    Day 1 post op

Congrats on your new life! I have surgery a week and 3 days ago. I had surgery on a Monday and my pain was gone by Friday. I was very so but no pain. I tried to be on my feet as frequently as I could. I walked and walked. That helps a lot with the gas. I know the gas is awful but it should be working its way out soon. When you pass your swallow test, they will prob give you ice chips. Try to burp if you can. Also try laying on your left side. If you can try sitting up in bed. The gas is not fun, but it will pass.

    4th of July Challenge

I'm so in! I have my 2 year anniversary and a beach trip on July 8th. My goal weight is 240.
  3. I had surgery on May 19th. I'm floating in your same boat. I just want FOOD! I'm allowed to have cream of chicken soup and cream of mushroom soups. I can also have coffee with sugar free creamer. If you haven't tried Adkins mocha protein shakes, then you should..they are good! I also am allowed Greek yogurt. I get the strawberry kind and don't get the fruit. Check with you dr or nutritionist and see if any of these are ok with them. Like I said all doctors are different. I hope things get better!!
  4. Hi guys, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Paige and I'm 21 years old. I started my journey for the 4th time in February 2014 trying to have gastric bypass surgery. The past 3 times have been failed attempts due to emotions, not ready, or my dad not supporting me. After all the testing, many dr appts, and support group meeting I finally had my 2nd birthday May 19th, 2014. I am 6 days out and feel great!!! I have had a breakdown since surgery. I have craved fried foods so bad. It's crazy. I have found out and came to the realization that I have lost my best friend(food). The post op diet has been pretty challenging. I didn't think it would be this challenging. I'm physically doing amazing, but mental it's HARD! Does anyone have any suggestions or pointers on how to handle this hard time with my post op diet? Also can anyone who has had the surgery give me some lead way into what I may experience in the next few weeks on my journey.

    September surgery

I was in the hospital for 2 nights. Anesthesia is awful for me. I have had it two times and I get sick on it. I feel very fatigue and get motion sick. They will ask you in the hospital if you have ever had it. They will give you medicine and I got a patch too because it's awful for me. It goes away for me within around 24hrs or so. Everyone is different. Some people it doesn't bother. I know the waiting part is hard and anxious. The first day isn't fun but it gets better each day. Like I said, I had mine on Monday and the 5th day out I was at a race and today I'm at a concert. You will do just fine.

    September surgery

I had gastric bypass surgery on May 19th. I'm sure you know just to get to the surgery is very long and stressful at times. One of the suggestions I would recommend is when you do start your pre op diet, make sure you stick to it. Otherwise you could be turned away on surgery day. I would recommend setting goals for yourself as well. When you are in the hospital you really really really need to walk after your surgery. It's the fastest way to heal. I'm 6 days out and I'm at the pool and going to a concert. I walk multiple times a day. You will recovery so much faster. I also wouldn't stock up on protein shakes because sometimes your taste buds change after surgery. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Good luck in your new life!

    Newbie

I completely understand all of those emotions. I just had my gastric bypass surgery this past Monday on the 19th. It was the best decision I have made. The hardest thing for me is loosing my best friend(food). I didn't think between the pre op and post op diet that it would be hard, but it's very hard. I crave fried foods so bad. I'm sure you will go thru this eventually if you haven't already. It is awesome that you have such a great support system! A great support system keep you motivated and stays positive. Good luck thru your entire new life!!!
