Stitches>popped>pulled???
coolrn2000 replied to LeighDee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone. I never had any of those feelings of pain. But, when I went for my first and only fill, it was done in radiology. Now get this. I had a tummy tuck on 5/28 and at my post op appt, I mentioned that my port had moved about 3-4 inches. And then found out my port was not even attached to anything !!! How does that happen ?? What if I had not had any surgery ?? I think I blame my bariatric surgeon, but who knows ??? -
kmmhmomof4, I wanted to wear a swimsuit this summer whithout my breasts hanging down to my belly button. And, we had the money so just decided to go for it. Also, had to do it before my husband had other uses for the money. I am happy with my weight now, another 10 pounds would be nice. But, I'm not in any hurry.

I have a big family in numbers and pounds. Yet, I am a very private person. So, I really don't talk to much about my surgery. If they ask questions and are not judgemental, I will talk about it. I work in a hospital and had the surgery there as well. Lots of people notice and say I look good. But, I am the one who doesn't let it get any further. People will usually respect your privacy and drop the subject if you do. I was a lot more sensitive at first, not as bad now. People who judge are usually just jealous. Good Luck.

I had a catheter and it was removed immediately, don't remember any of it. However , I could not urinate for several hours, believe me I tried. So,not sure why my bladder was so shy. I suspect it was the anesthesia. But, I had a tummy tuck last wed, and a catheter as well, was able to urinate immediately. No infections. Just wanted to let you know about the retention. Good Luck !

I agree with booboo kitty, people who "abuse" their children are ignorant. Child abuse and spanking are two entirely different things. The parents or caregivers who cross the line are not going to change with education. Taxpayers have forked over money for education on smoking, drinking, drunk driving, sex, teenage pregnancy and so on and so on. Has the education really changed anything ??

How often do you weigh?
coolrn2000 replied to Twilight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Once a week is more than enough for me. When I was on the diet roller coaster-- lose 20 then gain 10, you know up and down and up and down. For almost 20 yrs. The scale was my master. It controlled my feelings, my outlook, how I treated other people and what I ate. It was very depressing. Since my band, once a week is my promise to myself. I am a nurse, so I weigh on the same scales at the same time. Now I'm not on a diet roller coaster and it feels good. The scales are what we make out of them. evil-vs-good .. -
stretching my pouch?
coolrn2000 replied to meghan1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 4cc band with only one cc. Sometimes I can eat and eat, and sometimes one bite will get stuck. For me, it depends on the time of day and my mood. If I'm in a hurry or even just tired. Just be always aware of how fast you eat. A lot of our problems begin with ---- mind over matter. Good luck and stay positive.. -
Hello You might already know this, salads of any kind are so easy for me to eat. Wendy's and McDonald's have the best. Good luck

Anyone get to stop using acid reflux meds (Nexium,Protonix) post-op?
coolrn2000 replied to citygirl4616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It looks like everyone stopped taking reflux and heartburn meds. Include me with all of you. I have had heartburn for as long as I can remember. Three pregnancies and my oldest is fourteen. Anywho, after my pre-op EGD my doc found that I had H-Pylori. I had to take two weeks worth of a handful of pills four times a day. It cleared up. My surgeon also found a hernia (that seems to be common as well ) To my wonderful surprise, I have not taken one tums, mylanta or any meds at all for reflux and heartburn. ---- AMAZING ----- -
If you are taking pain medication, it is probably also causing the problem. Just continue to take the stool softner and laxative as long as you are on the medicine. Senekot-S is good. Good Luck and Merry Christmas

What habits did you replace eating with?
coolrn2000 replied to kimmi5207's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sunflower seeds. They are time consuming and come in many different flavors. Dill pickle are my favorite. -
Keeping it a secret?

Kudos to you secretstolen, it takes a lot of guts to report hippa violations. I bet some people will be more careful discussing personal medical records. Good Job and Good luck. -
Very new, very excited!
coolrn2000 replied to kiss-my-kitty's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, No, I don't think you have to use any particular wording to let your surgeon or anesthesiologist about your history. They might just give you some antinausea medicine during surgery. -
Your stomach is probably swollen because of all the torture. Did she finally hit your port? I had the doc and his p.a. stick me at least ten times. I had to get filled at the hospital by a radiologist. It sucked:( The only reason to be concerned, if the swelling doesn't go away after a couple of days, and if there is drainage or you have a fever. Hopefully, you won't get an infection. Good Luck

I wish you the best of luck. My only advice is, if you were sick and nauseated from your c-section anesthesia-- then this surgery will make you sick as well. I had dry heaves for several hours after my surgery and thank God my band did not slip. Make sure you tell your Doc. I know your surgery will be a while, but just keep that in mind. You can do this ! -
Assisted Suicide/Interesting Reading
coolrn2000 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am an Oncology nurse, and have been one for 6 years. I have seen many people die and every day I go to work, wonder if someone may die on my shift. We are all going to die. It is just when and how. I agree that someone who is elderly and debilitated should not be subjected to a vent or some extreme measure. Especially if they have expressed their wishes in writing. But, on the other hand they should not be overdosed. Wheetsin is exactly right, the body shuts down and basically the person is in a coma. They are not suffering (in my opinion). God is in control, not doctors or families. He will ultimately decide the time and place. We can make the patient comfortable. (Hospice)
