You're doing great! Don't compare yourself to others because everyone's body is different. I would focus on your plan and keep doing what you are doing. It will come off... besides (I know I said don't compare) compared to others your start weight is considerably low (in weight loss surgery contexts). In total, you have lost 44lbs. What diet could you get on and loss 44lbs in a month?

it was told to me by my doctor that you focus on staying on the liquids during pre-op as much as possible. He did not recommend not following but he understood that most cheat during the pre-op phase. The goal is to shrink your liver as much as possible for they will have little to no interaction with it. As for cold turkey, after the surgery you are going to have no choice but to go cold turkey. Your options are risking being sick with diaheria(sick) or vomiting. Your stomach is not going to allow you (I don't know as time goes by) in the beginning to eat that much. in my opinion, you do it cold turkey. The first 3 days are rough with the 1st day being the worst. I'm day 11 no cheats so far and I'm fine. How many days do you have to do it?

I am really excited today. So far this week, I lost 2lbs total 64lbs lost in approximately 10 weeks since surgery. I go see my doctor on the 7th of July and I set a goal of being 229 by that time. Even if I don't reach the goal set above and reach 230-232 I will be extremely happy. I am loving my sleeve.

To date, I have loss 63lbs. I think but not certain the rapid weight loss happens more often with huge numbers when individuals are larger. I have some friends that started probably 50lbs lighter than I did and had their surgery on the same day but loss around 40lbs. Also, they say it is unhealthy to compare weight loss with others because everyone's body is different. You may loss much more than I did in your first 9 weeks. How much weight have you lost so fast?

Question: I am approximately 9 weeks out and for some reason today... food is like ewwww to me. I can't even manage to get myself to drink my protein shake this morning. So, I am sipping on tea to at least get my liquids in. I was wondering has anyone else experienced this. @@woozybaby27, my recommendation to get start is to just hold on to your set belt and enjoy the ride. Also, don't go out and buy a whole lot of stuff. You will find that most will be wasted. In your first two weeks, don't beat yourself up because you're not getting your protein in because you can't. Just focus on meeting your liquid requirements. For me I did nothing fancy like the homemade shakes and all that I just stuck to the basics and that worked for me. Welcome to the losing bench... as "they" say!

Missviscious, I wouldn't recommend taking classes. Even though you feel like you're fine... You're still weak. I can remember me taking naps all of the time ( I'm not a nap taker). I took off two weeks and when I went back to work I was drained I could barely make it through the day. You feel fine but it's an adjustment.

Smokey, I agree with the vanilla premier shakes. I'm purchasing some. I can't drink the lean shakes anymore. My sleeve just don't like them anymore. In the beginning and before the sleeve, I drank the strawberry and banana all of the time.

Smokey, the Isopure is a hard drink to get down for me. I drink the premier protein shakes. They come in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla but I recommend the chocolate. They are pretty tasty and 30g of protein.

    Gaining weight?

@ Shahada, I am experiencing the same thing. I am 8 weeks and a couple of days out. I was going through a stall and then the scale move 1.8 pounds and a couple came back on and now a stall again. But meanwhile, I am losing major... I mean major inches. What was told to me is your body has lost 61lbs in two months and it is trying to catch up. Also, my NUT warned us about this in our post-op NUT class on what to expect... as she stated the squirrel is trying to house it nuts because it thinks its straving and running out of food so it needs to store food. Also, someone else told me its a numbers game. Think about 1 calorie is approximately 3,000 calories. If you are eating between 700-800 calories in food and then you are working out and burning approximately 500-600 calories from your working out... your total intake of food is approximately 100 calories. It isn't possible to gain a 1lb because you are not eating 3,000 calories.

The first 2 weeks you should mainly focus on getting your liquids in and as much protein as possible.
  15. I could not help but reply to this post. I think about my experience with battling with my weight and what I went through to have my surgery (paying out of pocket for the whole thing). I just feel amazed that so early out or even in the pre-op stage anyone is thinking about eating McDonalds. My thought is I never want to go back to being 300lbs again in my life so whatever I have to do I am going to do it. These days and the days of the individuals I know are successful with weight loss and weight loss maintenance are more focused on Protein, Vitamins, getting veggies in, drinking at least 70oz of liquids. I am wondering how anyone 6 weeks out is able to eat pizza. I am 8 weeks and three days... and I barely get my 1/4 to 1/2c of food in. Also, how did you get past your fears to try McDonalds and Pizza after all that was taught in the NUT classes? They scared me to death so I haven't touched the stuff nor do I have an interest in trying it. In 2 months and 3 days, I have managed to loss 61lbs. I am so determined to reach my goal. Their isn't a burger, fry, pizza, soda, candy bar, ice cream or cookie that could alter what I want most. My health, no medicines, no hypertension, a non-diabetic... I guarantee you once you start seeing the weight drop... your desires for that burger will go away. Don't set yourself up for failure before you even have the surgery! Just think about why you decided to have the surgery and what you see in your future. I know it is not realistic to believe that you will deprive yourself for the rest of your life but it is realistic to deprive yourself for 1-2 years until you are healthy and know how to properly eat in portions. The first year is suppose to be your best year... give yourself a fighting chance for at least that year. I am also continuing my counsel post op. My thoughts are food is my crack and when individuals on crack want to break the habit... they go to rehab. My rehab is my counseling so I can figure out why I would let myself even get 300lbs. This is not a judgment... just a thought!
  16. I don't know if any of you ladies experienced this but men's response to me is completely funny. Men have always been attracted to me but right now its X10. From them holding the door for me, to them stopping to tell me my eyes are beautiful or just telling me I am beautiful. It is so funny because I am the same person just a little small... why didn't all these guys notice me before? it is interesting plus a turn off.
  17. Yesterday, we had our typical birthday celebrations when someone in our family birthday comes around. But yesterday was different - normally the celebrations are held at my mom's and dad's house and leftovers are there. But this time it was held at my house with me cooking all of the things I can not eat. (See, I live alone and I have the luxury of dictating what comes in my house.) Yesterday, the birthday girl wanted me to cook my famous BBQ party wings so I cooked them but I made myself some fish. The problem came in when it was time for everyone to leave.... I looked around their were sodas, ice cream, cake, those famous BBQ wings and host of other things brought by other members of my family. So what did I do... I trashed it all for the trash man today. I haven't tried sweets since my surgery and I don't plan too. I am giving myself the absolute best fighting chance at this thing here called my "sleeve". I just don't want those temptations in my presence. Especially since I am not losing pounds currently but a lot of inches. Sometimes, I don't feel like my family and friends get it.
  18. All, I was telling everyone to take a plate but everyone was like no... I can't eat Pasta everyday, no I don't want any cake and Ice cream, no.... no.... no.... So, I told myself no. Donation is an option but I didn't want it in my house that long. Sweets are my crack and its like putting a recovering crack-head in a crack-house and telling him he must live there for 30 days. I can almost guarantee he is coming back out an addicted. I just didn't want to chance it. And that's one of the reasons I don't think my family and friends understand because they are like you can't have sweets in your house. My response is no... I have only been on this road to recovery from my addiction for 2 months and I don't want to backslide to only have to recover again. Maybe sometime down the line I will be able to have the goodies in my house for others but right now... it's not best for me. Thanks everyone!

    New to Posting

Thanks you both. I started with the Premier Protein shakes today. It has 30g of protein and it doesn't taste too bad. I purchased the strawberry and chocolate. I am a fan of the chocolate but not the strawberry. So, I am hoping with this new Protein shake I will get me protein in for the day. DenaD, I used the unflavored protein mix (GNC brand) to add protein to my GNC lean Shake (25g) but after awhile I couldn't drink it. My sleeve stop like it. I never tried the unjury but I have heard great things about it. Babysheldon, I am sipping and sipping... my camelback goes everywhere I go but I am still not able to drink the 33oz twice a day and eat. I am also experiencing ups and downs in my weight lately. I've noticed that I have stuck around this 241 for a week now with my weight going back up to 242 from time to time. Have either of you experienced that?
  20. Hi all, I am new to this forum. I had my surgery April 14, 2014 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore Md. I am just looking for a group that can help with holding me accountable. Currently this is where I am: food Intake: limited to 800 calories daily but most reach no more than 500 Calories Exercise: 6 times a week Protein: Approx. 60g Water: Approx. 50-60oz I am hoping someone can help me with increasing my Protein and Water intake. it has been a struggle with getting them both in consistently. Any suggestions are welcomed.
