Hello,
I started my pre-approval process in February. Three months after all the necessary doctors appointments, my results were submitted to my insurance company and 2-3 days later, I was approved for the VSG surgery. I didn't think I would get approved because my BMI was just 40.
In the past I lost 80 lbs. but it was hard to maintain as I would always gain weight during the holidays. I decided to have surgery because I know how I feel when I am at a health/comfortable weight. I suffer from low self esteem so losing weight really helped me. My self esteem was still low however, it wasn't as low as it had been. I really did feel better about myself.
They say losing weight is easy but maintaining the weight is hard. I can attest to that because it has been a real struggle for me to maintain a healthy/comfortable weight. I decided to have the surgery because I need a tool to help me with my weight struggles. I used to joke that I wish I could sew my mouth closed. Someone at work and the VSG and after learning about it I felt it would be the next best thing to actually having my mouth sewn shut. I know what to do and I have no problem exercising and eating right. I just need a constant reminder of my goals. Anyway, here I am on my way to a better, healthier me.
