I find its important to eat small healthy meals but be creative to keep it interesting also it prevents constipation when I have veggies and fruit I also use Metamucil before each meal for saiety.
-
Over one year out I have a variety of food I just don't eat candy cake or junk food. I especially don't eat after 5 pm.
-
Because night eating is very bad for me those were the habits I had that caused my obesity. I always believed that most people eat at night. The opposite is true.
-
I eat 3 meals a day some fruit occasionally a raisin bran muffin but basically it's the same food a thin person eats.

gained a little more than one year out

Well I weighed 140lbs around Nov 11 2014 had surgery Nov 11 2013 now I weigh 165lbs I am now a 33 waist was a 30 waist but maybe a 30 waist for a man 48 years old is not reasonable I think that might have been to ambitious. I would prefer to stay at a 30 waist but maybe its not possible I have thought of exercising but I'm not sure my body will lose weight around the waist. I remember I only ate meat and vegetable now I have carbs with my meals. The surgeon mentioned that after one year I would gain 15% back. I guess he was right. Not sure if I should drive myself crazy over the increased waist size. -
lets hear from those that are near their goal weight.
jaysleever posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
well I am 2 pounds from recent goal weight. I weigh 142 lbs in the morning no fluids no food. I weigh 147lbs during the day with fluids and food. I want to weigh 140 during the day. so that would mean that I want to be 135lbs. so when I weigh myself during the day with fluids and food I will be 140. how is everybody else doing with reaching their goal weight. I want to hear what others are doing to reach their goal weight. Lets get some feedback. -
Ok this freaking constipation!

I eat fruit twice a day in the morning and at night. 1 cup serving twice a day good for regularity. Fruit has fiber. I have frequent regular bowel movements. -
Well well well I realized I was manipulating my portion sizes. I was eating more than 4oz of meat and 3oz of veggies per meal. I stopped weighing my food. I would eye the portion size and eat till I felt full. Needless to say I have started weighing my food again. I had to go back to basics again. I now weigh 4oz of meat and 3oz of veggies for lunch and dinner. I measure 2 cups of dry cereal now for breakfast. Only 2 eggs and 2 strips of bacon with 1 slice of whole wheat bread with PB2 powdered peanut butter on it instead of butter. I also have to watch how much fruit I eat at each sitting. I will have like 1 banana and 1/2 of an apple for example per snack twice a day with breakfast and and after dinner. I realized I was getting excited happy at the prospect that it was meal time and it began to be an activity for me again. This kind of food behavior disorder will lead to compulsive eating again. So I stopped it and went back to basics. I only want to eat to nourish. Eat to live not live to eat. I had my surgery nov 11 2013 so I will have 1 year come November. I now weigh 145.2 lbs. surgery weight was 296. I am 5'8". Medium frame. I don't eat much carbs. No potatoes, pasta, rice. Only carbs I get is from greek yogurt, fruit, milk, dry cereal, whole wheat bread when I make the occasional sandwich with ham. I am weighing the cold cuts for the sandwich also. My health is good. I don't have diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure. I don't have severe sleep apnea any more either. So I have a new lease on life. Being in good health I feel I am more marketable for employment opportunities and dating. So my food plan is more important than anything else. It's true if you are in poor health because of your eating habits that tells a lot about the individual to others. If you can not care for your own health how can you care for others and if so that is part of the eating disorder for sure.

I am just curious I see posts where people say all they can eat is 4 bites of this or that so tell me how do you expect to get your Protein in especially Fiber from veggies. The whole idea is to get your protein and fiber from natural sources like food. The whole idea is not to continue Protein shakes for the rest of your life. So if you cannot feed yourself adequately how is this a good thing. Because it seems like people are happy they can only fit in 3 or 4 ounces of food per meal. Then people complain they are having constipation well of course you are your not eating enough for the body to produce a healthy bowel movement.

I take like 10 different vitamins I wonder is that too much at one time I take them with breakfast. Im just wondering if the body can distinguish each vitamin if I take them all at one time. Can I get some feedback on this. thanks.

So whats your meal plan 6 or more months out now
jaysleever posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
basically I only have 3 meals a day no Snacks Breakfast might be greek yogurt or eggs scrambled with small cup of fruit or meat and veggies. lunch and dinner is meat and veggies or an occasional whole grain whole wheat with ham slices and mustard. I drink mostly Water with occasional crystal light I try to limit carbs to under 60 grams a day meat mostly consists of ground beef, turkey, chicken. Ill make the occasional beef or chicken stew with a pressure cooker. I dont eat rice or potatoes dont want the trigger foods. carbs crave carbs especially simple carbs. what i put in my body will influence what i will crave and influences hunger i use 85percent lean ground meat. once in a while Ill make pork like pork chops veggies mostly consist of broccoli, spinach, or string Beans sometimes carrots but carrots have a lot of sugar in them so I def limit them. sometimes asparagus steak sometimes but i cut it into strips and do a stir fry. so let me know what you guys think Im interested to know your input -

See this comparing speed of weight loss is not healthy at all. I mean there are going to be a lot of individual things going on why do that to yourself so tell me once you reach your goal are you going to approach this differently and make this a conditional process. The last I checked this is supposed to be a permanent life style change. Meaning we have the rest of our lives to continue. So tell me why are people rushing this. -

Your body will lose most if not all the weight that what has not reached its set point regardless of what the nut said. I lost over 100 % of my excess weight the body knows how much to lose and what is the normal weight each persons body is. The body will seek equilibrium and will lose what the body thinks is not ideal for yourself uniquely. -

well it looks like the new gym by me is opening Monday grand opening and its like a 10 minute walk from my apt. I intend to do mostly cardio using the elliptical and treadmill and bike. not so much the weights. I want to go down to 140lbs. I think that would be ideal for me because they say one year out you gain 15 percent of the weight back. So I want to continue to be a 30 waist. Im 5'8" tall so I think that is healthy for me. -
Decided Overeaters Anonymous is necessary
jaysleever posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I go at least once a week to Overeater's Anonymous preferably on Sunday afternoons. I feel it goes deeper than just eating habits and meal plans maintenance. Its a way of life a new life free from the mental obsession of food as being an activity. Emotional eating is what landed me in the position to get the surgery in the first place. The 12 step program shows a life free from the bondage of food being the center of daily life. When people share during the meeting they discuss real life problems surrounding compulsive eating and compulsive food behavior. yes I said it behavior part that includes that mentality of eating disorders because its more than just getting the surgery. Its not an answer all at all. The issues the dark secrets, regrets, shame, guilt all those issues that kept us in bondage with eating disorders. Eventually doing an inventory with someone else that has experience in the 12 step program. An inventory is a list of issues that kept us mentally in bondage to emotional eating. Getting the surgery is just a tool in a program of maintenance which might include therapy with a therapist especially during the first year out. What good is getting the surgery if we are not prepared to deal with the disease of eating disorders. Thats right Im talking real talk not sugarcoating what the core of obesity was or is. Even after we reach goal weight and congratulate ourselves by patting ourselves on the shoulders for a job well done. Then whats next fighting the obsession for poor food choices by the food industry. we cannot do it by ourselves remember dieting didnt work or the idea that its all about fighting obesity by ourselves. Its all about letting people into our lives that can be part of a healthy support network. Its all about changing old behaviors. -

also may i add that if there are no OA meetings in your community hopefully there are AA meetings that you can still share about food as a substance that was or is abused AA is still a 12 step meeting. -
well tomorrow I plan on making chicken stew with the pressure cooker and I put only healthy ingredients chicken cutlets cut up into cubes and chicken broth and veggies. basically I want the meat to come out tender and soft not dry and tough. I think its a healthy addition to any kitchen. I can buy the low quality meats like london broils, pot roast, chicken cutlets the big ones I buy all my meat on sale freeze it for when I need it. Its important I believe to have a good variety of healthy food choices. that includes all the various ways of preparing and cooking meat. I usually steam my veggies that i buy frozen. I stay away from high carb veggies like peas. I usually use spinach, string Beans, or broccoli that is frozen and they usually have them on sale weekly. I go through a lot of veggies for Fiber and regularity. I also drink mainly Water with occasional crystal light flavors. I drink my Snacks using the nutribullet for reasons that I dont want to physically eat more than 3 meals a day. I believe its psychological. I feel that if I drink my vegetable smoothies instead of actually chewing a snack which also counts towards my fluids for the day. I stay away from simple carbs. The only carbs is from occasional greek yogurt that i might have for Breakfast or whole grain whole wheat bread for a deli turkey sandwich for lunch which I usually have only twice a week. I am a firm believer in hot meals for lunch and dinner. I weigh all my meals.

using the nutribullet
jaysleever replied to jaysleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
well basically I use cabbage as a base veggie or one could use kale and spinach. I often put a piece of fruit for flavor and add chia or flax seeds. I use Water for consistency as this will count towards total daily Fluid intake. There is no limit to the ingredients you can use however listen to your sleeve when you try different recipes. oh I will add 1 ounce of raw almonds. also be aware of any bloated feeling that you can adjust the ingredients to what will be comfortable for you.
