nectars or Isopure? Thats a good question to ask my NUT. -
I am not telling my work. I told my boss i need a few weeks off but thats it. He said is everything ok and I said yes. No lies. My coworkers do know i have had some health problems over the past few years. I have been declining lunches out and stating the reason is that im on a specifc diet and my dr wouldnt be happy. Thats it. No explanations, Im not getting into it with anyone. One lady kept asking me to go to indian food (my favorite), she kept saying there is salad...i said maybe one day when im thinking i can go and just have a little of a few things but right now i am passing. I have lost about 15 lbs in this process of getting through approvals. Only one person has said they noticed and she doesnt even work with me i have to do a liquid preop and im sure i will lose at least 20 doing that. so i am hoping people will ask and i will start telling them im eating much smaller portions and exercising which is very true. i think that some people will talk once i get to a certain level of loss but i honestly dont care. we did a biggest loser here two years ago and i won, i lost 55 lbs now here i am two years later, my coworkers saw me gain it all back and its very sad. Happy for this new opportunity.. just stick to what your going to say and dont go back. im just praying for a swift and safe surgery and recovery. Im hoping to be off two weeks work. Good luck!

I get all the way to dinner then I had a sand which and and a Popsicle I'm supposed to be able to do a full day.... My surgery date comes this week... I'm praying that post op I'm able to sleep and rest post op and forget I can't eat. Post op can I rest and sleep as long as you get ip and walk during the day?

I said goodbye to Chinese food today. Nothing I think I will want again except maybe some wonton soup ...so that's good. I've been allowing once a week to eat a goodbye meal. I'm dreading saying goodbye to Indian food. Has anyone actually been able to eat spicy food after. I mean like post op a year? It's not actually bad for you it's grilled chicken and spices..either way I'll miss it.

So Im moving closer to my goal. Im at the goal weight my dr recommended. I have been following a 1200 caloried diet of basically clean food for several months, I have had the occassional day off on the weekend and my son and I have pizza or something...I guess those days will be gone soon enough. I have attended the support group the nutrition class, seen the surgeon. Tomorrow is my Psych evaluation. I have no idea what to expect. I take medication because I get anxious and sometimes a bit depressed. Im hoping that she wont start talking about my deep rooted issues...I'm scared if i start crying she will put me down as needs to work on things Im a cryer, if I'm mad or upset...I hope I can just stay light and positive...just nervous. not sure what this really is about or what happens. Everyones journey is so different with different insurance and private pay surgery. I am using Kaiser and they have their own protocols. This is my last step Im told before we talk surgery...so its a big deal for me. Two years ago I started the same process with a different kaiser office. My surgeon was horrible, the NUT was horrible, everyone seemed to try and talk you out of it and make it so scary you thought you would fail but everyone i knew that had a bariatric surgery had varying levels of success. I had to lose 45 lbs last time..well you guys have heard it. If I can lose that on my own then why do I need surgery. Well I lost 50lbs, I was at the gym several days a week, eating clean for the most part and losing weight on my own...i decided to do it myself since i felt no support from the surgeon or the NUT. Then i had a hip injury, became immobile and the story is the same as always, the weight came back, my eating habits went to comfort and now here I am two years later 15 lbs heavier, starting again worse off than ever. Still full of questions, scared to death Im not making the right choice. Scared of the complications or things that could happen since Im a single mom. Feels so selfish that i am putting myself at risk... Why cant i do it on my own and make it last:( My son deserves a healthy mom that can get up and down off the ground and run with him. Im just scared to death. Wish it would just get here already and get it over with.. I have come to terms with the fact that I might be able to do it on my own, I might not. It might last it might not but I am trying this time to do the surgery and see if my life can be what i hope it can. Better. I want mobility, health, and to be active and live life with my son! Wish me luck with the psych tomorrow. God knows I'm gonna need it!!

So I got my package and I tried one so far. Pretty good. I put 16 oz Water next one I will use half that. The smell I didn't like but the taste was fine. I def wanted to try one over the rasberry ice crystal light and I was out.. So I tried it alone over ice. In the am I'm gonna try the coffee flavor!

CRAP! Have I made a mistake before surgery?
happymama2014 replied to MyKidsMom89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the very same thing happen. I stuck to a 1200 cal through my fitness pal. But basically ate just clean foods. No processed foods and sugars. And I exercised and I was able to lose 55 pounds. My doctor had ordered me to lose 45 pounds prior to approving me for or surgery. Problem is I said to myself or if I can lose 55 I can lose 100 in blah blah blah blah blah. Then I had a problem with my hip again which I have a history of. As soon as I was not able to exercise again I didn't eat right I didn't go to the gym long story short two years later now here I am starting again except my high weight is 15 pounds more than it was when I try this last time. It showed me that yes I can lose weight yes I can get in great shape but I have a problem. I need more help with portion control which is what I am hoping the surgery will do. Plus if they can help me get over the hundred pound mark I know that I would be able to stay active. So think about how important it is to you to do this now because if you do have a history of gaining weight back then it is something to think about. I'm so sad I didn't finish this journey years prior when I started. Thank God my surgeon now saw that I lost all that weight before and did not require the same thing this time. Now from start to finish the process will be less than 5 months. Surgery in Oct.
