  1. I am 11 months out from gastric bypass and have lost 65 pounds total. I am needing to lose another 20-30 pounds. I have been stuck at my current weight for well over 3 months. It just won't come off. Any tips? Am I not getting enough Protein? Too many carbs maybe? I do not feel I over eat at any one setting. I eat small portions but possibly I am eating too many sugars/carbs throughout the day. Overall, I just don't feel I eat over 1000 calories a day so I can't figure out why I am not losing anymore. Should I switch to 3 Protein shakes a day and only one meal? Or try to get 3 shakes in regardless of what I eat? Some have said I am not getting enough protein. I am grateful for what I have lost and feel wonderful. I just don't want to have done such a major surgery and life change and not do it to the full measure. I am exercising, although some weeks it is not 5 days a week. Maybe I can get more consistent with that. Any help is appreciated!

    Regergitation? What the heck?

You need the egd. Strictures can worsen over time and leave you not even able to get liquids down. Your surgeon should know and watch you closely in case it does get worse before you have the egd. I had a stricture and for weeks didn't realize vomiting wasn't normal. Some foods I got down and others got stuck, as you describe, and I'd throw them up. Don't delay and be miserable. They can dilate it and you'll feel 100% better.

    Vomiting and food stuck

An update: surgeons office sent me to my GI dr; he did an egd yesterday and I had a stricture at the anastomosis site. It was 8mm and should be 16-20mm. He dilated it to a 12, then in a month will dilate again to a a 16 or so. He said nothing but liquids would have gotten down...it was smaller than a pencil. So no wonder nothing would go down and I always had that stuck feeling. I'm so relieved that wasn't normal! I'm already getting food down 100% better. Feeling great today! Thanks for the help!

    Palatable. Protien shake

I drank Isopure the first week for clear liquids. After that week Isopure became so gross to me I gave away all my bottles of it. I started premier and muscle milk and did well with that for a month. Then I couldn't stomach them so I switched to nectar fuzzy naval and cherry and it was a lifesaver bc it wasn't a creamy kind of drink and I was needing that. So I agree with the idea of not buying a ton of one thing bc you will get tired of it. I never had much luck making smoothies or blending shakes bc the frothing was just gross to me. I hear a lot of people use the unjury chicken soup as well.

    Vomiting and food stuck

Thanks for all the input. I must have a bigger problem as I'm struggling with almost all foods now. Will call the doc in the am. They are expecting to hear from me anyway. I usually naturally vomit, but if you aren't, maybe try burping and it'll help. It's miserable. I feel for ya.
  6. Was hoping some of you could help...I am 6 weeks out and just had a follow up apptmnt where they told me vomiting from food being stuck is not normal. I don't throw up everything. I can keep down yogurts and the like. I can even keep down eggs and chicken at times. But other times it feels very stuck and it comes up. Overall, I seem to throw up every other day or so. The dr gave me the weekend to try and eat small small bites very slowly and see if that was the problem. I had assumed it was just normal or maybe I was eating too fast or too big of bites but the dr says I shouldn't be doing this. I just don't know now. Thursday and Friday I did well without vomiting but today I couldn't digest some chicken and vegetables (a few bites). I feel like I'm not eating enough and would rather not eat and avoid all this but I know I have to. I'm just worried because I don't want another egd, which is what they want to send me for if my weekend didn't improve. Wondering if you think this is me not eating small enough bites (too much too fast) or is this a stricture? Is this common for a lot of you? I'm truly not eating much I know that...but maybe bites are too big.
