At a wedding reception right now and you guys would be so proud of me! I'm starting to feel a bit of hunger finally for the first time in 3 weeks! I didn't want people to ask questions at our table so I put some extra food on one side of my plate that was really for my husband. There was such a good spread that I actually had some good options which was a nice surprise. Over the course of the afternoon/evening I've had: 1 deviled egg, 3 bites of pulled pork no sauce (went down surprisingly well) and 4 (thankfully overcooked) green beans

Tasty Protein packed recipe: Spicy Black Bean Purée (3 servings, 1/2 cup) 1 can organic black Beans, rinsed and drained 2 tbsp fat free Greek yogurt 1 tsp balsamic vinegar 1 scoop protein power (unjur.y unflavored) - you can add 2 if u want but 1 disappears completely Salt, pepper, dried parsley, cayenne to taste Purée in a cuisinart until smooth- adjust Greek yogurt if you want it creamier. Delicious, and a half cup serving has 12g protein. The spiciness of the cayenne hides the Protein powder taste really well.

Definitely change the dressing at least once a day and additionally after the bandages get wet. Swab with alcohol wipes each time around the drain site and the tube. Did they show you how to sterilize the drain opening after you empty it?

Aw! Feel better! After my dumping experience it took about 36 hours before I had the courage to have non-broth foods. Everybody- invest in a pack of wet wipes and keep them in the bathroom for dumping emergencies! My Mother in law recommended this and she was totally right. It made a gross and terrible situation a little bit better.

aww man now I feel like a whiney baby! I've never had a kid, so I don't know what my pain tolerance is. Even if my pain tolerance is super wimpy I don't care- the fact is I hurt???? I'm walking daily 2-3 miles except yesterday, but every once and while I feel sharp pains that make me see stars and yell cusses. I think I deserve the best relief modern medicine has to provide. I want to get back to work and I don't feel like it's going to get better in the next week.

Had my two week check up yesterday and everything seemed fine. I mentioned to him that I was on the last of my painkillers after kinda weaning myself off them a bit. He said the pain was normal. There is a large stitch in my abdomen holding two muscles together until they heal over where the tools went in. He said it will take 4 more weeks to dissolve. I was holding up okay walking everyday with a bare minimum of painkillers. Yesterday I didn't get a chance to walk as much as usual so I thought the pain would be less: But last night HOLY SH&t. I was in agony. Couldn't even sit comfortably in a chair on on the couch. I could literally feel the stitches in my muscles pulling. I was in tears by the time I got in bed, even after downing the last 15 ml of lortab. Im calling the docs office today to demand more painkillers- because this is fucking ludicrous. I cannot go 4 weeks like this. I own my own business and I can't be crying on the couch for 4 more weeks. Are you guys still in pain? Still on painkillers?

Unflavored has no sugar substitutes in it.
-
Nope I'm still on week 2-3 stage -I'm allowed strained soups made with skim milk, but just had an adverse reaction to one.
-
I used a wedge pillow under my legs while I slept for the first two weeks. I found it was easier than wedging my back up. I had my knees super high almost almost perpendicular while I slept lol???? The pain while walking is normal. You can ask your doc for more meds if its too much to get around the house. I'm at the point where I'm trying to wean myself of pain meds and trying to do 2 miles of walking daily. (My neighborhood is gorgeous right now! Photo below) It fucking hurts???? but every day gets s little better I think cause the walking stretches out the damaged muscles in my abdomen and makes the next time a little easier.

Careful with Cream of Stuff soups! Last night I tried a couple spoonfuls of cream of celery ( the Campbell's healthy version made with skim milk) and had my first baaaad tummy reaction. My pouch was very unhappy for 3 hours- nausea, gurgling, diarrhea. My husband rested his head on my stomach and said it sounded like a bubbling angry cauldron- very appropriate and festive for October!

Yep. The lortab is okay but damn I miss that magic morphine button.

The unflavored is nice because it disappears in almost anything except plain water. The chicken soup unjur.y is pretty good too. A little salty but it's such a nice switch from those sweet protein drinks. Add it to warm chicken or beef broth and it's instant soup. Tastes kind of like cup noodles or chick'n biscuit crackers.

Everybody needs a Wonder Woman thermos.
-
Omg 1 entire scoop of unjur.y unflavored dissolves perfectly into 1/2 cup of sugar free dark chocolate pudding. It's delicious. Also went shopping with my mom yesterday and definitely over-did it on the walking. But my victory of the day was packing a little bit of broth and unjur,y in my wonder woman thermos because I knew sitting in front of the sbarro while my mom devoured a chickfila fried chicken sandwich was definitely going to happen. I'm not physically hungry but I'm at the point where smells are starting to make me kind of crave things. And holy crap sbarro smells delicious. So all in all I think it was a victory.

Hi! Warning this is specific and gross. My bypass was on 10/6 and after 2 nights in the hospital I came home with a drain. It's now 10/12 and Fluid in the drain is still "fruit punch" colored. It's a little bit lighter than it was before- but there's definitely a bit of blood still. And I'm still collecting at least 1-2 oz of liquid a day. It seems like a lot of liquid for six days out, but I don't know what's normal. The doc is supposed to take the drain out in 3 days. The drain site itself is clean and discharging a bit everyday. I change the bandages daily and it looks okay. No fever. Has anyone else had a similar drain experience? Should I be worried?

Drain question

It's out! Definitely one of the weirdest sensations of my life when the doc pulled it out. It's such a relief! I didn't realize how much of my discomfort was because of the drain. Glad I had it and glad it's gone! -
That 1/2 cup is a good idea! I just ate a pudding cup over the space of 30 minutes and I was afraid it was too much.
-
Is anyone else still struggling with "fullness"? I'm trying to be really careful not to over fill my pouch, but it's hard to know what full feels like. I definitely err on the side of not full rather than painfully full, so I'm not even sure what full feels like! There's no more hungry vs not hungry signals to help me differentiate. How do you guys do it? I'm asking because sometimes I feel like I can drink more Water than I should, so I have to concentrate on not over doing it.
-
Yep! My bm's are 3-5 days apart now. It's freaking weird!!!
-
The unofficial RNY motto: "never trust a fart."
-
Ugh why does it change any mention of unjur.y. To that weird medical quality Protein link?? And delete whatever comes after! Admittedly it's a great product but it makes me feel like a corporate schill

Just had my one week check up. I'm very relieved that he took my drain out. Definitely one of the weirdest sensations of my life. Very fast and strange. Now I feel so much better and the pain I. My left side is a lot better. It's weird to think that the tube goes that far into your body. I've been cleared for Stage 2 liquids - skim milk and Protein powders are okay, as well as fat free thin Soups like tomato Soup and sugar free puddings. Just had a cup of chicken stock with unjury chicken soup flavored Protein powder. Freakin' delicious. I feel like 80% of my recovery is done and it's only been a week! Now I can't make any more excuses and putting off working from home ???? guess I better get to work soon. I think I'll work from home for 2 weeks and then go back to work full time!

Seriously the best thing about coming home with a drain? I have not worn a bra in a week. Yeah. The girls are free and breezy.
