I've had the surgery here in KY but my cousin wants it now and I know nothing about this surgeon. Any info would be great!

I don't drink tea but they served me hot tea in the hospital. The problem Ive seen with tea and coffee with sleevers is some-not all-have had issues with leaks. The tannic acid in tea and coffee is the culprit. I just drank enough Mio, like literally a shot glass full just to kill the headaches. They were crippling me.

I thought the pain meds would help me with the caffeine headaches and I was SO WRONG!! I was on morphine in the hospital and Percocet after and STILL had caffeine headaches. When I got home I started doing small shots of Mio Energy mixed with water and that was the only way I could kill those awful headaches. Caffeine is considered a drug for a reason!

If you weren't obese "all" of your life, what is it that caused you to become obese ?
TonyaNKy replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a traumatic childhood. I never learned how to be normal or knew what a normal life was. Then I married at 24 and moved 2k miles away from home and fell into a deep depression. It took me over a decade to gain over 100 pounds. It took me a very long time to realize that I was medicating with food. After I figured it and my life out, I didn't know how to stop medicating. This surgery forced me to and forced me to deal with my past and my feelings. -
Sleeved 5-21-14. Down 56 pounds.

The same thing happened to a person in my wls group. He was never a drinker, never touched alcohol, in fact. He had elevated liver enzymes but nothing astronomical, so did I. Doc opened him up and he had cirrhosis of the liver and wasn't able to have the surgery.

CW 256. Losing slower than a snail stuck in cold tar but still losing.

Small loss. 257.0!

I hadn't heard a thing before surgery about when to drink fluids until I joined this board. So when I had my first consult after surgery I asked. My NUT said there are no rules on drinking as far as they were concerned. I drink during meals and have had no problems. I had my surgery May 21st and I'm down almost 50 pounds with no complications.

Husband says No to me having surgery!
TonyaNKy replied to Mich4351's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know what to tell you because my husband doesn't tell me what I can or cannot do. You're a grown adult that can make decisions about your own body for yourself. Don't ask permission from ANYBODY about what to do with your body. -
It's a balancing act and stalls happen. I had my surgery May 21st and just busted through a 3 week long stall. I was going crazy and having various conversations in my head. Did I eat too much? Am I eating too many carbs? Should I walk longer? Faster? Turned out that all I needed to do was increase my protein and calories by a little. As long as you're not grazing and not eating fries and sugar all day, you're not doing anything wrong. You just may need to adjust a little.

This is new and scary
TonyaNKy replied to starspring's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over two months and I noticed if I don't keep my carbs down to 30g or less, I'm hungry all day. Also this is what happens to me if I don't drink enough water. -
Checking in, y'all. The weight loss has been as slow as a turtle dipped in molasses but I finally lost. SW 264 and I'm now 260.8. I broke this particular stall by consuming more protein. Hoping the scale keeps going down this week!

I used Tyson premium chunk white chicken. You can definitely use rotisserie. I just bought some today :-)

This is just something I made today on the spot. My husband loved them too so I thought I would share: Ingredients: 3 small whole wheat tortillas 2 (5oz) cans of chicken 2 wedges of Laughing Cow Light Queso Fresco & Chipotle cheese 1 Tbsp Mrs Dash Fiesta Lime seasoning Salsa to taste Directions: Put chicken in a bowl and add seasoning and cheese. Mix well. Spray skillet with cooking spray and add one or two tortillas (depending on the size of your skillet) on medium high heat. Add chicken mixture and a bit of salsa. Allow tortilla to crisp up a bit then fold and flip. This made three tortillas but it could have made maybe a fourth but I kind of stuffed my husbands. One was plenty enough for me. Total calories, minus the salsa because I didn't measure it was 660 for three quesadillas. Here's how it breaks down: 160 cals per can of chicken 35 cals per wedge of cheese 90 cals per tortilla

I hope you like it :-)

Will My Stomach Stretch? Interesting information
TonyaNKy replied to 1SuperBonBon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon said it can't stretch. So I'm not convinced yet that it actually will. I think people who gain their weight back just find ways around it. Eating junk and slider foods, for instance. -
I had a great 4th. I realized I didn't need food to have fun with my family! It was the first 4th I've had in years that I felt good enough to go all day. How does someone give up on the sleeve? Did she lose restriction or just ate bad all day? Congrats on 3 more pounds!!!

Aug. 21st Surgery Date and I am starting to panic
TonyaNKy replied to Rainbow1958's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm almost 2 months post op and the closer I got to my surgery date the more I questioned if I was doing the right thing. Now, after almost 50 pounds down, with energy I haven't had since I was 20, (I'm 44) I KNOW I made the right decision. I am so happy that I went through with it. Every day is a gift now :-) -
After seeing some of your rave reviews and before and after pics, plastics in TJ is looking better every day! My question is about getting into TJ. I'm no where near Mexico, so how would you guys recommend getting there? Fly into Mexico or fly into Cali?

I'm in. This is my first time too. CW: 264 GW: 234 Here's to wishful thinking!

If you are asking for advice...
TonyaNKy replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
As a food addict I sympathize with others and try not to take it personal if they reply with something rude. I think maybe it might just be the fact that they have given up their crutch and are having a difficult time adjusting. -
I'm six weeks out. I started having headaches two days after surgery so I started drinking Mio Energy and they quit. Are you taking your vitamins?

If you are asking for advice...
TonyaNKy replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am only 6 weeks post-op and rely so much on the vets experience and the kindness they've shown me. I also love to help people and when I become a vet I will for sure remember these days and give back freely the advice that has been and is being given to me. -
Question about surgery in Mexico
TonyaNKy replied to TonyaNKy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh, my mistake. I had hoped to do it in TJ because I have a friend that lives there. But I'm still researching. That's amazing! I can't believe they do that. They seem to take much better care of you than here.
