  1. Thanks for the nice picture comments! I would love to be friends... one can't have to many friends!

I bet is cold where you are. Today was sunny and 65 here. When did you get the band?

  2. I think the one on the left (me) looks a little like David Cassidy??
  3. Final Continued...

Follow the diet your doctor recommends! Low carbs avoid sweets if it isn't your birthday or a holiday. Be aggressive with your fills!!! The sooner you get good restrictions the sooner you will start losing weight!

I hope I haven't written too much! I hope this helps and please email me for any questions you have during this process. I was lucky. I had an older sister get this 4 years ago. A younger sister get it a couple of weeks after me and a co-worker who had it a week before me. I have a wonderful support group and have sought out most questions! Good Luck, don't worry!! .... Melissa

The website would not allow me to post this in one block. Sorry!

    3. I love my band!! My success has really been much better than I dared to hope! I have been heavy my entire life. I have been obese since my early thirties (infertility meds). I was a happy chunky chick, a happy, active obese stay at home mom and then my mid forties happend:scared2:. I became diabetic, high cholestrol and high blood pressure. At first I thought I was cheating by considering Weight loss surgry. But, I could not lose more than the same 10-15 pounds over and over. I had to diet to not gain weight!

In 8 monthes I have lost 80 pounds, ate out with friends, gone on vacations, and bought reg. sized clothes for the 1st time since my 20's!! This has been the best descision!! My blood sugar and cholsetrol are normal and the doctor is weening me off of blood pressure medicine!! No more nervousness about theater seats and boothes in restuarants.

  5. Continued...

    2. The week after surgry will be okay. I allowed myself to become dyhydrated and had bad headaches and nausa for a couple of days. Once I started sipping water I felt fine..tired.. but fine. The liquid diet is no big deal. It is a short time and personally I didn't want to eat anything big. Keep sugar free jello, soups & and protien drinks around! As surgries go ... this one is no big deal. The incisions were no big deal.. not much pain at all. It felt more like really sore muscles from too many sit ups. Just don't get to active before your doctor tells you!

  6. Continued...Maybe the one that inspired you to have the band surgrey!! When you first see the scales move down you will be excited. But sometimes weeks pass and their isn't much of a number loss. These pictures will keep you inspired. When I lost my 50 pounds, I knew I felt better and I was excited about losing this weight. However, I was still a plus size and it is difficult to see the difference. I know that sounds strange but I never really saw how big I was and I am now shocked at the difference I see. So when I get stuck at weight for a long time I can look at my before pictures and then at my now pictures and it makes me feel soooo good. Sometimes when my weight isn't changing I am still losing inches. I do really recommend you taking that before picture. Some place in your house where you can repeat the pose in a couple of monthes ... to get a good comparison. It will help inspire you thru the tough times!

  7. Hi Marty!

Thank you for a the sweet things you said. I am very lucky and I do have a wondeful family, I am blessed.

    1. Don't be afraid of pictures. Lord knows I have 100's that I hate. But as much as you might hate seeing yourself now, your kids love the way you look and will want memories of the times they are with you now. I also recommend taking a picture now as a benchmark of the progress that you be making. Also, look around for the absolutely worst picture you can find of yourself.

  8. You look like your having a blast, but... You don't even look like the same person!

    Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!

Ladies, thanks for all the nice and encouraging words! What has helped me the most so far is watching my carbs and no sugar (with a few special exceptions). I had to remove ice cream from my house. It was to tempting on those really tight days. Also... when you got a lot to lose it comes off faster! I have loose days and I make a fill appointment. Then, before I can get to the doctor I become so tight that I am throwing up. So I've cancelled the last few appointments for a fill. Today, I need a fill. I'll have to be good with all the Superbowl Junk food :tongue2: Bandana... Not to sound too geeky, I have been watching the barimetric pressure and how it affects my band. It seem that the lower the pressure the tighter the band. When we get a strong cold front I tighten up. It makes it hard to figure out how much of a fill I need. I don't won't to be miserable, however, I diffently don't want to stall out!! I have not shopped regular sized clothes since my mid 20's. I get over whelmed at large department stores (like Dillards or Macy's). I need a guide to help find the section that fits me best. I don't want to stumble into a youth section and get to hating on myself! Meri... It is 65 outside and I should be walking! Ja9va... If 50 looks like you, it looks fantastic!! It's great hearing from so many in the same place in life!! Good luck with superbowl parties and valentines!! (already told my husband.. no candy... no expensive flowers... save the money for spring clothes! All I want is a big kiss!! I think he thinks it is a trap. )

    Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!

Hey Everyone! It is nice to hear from so many fabulous forties! Bandana.... I turned 47 last month (can't believe it). Somewhere in my mid 40's I thought I would never be an average sized person. I would just keep dieting in order to maintain my terrible weight. Now I am 80 down and wearing non-plus sized clothes. I'm not at goal yet, however, I am very optimistic!!

Thanks bandfan!! I noticed we are the same age. How great is it that this band thing was invented just in time for us!! I really never thought or dreamed I would see these numbers again. It has been since my 20's. You are doing great too. Soon you will hit the big 50 pounds! What a milestone!! Once again.... I love my band.

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

I have had several great NSV! Got blood work back... Blood Surgar ... Normal (I am a diabetic) Cholestrol... Normal And doctor wants me to take a 1/2 dose of blood pressure medicine and maybe get off completely very soon! My foot no longer swells up on long days of running around. I can cross my legs!!! I can easlie fit into a movie theater seat (no stress)! My bath towel can wrap all the way around me. Do any of y'all ever put your hand on your hip, scratch your shoulder or touch yourself anywhere else and it doesn't feel right? Like you can feel bones where you have never felt them before? I am having to get use to the new me. Lovin it... but it is strange sometimes!!

100lbs!! That is great Christine! I just checked out the website you recommended and I think will start trying to use that daily. It will keep me from kidding myself about how much a cookie is! Long2B... wow 92.5lbs! You should be very proud!! You let us know as soon as you get to 100! I have lost 75!! I am very happy. I did gain a couple of pounds in the last 2 weeks, however, that is nothing compared to weight gains in the Christmas's past!! Happy New Year Y'all!

    freaking holidays!

After a fill I can feel my restriction immediately. After about 2 weeks I start to get "loser". This was typical for me until I hit that perfect amount and didn't loosen up much after that. Everyone is different. My sister can't feel her fill until about the 2nd week after her fill. This just means you probably need to get another fill when your doctor allows it. I ate too much yesterday....but not as much as I use to! And no matter how tight I feel, cookies go down smooth. That is why I don't buy them and I didn't make any for Christmas.
