  1. Was banded June 3 and have been doing ok but sometimes forget the band is there. Well, today I had food get stuck for the first time and it's an experience I don't want to repeat. A hard but valuable lesson...slow down and chew chew chew!

    I got stuck!

I think I was eating too fast. It was not pleasant but it was an eye opener and I'm actually glad because now I know what I want to avoid! Thanks for your replies!
  3. I know how you feel. I was banded June 3 and until recently, couldn't tell the band was even there. I felt hungry and no restriction. I know the band is a tool, but I couldn't tell it was doing anything. I've had 3 fills now and the one week before last finally gave me hope this might actually work. I see my surgeon again tomorrow and will ask for a little more fill, which I hope will put me firmly in the green zone.
  4. My surgery was June 3 and my doctor has scheduled my first fill for tomorrow. I wasn't expecting a fill until 6 weeks post-op. At my first post-op visit, told her I was experiencing hunger, but I was still on full liquids at that point. Anyone else have a fill this early? Was it beneficial or did you think it was too soon?
  5. I have a prescription that I take in capsule form. My doctor recommended I open the capsule & sprinkle it on applesauce. Immediately post surgery, I tried it on Jell-o, but it was difficult to do and hard to avoid the tiny pills getting everywhere in my mouth. I'm 7 weeks post-op now & I used the applesauce until this week, when I was able to swallow the capsule again. Applesauce was so much easier!!

I really needed a fill... Now no fill for me:(

Jenn I was about to post when I read your post, and it sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing. I'm 7 weeks post-op, had my first fill at just under 4 weeks (while I was still on puréed foods). Since I stated having "real" food again, I've quit losing weight and actually gained 3 lbs. I'm scheduled for fill #2 tomorrow and I really hope it helps. I'm eating way less than I did before surgery, but more than I think I should. I'm not relying on the band to do it all, but I can't even tell it's there and want it to help me out some. I want to be in the green zone so I can have the band experience I'd hoped for!

    Achey under right rib cage

I had surgery June 3 and my first fill last Friday. I thought I could feel my port, but my surgeon had me lift my legs off the table so she could find it and then it was really easy to feel!
  8. My surgery was 4 weeks ago today, so the feelings you're describing are familiar and pretty fresh for me. It's normal to be apprehensive about surgery, and I can't tell you there's a magic way to get rid of your fears. But it helped me to think about my new life after surgery, to think that after years and years of saying "I need to do something" about my weight, I finally was. I tried to relax and let the hospital staff and my family help me through the first few rough days. I pray for a good outcome for you tomorrow. I'm still pretty new at this, but Im not sorry at all I finally had surgery. Keep us posted on how you are and best wishes for a quick recovery.

First fill less than 4 weeks out?

2cc fill...so far, so good! Thanks again everyone!

First fill less than 4 weeks out?

In the surgeons office, everything for the fill on the counter. I'm excited about this! I've been on puréed foods for a week, so not looking forward to Clear Liquids again, but it's temporary. Thank you all for replying...I feel better about this!
  11. My surgery was June 3 and my experience was the same as described here. Once I changed into a gown, I was bundled up with a warm blanket and visited with my mom and sister before they were ready for me. I also couldn't sleep the night before, so I decided not to fight it and just watched tv and read until I dozed off, which was probably around 3 am. Got plenty of sleep the next day, though!
  12. I had my lap band surgery on Tuesday June 3, I'm back at home, no pain meds since Wednesday evening, seem to be doing well. I have experienced some really uncomfortable hot flashes, though, and wonder if this is normal. I'm 55 years old, went through menopause then a complete hysterectomy in late 2012. My flashes have dwindled down to nothing since the hysterectomy, but are really HOT since my weight loss surgery. I have never taken hormone replacements. I hope it's perfectly normal!!
  13. I'm on day 10 of a liquid pre-op diet..it's been better than I had feared but I'm still hungry. I swear this diet is eating away my brain cells! It's hard to concentrate! My surgery is at 7 am tomorrow (June 3) and I'm both excited and nervous. I want to lose this weight once and for all, but it's still surgery and a big change to my relationship with food. Good luck to all my fellow June bandsters! This time tomorrow I'll be banded!!

    Tomorrow is the day!

Thanks to all for thoughts and well wishes. My surgery went well and I was discharged late yesterday. I felt no hunger at all until today, but it doesn't feel like my old hunger pains. Maybe it's has, though! I'm on Clear liquids but moving to full liquids tomorrow. Looking forward to being past the surgery recovery and making progress on weight loss!

    Tomorrow is the day!

    Weeviegurl good luck to you!
  16. I'm on the last day of the pre-op diet. So far I've lost 13 lbs. I think my body is trying to hold on to everything...I went several days without losing any weight at all.

    June 2014 Dates!?

My surgery is scheduled for June 3. I start the liquid diet tomorrow. I'm trying not to obsess about the liquid diet or the surgery, but instead trying to focus on the new life that awaits me. I told my office friends I may be a little cranky next week if I'm struggling with the hunger. Good luck to everyone having surgery soon!
