One month post op and everything is going great. Down 32 pounds and really no problems at all. Eating 3 small meals a day and sometimes yogurt or fruit in between and no problem with being hungry. Making sure to get protein in and taking vitamins and supplements per Dr.'s orders. Hope everyone else is doing as well.

I was on 1,000 mg of Metformin 2 X Day as well and my Dr. had recommended a second Type II Diabetes med when I decided to get gastric sleeve surgery. I am 2 weeks post op and now taking 500 mg of metformin once a day and blood sugar is below 100. Hopefully the trend will continue during my recovery and I will soon be off Metformin.

Started Week 3 Soft/Pureed Foods today and everything is going great. I've been fortunate to have a great recovery with absolutely no problems. No trouble getting the little bit of soft food down that my sleeve will hold and don't go beyond the bite when I know my sleeve is filled. It's really good to eat something somewhat solid after 3 weeks of liquids. Was down 23 pounds (25% of excess weight) one week post op and not weighing again until one month follow up with Dr. Wagner. Not really county calories since I can only eat small amounts at meal time anyway and eating the right foods when I do eat. Hope everyone else is doing well.

3 weeks post op and doing great with absolutely no problems so far. Started Vitamins and Calcium this week but still undecided what Vitamin to go with long term. I'm currently taking 2 Celebrate Chewable multi vitamins a day and 3 Celebrate Calcium capsules (crushed) a day. I will definitely not get Calcium capsules again and will probably go with a Calcet and/or caltrate in the future. I am considering Opurity Vitamins available at unjury.com for future use since they are a one a day chewable. Opurity does provide slightly less in some vitamins but don't really think it's enough to make a difference. Any comments?

Clear liquids today and tomorrow for me too. Not hungry but looking forward to something a little more solid than liquids when I start full liquids. I'm doing really well with little pain, no nausea, no trouble swallowing, down 22.4 pounds and big drop in blood sugar.

Day 2 post op for me and everything is good. Only pain I've had was severe chest pain after surgery for the gas they pump in. Walking soon and often help with that. A little sore but no pain at home, but, that might change when I take the numbing drip off on Thursday. I have liquid pain med for that if it happens. No trouble swallowing sips of liquids. Actually left the hospital feeling as good as the day I went in. Hoping that lasts.

Glad I have an 8:00 surgery time. At the hospital at 5:30 a.m.

Day 4 of liquid diet almost over. After two days I gave up on sugar free Jello & popsicles due to the horrible artificial sweetener after taste. Decaf coffee, green tea, Perrier Water and clear broth is what I'm doing with a Vitamin Zero Water once a day. Never have liked artificial sweeteners and now can't take the sugar free stuff at all. Only 3 days left to surgery day.

Been at home the first two days of liquid diet so I've been able to keep liquids going. Tomorrow will be a little tougher since I'll be working. Not really been hungry but have craved some real food, which I've resisted. I agree that Monday can't get here soon enough.

Pre-Ops done and second day of clear diet. So far so good.

Gout, A side effect from getting sleeved?
erlo54 replied to par1959's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm scheduled for the Sleeve June 30th and since I've had a couple severe flare ups in the past I'm not looking forward to the possibility of another. I've found that cherry juice and fresh cherries do seem to help with a flare up of gout. I also drink Garden of Life Perfect food Super Green Formula mixed with cherry or apple juice (mixed with Water it tastes like liquid grass). Also, just started taking cherry extract capsules as a daily supplement in hopes of preventing future flare ups. I agree that a severe flare up of gout is the a very painful experience. -
Ninja Ultima, Ninja Mega Kitchen or NurtiBullet?
erlo54 replied to erlo54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Might be good advice, par1959. I probably won't buy until I'm Post-Op anyway and would probably use it only with fresh vegetables and fruits after having to use Protein supplements during the first few weeks. Thanks for the advice. -
Ninja Ultima, Ninja Mega Kitchen or NurtiBullet?
erlo54 replied to erlo54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the replies. I was leaning towards the Nutribullet, mainly because it is more compact, but am still undecided. Since I'm looking for a blender to do mostly single serve protein drinks with fresh vegetables and/or fruits so it sounds like the Ninja or Nutribullet would work for me. -
Ninja Ultima, Ninja Mega Kitchen or NurtiBullet?
erlo54 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trying to decide on which blender to choose of these, Ninja Ultima, Ninja Mega Kitchen or NutriBullet. The Ultima has the most power at 2.5 hp (1500 watt) and is available on sale for $194 ($65 off), The Mega Kitchen has a 2 hp motor (1500 watt) and runs $199 but has more accessories (not sure I need them) and the NutriBullet is most compact with a 900 watt motor. Any suggestions? -

Surgery is in 18 days and I am still researching all I can about Gastric Sleeve Surgery. The more I research the more I am convinced that Gastric Sleeve is the right surgery for me. I have no doubts and am looking forward to surgery and post op.
