    Afraid of failure

My mom has had the sleeve for about 2 years and I just recently got RNY. She's had really bad acid reflux and gained weight back. The weight gained was much more of a bad choices kind of thing though. She drinks soda and doesn't ever work out and I highly doubt gets all her Protein in. That being said, any weight loss surgery could be unsuccessful if you don't do what you're supposed to do. Like someone else said, it's a tool, not a quick fix. Talk it through with your doctor and he/she should be able to calm your worries. Best of luck!!

    Do I need a therapist?

I'm going to call my doctor's office tomorrow and see if they can recommend me someone.

    Do I need a therapist?

@@gowalking Thank you. I knew going in it wasn't going to be easy but I guess I wasn't emotionally prepared.

    Do I need a therapist?

I have Tricare and I'm not sure if there would be a co-pay. I'm not quite sure about a bariatric center of excellence but I would love a referral to a therapist that deals with these kind of patients. I do, I have a kitty and I love her. She's my baby!

    Horrible Reflux

I've heard and read... and I could be wrong... that sometimes the sleeve can cause refllux or make reflux worse. Your surgeon or doctor should have sent you home with a script for omeprazole (generic acid reflux med). I've had acid reflux ever since I can remember and since the bypass it has definitely lessened. However, my doc requires all patients take omeprazole (or something similar) for at least 6 months after surgery. I would call your doctor and see what your options are. I'm sure some meds would help a lot.

Tera's Whey - Check this out!

Let us know how you like it! I just tried unjury for the first time and it's actually not bad... but I can foresee getting sick of it real quick, lol. Oy vey. Does getting Protein in ever get easier?
  7. I tried some lean beef today... two bites and that was it. Came back up. Soooo I would definitely stick to the tuna and chicken. I still haven't tried chicken yet but I snack on tuna all day.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I've seen threads about this but I didn't have the sleeve personally. Do a search of the forums and you'll find it! (Sorry I couldn't be of more help)
  9. I did, all of it was normal except that my doc said to call if the fever was over 101 degrees. Definitely call the doc ASAP.

    Dreaming

@ktucker1979: It's the worst in the summer! I mean, of course, I'll throw up my hair if I'm working out or cleaning, etc. But sometimes I would just be sitting at a friend's house and sweating! But no more! I can't believe the difference 20 lbs. makes.
  11. I think you know yourself better than anyone and your boyfriend should respect your wishes. Right after my surgery and throughout the night of, people came and visited me and I hardly remember it because I was in so much pain and on meds. I appreciated it, of course, but it might've been better if they had all just waited to visit me at home so I was at least conscious.

    An NSV to B**ch about!

Bahahaha, this made me laugh. I never thought about it before but now I have been warned. I've actually invested in some cute wristlets for when I don't feel like carrying my purse. Just stick the essentials (phone, chapstick, ID, card/money, keys) in there and go!

    Dreaming

Thank you!! I'm growing out my hair right now and I used to have to put it up all the time and now I leave it down! The hubby loves it, of course. I'm just excited not to be a sweaty, fat person anymore, lol.
  21. Right now, I miss wings... I had a huge sweet tooth before and now I just don't. I used to want ice cream all the time, and now the thought just grosses me out. Soda and I were friends before surgery but we ended our relationship in a good place. It's so horrible for you, even the diet stuff. When you think about what it does to your body and teeth, you just won't even want it. Of course, I miss drinking my water. My friend called me a camel because of how much water I drank, lol.

    cravings/junk food

I don't know if the cravings will ever go away. However, since my surgery, I do NOT crave sweets at all. The thought of ice cream, cake and Cookies just makes me sick. I was a candy fiend as well and the only thing I crave is my Mexican candies, lol. Right now, I crave "junk meat" like wings and ribs. Otherwise, I've had no desire for chips or anything like that. Pretty sure everyone is different, but if you're a sweet tooth like me, I think the bypass gets rid of that, lol.

    Lets talk about shoes!

Wow, didn't even think about the possible size change... I can't wait to feel comfortable walking in heels and wedges but I guess I shouldn't buy any shoes until I lose more weight!

    Driving me nuts

Lol, I guess I can't let it get to me too much... people in general don't get it. I just wanna be like, well if your stomach was a 1/4 of it's normal size and you had your insides swirled around, how long did you think it would take?!!? Huh??
