Other than shopping, I'm addicted to.....
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to w8loser's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I like sparkle. I like solid nail color on my toes and then sparkle over it in a coordinating color. Lots of sparkle, thus my name. I get compliments on my toes all the time. My favorite is copper color with copper sparkles. My toes just shine! It sounds tacky but it is classy. -
Heads up! Everyone here is addicted to food. Don't be fooled! Rather they admit it or not they are. You have conquered one and added another. Big deal! This is your new tool to be free of all addictions. You will shine and you will conquer. Being aware of it is half the battle. As Dr. Phil says you can't conquer what you don't acknowledge. You are half way there!

I was lucky. I have BCBS and no diet or weight requirements were needed beyond the 6 months of Nut and dr visit. I had several last meals....and was told to go ahead and do that!

I am a newbie so I can't help you but I am glad you are here and maybe someone here can help you out! Nash is scary and is what killed my mother so my prayers go out to you. That is serious! I hope your doctors/therapists can consult with WLS and find a program for you! Good luck! -
Informing People You've had WLS /Lap Band
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to UbermenchPosibility's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Top Secret Shhhh! Don't tell a soul. It is no one's business but mine. It is on a need to know basis. Period. I don't talk about my weight and you don't talk to me about it either. It is forbidden. I'll share my age before my weight, wait, no I won't share my weight with anyone for any reason. That was me. That was me for 53 years. Then one day I decided to have RNY to help myself get healthy. Bottling in my weight amount(keeping a secret), getting bigger and bigger every year, having more and more heath problems each and every year, keeping my weight a secret was really a farce. One look at me and you knew I was an unhealthy over 200 pound mess! It wasn't a secret! Having RNY has been the best blessing I could ask for. It has helped me take charge of my life, lifestyle and health. I will shout it from the rafters now. I am neither ashamed nor fearful of what anyone thinks because it doesn't matter. What matters is what I feel and think about it now. I am so proud of my bravery for doing it. I am so proud to say my health in just a few months is already brighter and better. I am proud to say I am morbidly obese but I am doing something about it because it is and always has been all about me! Last year at this time I couldn't even talk about it. Bottom line- it is a personal thing and the way you handle it is the right way. It is your way! -
Annoying gurgling

Ok, I listened to your recording. It struck me so, so funny because that is it! I have those sounds too and in fact, I had mine going while yours was going which caused me to go into a full-blown laugh out loud experience. I had RNY. When and if any one gets info on this I am all ears! (pun intended!) -
I thought I was (fill in the blank), but really, I was just fat.

From watching my 600 pound life on tv I decided two things. I would update the bra when needed so the girls always look perky and it would make me look better overall in all my clothes and I would buy clothes at second hand shops along the way to make me feel better and to avoid chaffing from old big clothes. Now I am paying medical bills and that is even more important to me so I can afford clothes. I never had luck in second hand shops as a larger person so maybe as a smaller person this will be better. It is good to just shop from my closet right now! I believe we need to feel good along the way...so a few bucks for a bra is worth it. I am deflating... -
Im sure there is a thread out there but....

All good advice here! I started an art journal with thoughts, phrases, pictures of skinny looks I liked, bathing suits I liked, comments about what I was looking forward to, measurements, etc. it got me really pysched and it was a great release of energy and thoughts. I also tried tons of Protein drinks and learned what I liked or didn't like. My tastes for Protein shakes is specific and I don't like most so it is good to try samples or singles only. Enjoy the journey! -

I am with all of you. i hear noises and feel them too. Not all of the time but lots of times. Sometimes other people can hear it. I just figure it is normal. I notice it a lot when I eat and then I stop because if I don't, I overeat. I think it is our pouches telling us they are working?! -
Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am sorry you are losing a friend in your opinion but she seems to be more of a zealot; not a friend. Your loss is our gain, come be our friend here. We are much less judgmental and we see it your way-getting healthier! If it was plastic surgery it wouldn't be covered by health insurance. Her ignorance shows. I'd count whatever she weighs as part of your weight loss! With friends like her you don't need enemies. -

Sparklingbeauty53 replied to James Marusek's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
James- Thank you for this most informative read. Very honest and succinct. Amazing photo, recipes and tips. Everyone should take the time to read this and reap the benefits. I can't have beef for another 3 months according to my doctor but I am trying the chili recipe as soon as I can! -
Lovin my protein shake
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Mrs.Harkness's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The Torani Syrups are the best. I love the coconut one. I add it to all my shakes and love it. Do try them as they add a whole world of flavors to your protein! -

Going..Going..Can't Wait Until All of This extra Weight is Gone....
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to MrsGloMartin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you! I am just starting to feel the wonderfulness of being thinner, being full and seeing reactions from friends and family. I went away to my nephew's graduation and many of the family members were shocked and complimented me on my weight loss, how I looked, etc., the new me. These are people that love me no matter my size but how nice for them to praise me! It was a big thrill and ego booster! -
Boyfriend is post-op gastric bypass. If he doesn't change his ways, I can't be with him
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to concernedaboutthebf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It doesn't seem to me this is a relationship built in trust, love, open communication, etc. Just with what you stated in this post there are issues that need to be addressed. Just as it has been said before-you can not change people! Your wishes for him are not his. He has to have the same dreams for himself. If he does not then it isn't meant to be. I am so sorry! -
Just got home today!
