All my information was sent on yesterday to the insurance company. I have heard other people getting approved very fast with BSBC of any state, as long as u send them the required documentation, you should be all set. I went to the website Trying To Conceive Ticker and pick out my ticker, copied and pasted the one I wanted to the signature link here under my profile on the lap band, that way everytime you post, your ticker would show up just like a signature. Thanks for the complement. I think this name fits me to the tea. Caramel :ranger:

I am 5'2 and 214 lbs and I wear a size 18 consistently. My shirts are XL or 1X because I have a little excess skin due to prior pregancies and I have a pear shape, so I have more junk in my trunk, if u know what I mean. I hope to get down to 130-135lbs. Does anyone know what size that is because I have not been there in so long. Waiting to be banded Caramel:ranger:

I forgot, the Bariatric center sent my request in to BCBS and they wrote back for me to have those things done that I listed in a prior reply. All my paperwork was in as of today. I will let you know when I receive the letter or call about approval. I heard they don't take long as long as u send them the information they have requested. Caramel

I have not been approved yet. I called BSBC on the back of my card and the representative talked me through the website to fid the requirements. The website is Health Insurance Offered by EmpireBlue and click the blue box to enter the site and under the goggle search box is the advance search link click that and then type in bariatric and it should be the 2nd option that gives you all the info. Better yet here is the link to the requirements. Good luck SURG.00024 Surgery for Clinically Severe Obesity Caramel

Beau, Try and think back to why it is u had the surgery, to boost your self esteem and confidence. Take this time to reflect on yourself and making yourself happier and then when you are feeling good about yourself, you can knock down any obstacle that comes your way including divorce. Don't let the negativity effect the one thing that is going to make to your life better. My mom always told me there is no one out there and is going to take better care of yourself, but you.

Carrot, Did you lose weight prior to having the surgery or did you lose since you had the surgery? Caramel

I was wondering if anyone had their surgery done at the Bariatric Hopsital in Ypsilanti, MI? I am a pre banded patient and was wondering about the care they give there. The doc told me that the only thing that they do at this hospital is bariatric surgeries. I was hopeing someone could shield some light on the subject. Caramel :ranger:

I have BCBS Empire Blue and they do cover the surgery. My requirements were that I get a psych eval done, 6 mths of failed diet attempts and I letter from my primary doc stating that I am capable of going through abdominal surgery. My comorbidities were hyper-tension, stress bladder incontinence and I have arthritis in both knees.

Medical professionals....Please look at my incision

If I were you I would just put steri strips back on it and let it heal on its own until you hear back from your doctor. If the doc does not call you back go to a med center or to the ER. I would not put anything on top of it like gauze because it stops it from healing properly. You need to let air get to it as it aids in the healing process. The puss will heal up and turn that color scab, but don't pick it. The hard surface on top serves as a protective barrier. Just put a couple steri strips back on for now. I would not even put and liquids on it either. If it starts to look green on color then I would get in right away. Just take a shower as usual and applay the new steri strips. A sign of infection is the color change of the site and if you start to have a fever. Keep an eye for those things until the doc calls you back. Good luck Caramel -
Poll: Time off between surgery and work
Caramel replied to laphappy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am a tech at a hospital and I am required to lift patients in bed and up to their feet. I was just wondering how long should I be off. We dont have that many sick days accrued. Has any one taken a short term disability leave. I do not want my co-workers to know. Caramel :ranger: -

Jachut, I have been reading a lot of your success stories and was wondering what is was your regime to lose the weight? I know everyone is different but I have been really inspired by your post and hope to acheive my weight goals. I you give me good tools that you have used since you started your journey? Thanks in Advance Caramel -
I just throught would maybe stretch the band out by consuming a lot of liquids. My sis says her doc told her because you consume air and with liquids which can fill u up faster.:ranger:

I have been reading posts about people having the lapband surgery with an omnipaque band. I would like to know if there is a difference in the bands. From the profiles I have been seeing, the people who have the omnipaque band have lost more weight. I could wrong, but just wondering if someone could clear this up for me. Does anyone have this type of band that could speak on this matter. Thanks Caramel :ranger:

I have done my consultation with the doc, done my nutrional evaluation over the phone and faxed in my multiple attempts at weight loss. All I have left is a medical clearance form my primary doc and my psych eval, which is scheduled for this Friday and hopefully I will have my surgery in November. My insurance will pay for the surgery, it is just a matter of the documnetation that I hand in. Wisk me Luck Caramel:ranger:

I have call the Barix Clinic and they said that the nutrtional evaluation could be done over the phone. So taht was a relief. Thanks for all your feedback. Caramel

Does anyone know what happens at nutrional evaluation? I have to do one for my insurance and what everything to go smooth so that I will not be denied. :help:

So did you have to make an appointment or they the place where you went set that up?

Does any body know if Dr. Schram (Barix in Holland) wants his patients to be on a pre-op diet before surgery? If so, if you would be willing to share that information. I am waiting on pre-op testing and was wondering if anyone on the board went to him for surgery? :ranger:
