PLEASE! Dear God, Can I get some coffee?

Thanks everyone for your input. I know all surgeons are different. I am not allowed caffeine. I tried decaf. and it just didn't do it for me. I think once I'm a little further out, I'll test the waters.

PLEASE! Dear God, Can I get some coffee?

I am only on post-op day #9. I am having little trouble following my liquid/ protein intake requirements. My recovery so far has gone well. I lost 12 lbs. at my one week post-op follow up and a total of 35 lbs. so far. My only problem is that I MISS my coffee terribly. It's like my long term boyfriend has broken up with me. UGH! Any suggestions?

    Sleeve, Band or Nothing

The choice to alter your anatomy is a big decision. Congrats on your weight loss, so far. That's awesome. I struggled with a lack of support as well. I got all sorts of negative responses... "You're not THAT big!" I come from an obese family, and I was considered smaller. LOL I wasn't happy though. I had sleep apnea and depression. I avoided seeing people because I was embarrassed. I had a VSG and couldn't be more pleased with mmy decision. If you already have comorbidities and have struggled your entire life, WLS might be for you. I did it for me and me only. Best of luck with your decision.
  9. I'm not allowed to exercise until I'm 6 weeks post-op. However, you should walk... A LOT. Walk as much as possible. (Also helps with gas!) My surgeon said walk for a half hour. If you can't, walk for 10 minutes at a time. I am allowed to swim 2 weeks post-op too. Good luck!

    Incisions

I could shower as soon as I went home, and I was able to remove the steri-strips one week post-op. I followed-up with the surgeon the next day, and he said I was healing really well. I'm allowed to swim 2 weeks post-op. Best of luck to you!

Ladies: How much loss 1st week?

I lost 12 lbs. my first week and 23 lbs. pre-op. I'm now 9 days post-op. Congrats. to everyone, but remember: Weight is just a number. I feel so good already!

    extreme hair loss

According to my nutritionist, hair loss could be due to lack of protein in the diet. Since you're so far out, maybe you could reintroduce some protein shakes (if you don't already take them.) Also, like everyone else suggested, I heard Biotin or even prenatal vitamins are great for your hair! Good luck!

    My BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES......

I just had my sleeve done. How long after surgery did you notice your clothing fitting differently? I'm going to be a bridesmaid in Oct. (5 months post-op) and I'm worried about fitting into my dress.

    Smoking

Hi. I don't want to be attacked, but I smoked pre-op and continue to do so post-op. Please no lectures. We all have vices, and I am well aware of the dangers. Although likely no one will agree, I personally think a cigar (once in a blue moon) wouldn't be harmmful. Best of luck to you.

    Before and After Pics

You all look AMAZING! Congrats! I'm on 8 days post-op, so it's very inspiring to see everyone's awesome progress!
  16. Height: 5'4" Highest wt: 228 lbs. Pre-surgery wt: 205 lbs. Surgery date: 5-15-14 (6 days post-op) Hi all! My name is Heather, and I just turned 29 years old. Choosing to have a sleeve gastrectomy was not an easy decision for me. I'm Italian, and in my family, my weight was "just fine." I felt imprisoned by my weight though, and I made this decision for ME. I had a number of comorbities including sleep apnea and depression (which "helped" me to qualify for the surgery.) I just wanted to introduce myself and wish everyone lots of luck throughout their journey!

My weight will not be my prison ANYMORE!

Thank you again everyone for all of the support! Today is post-op day #8, and I had my first follow-up with my surgeon. I lost 12 lbs. (OMG!) and am healing well.

    I got sleeved May 15,2014

I also had the sleeve on May 15th... Post-op day #6! WHOO-HOO! I too am finding it hard to consume 64 oz of liquid and 60-70 grams of protein. I tried "Unjury" chocolate, vanilla, and chicken soup protein shakes. The taste isn't too bad, but I'm just not liking them. Ugh... Any suggestions?
