  1. Hi, well tomorrow I see the surgeon so he can look at the infection on the incision. The infection looks under control with the antibiotics. I change the gauze twice a day using bacitration. I also air it out when im home careful not to rub it against anything. I dont have a temp, my blood pressure is good so is my blood sugars. So I guess Im almost out of the woods.
  2. Well I emailed photos of the infection to my surgeon and he made an appt to come in Wednesday this week. They said if it gets worse go to the emergency room again this time at the hospital I had my surgery at. I guess I everything will be alright.
  3. well i hope the antibiotics work. Im keeping the incision covered with gauze and bacitration. got to keep the hope up. oh well.
  4. Hi all, I just found out today that I'm on a stage 2 diet meaning I can now have pureed foods. Its been 11 days since the surgery and was on a liquid diet for that period. If anybody has any tips or advice even feedback I would sure appreciate it. They did give me a handout on the basics but still I would like input from my peers. thanks.

    Drinking Water After Excercise

hi everyone, I was sleeved at St. Lukes Hospital Manhattan NY, I do a lot of walking everyday. I am not allowed to exercise like a heavy workout or even lift more than 10 pounds until my doctor clears me.
  8. Hi everyone, well its been since nov 13th thats when i had surgery. Im wondering whats the general consensus about when I can start pureed foods. Im hoping after one week. Does anybody have feedback about this it is greatly appreciated. thanks
  9. Well Well tomorrow is finally upon me and I am to report to the hospital at 10am Monday. I am currently on my 2nd day of liquid diet and I am a diabetic so I had to stop the glipizide per my doctor. I currently take Metformin and juanivia. I was told immediately following the surgery I will discontinue my diabetic medication all together. Am I nervous? Not the way I thought I would be Im just concerned how well the anesthesia hits me. I was told they will introduce meds first to relax me make me drowsy and memory loss so as to i would not even remember why im in the hospital to begin with. Then they will introduce the general anesthesia later on. But I feel fully confident in the hospital and surgeon. From what I understand they do these surgery's on a daily routine basis. The first week upon discharge I will be with family for support and encouragement. How I feel about this process is that I am having the procedure to save my life. Being that I am on medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, GERD. So I will have this procedure now so I can keep my toes arms and legs from amputation. Because that's what eventually will happen. So I am getting the tool needed for a new lease on life with the implementation of permanent dietary lifestyle changes that will include exercise. I want to be able to purchase those clothes that because of my weight had to pass up constantly for many years. So yes I am saving whats left of my life at 47 years old. thank you

    Nov. 18Th Is Surgery Day!

hi I just got out of the hospital on nov 13th went in the 11th for the sleeve procedure. I want to say that the only time it really hit me that this is really is happening was the morning of the surgery. When I went into the OR they held my hand and guided me to the operating table, it was really cold in there. However, they will give you an IV and they will give you something to relax and basically you dont even know why your there anymore once they pump that stuff to make you go to sleep. I say stay strong this will change your life and avoid costly medical problems in the future. you are saving your life. I feel very strongly about this. Good Luck. Remember your getting a new lease on life. Exciting. Take Care
  12. hi all, well i was approved for the sleeve procedure and it is happening nov 11, 2013. I suddenly realized that i have to take care of all my laundry, go shopping for 1st and 2nd week liquid diet, make doctors appts now for after the surgery, and anything i can suddenly think of that would need preparedness. Basically do everything that i might not be capable of immediately following the surgery. If anybody has any tips or advice it is definitely appreciated as far as being prepared for post op needs 1st and 2nd week. I will be staying with family the 1st week post op immediately following discharge from hospital. Thank You

thanks for everybody's replies I find it helpful what about valuables like house keys and wallet do they have a locker or how do they secure phone and stuff while your having the operation. I figure after the operation they give you your stuff back and i can keep an eye on it.
