    Terrible hair Loss

100 grams a day is an awful lot! Mine said 60-80.

    Terrible hair Loss

Are you getting in your protein? At least 100 grams a day? That's what my surgeon said would lead to hairloss.
  3. Ask your surgeon to put you on actigall. You take it 1 week post op to prevent any problems but you have to take it for 6 months.
  4. My surgeon put me on a medication to prevent gall bladder problems and I have to take it for 6 months.
  5. I'm not sure I would have gone through with it if I would have had to wait a year even though I'm really happy that I got it done.
  6. I have anthem bcbs through my husbands work, also. Everybody's journey is so different. I would hate to have to wait six months. I heard that was the norm for a lot of people.
  7. Wow! You're lucky! I met one lady at my surgeons office and she had to pay $5000 out of pocket.

    Only one day in hospital?

I went in Wednesday, May 21st and had my surgery at 11:24am. I was discharged at 7:30pm Thursday. If you're walking and using your spirometer and doing good, they send you home. It's been a week today and I feel great!
  9. He suggested to me to do a shake or drink every 4 hours.
  10. Your sleeve will not stretch. That's a myth. But you are sabotaging yourself for what? Have you considered therapy? If risking death wasn't enough to get you to change your habits, there's nothing anyone can say to you on here to help you. I would recommend therapy ASAP.
  11. My surgeon said that the human body can onLy absorb 25g of protein at a time. That means you have to split it up. Don't be fooled by products that say they have 60g of protein per serving. Your body isn't absorbing 60g so you're drinking it thinking you're getting all your protein in and you're only really getting 25g
  12. My surgeon used no stitches just skin glue. He didn't use a catheter and I had an onQ pain control device implanted under my skin. I had to take it off when I got home. They also sent me home with those inflatable boots to wear at night or whenever I'm going to be sitting longer than 30 minutes. I'm on a pill to keep from getting gallstones for the next 6 months. My pre-op diet was anything for 2 weeks before surgery unless it had carbs or sugar or high fructose corn syrup. So I ate a lot of bacon, steak, hamburger, chicken and fish. Post op diet is a week of clear liquids, then the next week cream soups, creamy peanut butter, bananas, low carb yogurt and the like. I take a ton of vitamins as well as 4 protein shakes or drinks a day. It's been one week since my surgery and so far I feel amazing!
  13. My onQ pump was in addition to morphine as I needed it from the nurse. My surgeon doesnt do catheters because he wants you up and walking as much as possible. I really appreciate the replies. I like reading the differences in doctors. How do I put a pic on my profile?
  14. My surgeon told me the body can only absorb 25 grams at a time and to do 25 every 4 hours to make sure I get it all.

    5 months out & struggling

It's helpful because some people need a wake up call and have the truth lay bare to them instead of a "there, there" pat on the head. She went through all of this just to sabotage herself with junk food? She made a conscious choice to risk DEATH to be healthy. Someone needs to give her a shake so she can wake up and see what she's doing. It's not worth it. There's people in her life that love her and want her to be around longer.

    5 months out & struggling

I just had my surgery Wednesday and I just can't for the life of me understand why someone would have major surgery that could have caused them to die and then start eating crap again. It blows my mind.
  17. Hi, my name is Tonya. I'm a 44 years old mother of five ages 16, 2, 3, 4 and 4. Number 2 and one of the 4's I have permanent custody of and I'm trying to adopt :-) I am going to try and not ramble but I do sometimes. I was never an overweight child, never gained more than maybe 20 pounds extra in high school. In college I was able to maintain 135 pounds with no weight gain. I'm 5'5. When I was 25 I got married. At 27 I got pregnant with my first child and gained 100 pounds. He weighed 11 pounds at birth. 10lb15oz exactly. From the year of his birth, 1998, until the present, I have not been under 200 pounds. My last weight was 300 at pre-op testing. Years of being abused emotionally and mentally by his father made me turn to food for comfort. I don't drink or smoke or do drugs but I had my food. He fussed about my weight so I defiantly ate more and more. He said he was ashamed of me, told me I was worthless for 9 of the 12 years we were together. So, I left him in 2006 and in 2009 reconnected with my best friend from high school. We married that year and now have 2 kids together :-) he never made an issue of my weight and loved me the way that I am. So I thought, he deserves a healthier wife than this because he's so good to me. I really thought I could diet and lose the weight because I was finally happy. Nope. I had learned what a powerful drug food was and I couldn't let go. Almost 5 years after I married this perfect man, I got my sleeve. I now 5 days post op and am feeling great. Feel free to ask me any questions if you have any. I'm an open book :-)

    Who Are You?

I'm Tonya. I just turned 44 on Saturday the 24th. I live in Lexington, KY and I love Kentucky basketball!! I have a 4 pound 13 year old yorkie named Bentley and a 4 year old silky named Tybee. I also have a Russian Blue cat named Hershel and an orange cat named Merle. If you haven't already figured it out, I LOVE The Walking Dead! I had my first child when I was 27, about to turn 28 back in 1998. I then had two kids back to back. In January 2010 I had my daughter and 11 months and 15 days later I had my other son January 2011. Last year I found out my step sister was abusing her kids and I now have permanent custody of the and am in the middle of adopting them. They are 2 and 4. I've been married twice. Once to an abuser for 12 years and the last and only time was to my Prince Charming. I hate snakes more than anything in the world.
