Hi!
My name is Darlene and I am a 52 year old disabled housewife....I became disabled the end of 2010 when I hurt my back. It was not a related to the current job injury, but many years of working job injuries...(if that makes sense). I have worked all my life and the kinds of jobs wreaked havoc on my back. Anyways, I became disabled. I went to see a surgeon about my back and he told me to lose 75 lbs. My current weight at that time was 290. He said he could preform surgery with my weight at 215...not an unattainable goal...so I thought.. I started seeing a weight loss nurse and I changed my eating habits, I started to lose the weight. I was so happy...I was down 40 lbs...more than half way....then in February of 2011, my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer....I didnt care anymore...the pounds slowly came back on...I mean...a week in the hospitial with him, I didnt care what I ate...all the chemo appointments (we were there for 7 hours every 2 weeks)...we ate and ate. He started feeling better and his appetite was ferocious!!! So we ate!!! Eating was our pasttime. Oh BTW....He is cancer free as of November 2013!!!!....So anyways, my weight went up and up....I hit 299!!! I told myself at the beginning of this weight loss journey that I would never have surgery to lose weight....well on September 19, 2013....I said enough was enough...I told my doctor that I wanted weight loss surgery, and the second phase of my journey started....I had to jump the hoops of the 6 month doctors visits and all and finally in March of 2014 I was approved for surgery...I chose the sleeve gastrectomy as my tool for weight loss. On April 21, 2014 I had the surgery...I am one month out....In fact, I just started my soft diet phase.

I hope to benefit from this site many things....answers to my questions, maybe some recipes, and just some encouragement when things look tough!!!

So there is my story so far...I know I have a long way to my goal of 150lbs., but so far so good!!!!!

:D :P ;) :)
