Generating Inspiration
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had surgery in March. After I had lost about 30 pounds I cleaned my closet out. Top to bottom. Nothing went back in that did not fit. Items that were too big (yes, there were lots!!!!) I donated. Items that were too small went into my dream box. Now I walk into my closet and I know everything fits. I have a friend who tells me if something I wear is too large and I trust her so if she tells me it is too large it doesn't go back in. Then every 2 weeks I open the dream box and move items into the closet if they fit. It is a dream come true every morning to pick an outfit. It all fits!!!!!! Just earlier this week I noted the dream box was getting emptied and a friend came in the next day with clothes for me-most of which went into the dream box. I didn't tell a soul about my dream box or that it was getting empty! I have been stalled for like one month and yet clothes are still moving-so even if it is not success on the scale it is success in inches. This so motivates me. I also started an art journal with magazine pictures of outfits I like, bathing suits, thoughts on everything from what I am looking forward to or what I am experiencing and that is fun to create and to read. I record my NSVs too. That is motivating to me. -
GREAT NEW SINGLE LOCATION FOR "STALL TALK!"
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to LivingFree!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am buring my scale. I think we are so conscious of our stalls because we weigh ourselves too much. I am a slave to my scale and I am done. I am going to do as I am told and keep plugging and not worry about it. I am obsessing and I hate it. Now that I have said it I am putting this into action. -
How old do you think I am?

HAD MY BAND+Gastric Plication Weight Loss Surgery YESTERDAY
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to manofsize's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Completely normal! Welcome to the club! -
Pak it lunch boxes are available everywhere. I got mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
-
Buy a Pak It lunch box-you put it in the freezer at night and it keeps your items cold all day with a good ice pack! No snacking. Make everything a meal by having Protein. I don't snack on anything unless it protein. If it has protein it is a meal! Nuts are always a great choice.
-
Hands down the Quest bars rock! I bought a sample pack to see what I liked and I liked the majority of them.
-
unjury would be my suggestion. Order sample packets to be sure you like it. I did that and it is the best I have found for unflavored.

Moody Much? and a question to the Curvy Girls?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Bridgette Black's topic in The Gals' Room
If I am moody I am not aware of it! If anything I am coming out of my shell in a beautiful way. I feel like a butterfly coming from my cocoon. As for the curves I have no idea what I will look like but I think it will be good with maybe a little sag! -
Training for a 5 k - BIG deal for me!
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Sparklingbeauty53's topic in The Gals' Room
Update: Couch to 5 k was too hard, you start running from day one and my daughter felt that was too hard for me at this time so I am doing the Jeff Galloway Easy 5K. Either way I am determined! -
Holding the pillow to your insides as you walk around the house is a good thing to do. It is intense now but it will get better. Can you use utube to listen to relaxing music to put yourself in a state of calm? If you are tense your insides are tense and are not working at optimum. Light some candles, get lost in a good book and walk around the house. It does get better I promise!

Lost and alone

We all fight the battle and we have for years. You are not alone! Perhaps this will be your time. Determination is the key! You seem to have that so go you! -

Supplements-Vitamin & Minerals
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to wyjcole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the liquid calcium from Vitamin Shoppe- nasty, pastey. ordered calcium chews chocolate from Celebrate-Yum. Just found the same thing at costco and I like them better and they are tastier! multi vit gummies, d3, fishoil all from Costco Chewable Iron is the only thing I can't find at Costco. . First blood work was normal. -
I went shopping this weekend with my family. While in banana Republic I tried on a sweater because I was cold. (not normal for this hot momma!) and it fit. I mean looked good in the front, back, it FIT! I told my family, "I am having a moment! " I bought it too. I have never in my life owned anything from Banana Republic! What a thrill!

Halfway to goal with pics
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to greensleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great job! -
Thank you everyone for the posts. It is so hard not to compare yourself to others! I had no weight loss prior-so I started at zero. Now at 41 and the scale isn't budging but I am tossing it out too. I weigh myself too much and 2 times a month is enough, I like that idea. I am too over doing it with this. I have to stop comparing too and just be happy with where I am and count the inches too. Inches do couont! Rome wasn't built in a day and since when was the scale this important to me? Never!!!!! I am just thrilled to be on this train.

Getting a medical ID tag
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Angela25's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
They look for the caduceus-and mine is big enoough to not miss. Nsaid can cause hemmorages and we could bleed to death so no nsaids. Lavage/gavage refers to the intubation for breathing and stomach pumping. -
Getting a medical ID tag
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Angela25's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
We all should have them. If something happens to you emergency personnel are trained to look for medical alerts. You are not the same as a normal person. They can't treat you like they would a person who did not have surgery. They can't pump your stomach. They can't just intubate you like normal...they need to know that so you are protected. Also no nsaids which are common practice to use. I threw in no sugar because my blood surgar spikes with glucose ivs. Lauren's Hope has nice bracelets that don't look as medical like. Discount code FAN for 10% off. Mine says my name, gastric bypass RNY, No blind NG/Lavage, No blind gavage/OG, No sugar/nsaids. The engraving made the bracelet pricy (started at $45.00 and ended up costing $77.00 but now I can buy other straps and just interchange the medical engraved part with the new straps. My future plan since I love jewelry. You can choose the color of the medical caduceus (medical symbol) as well. Mine is pink not red. I think it is less scary looking lol! -
Amazing Meal by Amazing Grass, anyone?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to JawaGal42's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
It is all about the taste, and texture, Synthax is like koolaid on drugs to me. I prefer ones made with milk (I use unsweetened almond milk). Water mixed with Protein does nothing for me except the chicken broth one by unjury. It is what you personally prefer. -
Amazing Meal by Amazing Grass, anyone?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to JawaGal42's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I still experiment now. I just received nectars from synthax - very different. Don't love it. Hate some like some sort of. unjury so far I like what I have tried Chike no Isopure haven't tried but lots of people complain about them so I haven't even ventured Muscle Milk- it is ok Premier I like Jay Robb my favorite. Point is give them a try but only buy the sample packets so you don't waste your money. I did not have any taste changes post surgery except to say I like fish now and previously I hated it. -
It is cheaper in Mexico. Look at the blog The World According to Eggface. She went somewhere in Mexico and had an excellent result. Start researching. There is also a place that sponsors people who have been denied. They only support 1 or 2 people per year but that is in the US. I will research that and get back on here to give you the information.

I have skinny legs (I mean skinny) and they are getting smaller but the definition and shape has remained intact.
