Hair falling out
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Marathongirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Found some people that have stated with the Biotin they are seeing excess hair growing in other places they are not happy about. I am so glad I didn't take the biotin. I don't want to get more hair in unwanted areas. -

Weigh In- Favorite Protein Shakes?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to AshleePage's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite is Jay Robb. It is light, mixes well and tastes great. I have his chocolate, vanilla, and pina colada flavors. I add Torani sugar free syrups for different flavors. You can buy sample packs at the Vitamin Shoppe to try them. He also has strawberry and orange crème flavors but I haven't tried them yet. They are not really heavy and I like that. I take Premier premade ones if I go away. I mix mine with almond milk unsweetened vanilla flavor. I tried the sample pack of Nector and twisted cherry was good so far but weird since I am used to milky ones. -
I have read that this is very common after weight loss surgery!

Ladies, facial hair after WLS.... WTH, why is it worse? And does it get better?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Rants & Raves
I had mustache hair that I was ignoring because it was blonde and I struggle so with hair in unwanted areas I know once you start plucking or waxing or anything it opens a can of worms so to speak. Well finally I realized I had to do something about it and this product was the answer! I haven't even had to reapply and it has been 2 weeks. -
Ladies, facial hair after WLS.... WTH, why is it worse? And does it get better?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Rants & Raves
Oh my gosh! Thank you for this post and for the responses. I have struggled with unwanted hair in places since puberty too and it is due to my PCOS. That is why I am not taking Biotin and am losing my hair. I have spent way too many years working on removing hair to take something that will promote it. My ob/gyn said the hair growth will not stop after surgery. I did not think to ask if it would get worse! Mine hasn't but I just found the best hair removal product I have ever used-it is a brush on facial hair removal product from Sally Hansen. You brush it on and 8 minutes later your hair is gone. I am amazed at how well it works. Really amazed. It is the greatest thing I have ever tried so ladies go get some and you will love it. I bought it at Walmart. I have plucked for years and years and now my skin on my neck is sagging and this product does not pull the skin any so I think it is going help my neck in more ways then one! -
you would think (rant about my new doctor)
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to moonlitestarbrite's topic in Rants & Raves
The PCP needs to be replaced. Find another one. You should be congratulated and supported by your doctor-if not then he is not right for you. Trust your instincts and find one who cares! Congratulations on your success! -
Low carb diet compliance
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It has been my observation that those that go low carb have higher success rates. I was a diabetic too (guess I am still but not on anything!!!) and carbs were the enemy. Even now I hesitate to put fruits back in my diet because of the fear of blood sugar spikes in even healthy foods. Forget white carbs after surgery. Stick to protein first, then veggies then carbs and you won't miss them! Really! -

My sister....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to shmily's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Be bold and tell her what you told us. She was the only sibling you shared this with and you are disappointed in her response. Great place to start and tell her like it is. She won't know she offended you until you tell her. -
It is sad but I have been heavy all my life and I think I am cautious and non-adventurous. Is it who I am or because of my weight? I don't honestly know. I have never wanted to zip line. I hate roller coasters. As I am losing weight I do see myself sort of coming out of a shell but I don't know where this is leading. I guess it is all good. On my bucket list I am listing experiencing a catamaran trip. I want to sit on that and watch the water go by and be comfortable about who I am and what I am wearing, and not be scared. Big time sharing for me.

Is being frustrated normal?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to leh8709's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Normal! Things get better, they really do an lots of people eat popcorn too. Not me, not yet but it is a trade of I chose to make. We have the right to be in foul moods as we are human and wasn't food a go to thing for us? Now we don't have that. Vent here. It is ok! -
My 5 year journey
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Wallflower7522's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What a nice post. Congrats to you. You have lost double what I have. I started in March. I am not jealous though I am thrilled for you! -
Are you ready for this journey? How bad do you want it? Sugar is not your best friend. It is more like your enemy. You gave up cigarettes which is phenomenal but the sugar will have to go too. You don't want to risk it after surgery. Sugar and carbs have you at the place you are at now. You have to let it go and find the inner you that can do it. As a diabetic sugar is sugar is sugar rather it is honey or not. Your body uses it all the same. Perhaps posting like you did is your way of saying you are getting ready to let this go...how cool for you!

HELP! Liquid diet w/ diabetes
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Kimberly Marie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perhaps you have to stop the meds as you do this? Monitoring must be very strict though. I didn't have to do a preop diet so it didn't affect me but you need to watch your numbers like crazy while you are on this journey. I would make sure you get in touch with your endo to discuss how to do this too they are the sugar experts. They have people on call 24/7. If you don't have one then call the dr that put you on this liquid diet for help. They should be available 24/7 as well. No waiting for a call til Monday if you are on the diet now! -
Denied insurance. We are crushed!
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to jjinWA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I met all the criteria and the first time I was denied. I appealed after doing more of their requirements and then I was accepted. Don't take no for an answer so easily! Find out the details of the appeal process and dot all your i's and cross all your t's and go for it again. Turn the crushed feelings into determination! Good luck to both of you! -

Do you feel better now that you have lost weight?
Sparklingbeauty53 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hear this all the time. What do they mean? I am the same person I was before. I feel fine and I always have. I don't feel any diffferent really. My health has improved, my diabetes has normalized, I no longer need insullin or tons of meds but I didn't have any physical ailments that have improved per se. What am I susposed to say-oh yes I feel much better? I don't. I know in my head I am healthier and I love that but it doesn't make me feel better physically. I never know how to answer that. Can anyone else relate? -
Hair falling out
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Marathongirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had no problem getting Protein in. My goal is 60-80 grams and I am there. Usually around 70. I want to chop my hair off to make me feel better and see less hair all over my clothes but my hubby said leave your hair as it looks fine. He never interjects like that so I am dumbfounded on what to do. I am trying to roll with it and that is all I can do! -

Do you feel better now that you have lost weight?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Sparklingbeauty53's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks again for the responses everyone. I am glad I did this and I know my troubles like knee pain, walking trouble etc. was just around the corner for me so I knew this was a must for me. I don't have big bursts of energy but maybe that will come down the road and I like the response "Yes, I feel better about my accomplishment!" because that is totally true! -
I heard today caffeine can interfere with Vitamin absorption. Don't know if it is true. Anyone know?
