    Cold colder freezing. .

I am loving my fleece lined leggings for under my pants! I no longer go out without 2 layers of clothes on. I also keep a portable heater in the bathroom and turn it on for 15 minutes before my shower and don't turn it off until after I am dressed again.

    Chewable Calcium Citrate question

I love the Bariatric Advantage calcium chews. They are my little treats through the day. My favorite flavors are lemon and caramel. My surgeon recommends them also .
  3. Do not use any wax based lip treatments like Chapstick or carmex. They create a vicious cycle and make your lips even dryer. Try Vaseline or aquafore. Also the natural lip balms are great like Eos and Burts Bees. My son has horrible chapped lips that crack open and bleed all winter. It is a constant battle to keep them hydrated.

    Discouraged

I am concerned about the fruit and veggie diet you are talking about. Protein is vital for all of us. Our body needs us to maintain an adequate protein intake every day for our health. I highly recommend going back to the basics of your dietary program to see if you can't jump start your body. Being a bariatric patient requires us to follow the bariatric diet. Crash diets and trendy diets have no place in our lives any longer. Our bodies have very specific and unique nutrition needs. Give your body what it needs, not some diet you thought you might try. I am not trying to be harsh, however I am concerned! Please reconsider your choices and give the bariatric diet another chance.

    Discouraged

I feel your frustration! I too have been stuck for weeks and it is mind boggling. I eat on plan, exercise 5-6 days a week , yada yada yada and yet my scale doesn't really move. I have been bouncing between 226 and 229 for over 3 weeks and if am so tired if it. This week I changed my exercise routine and also upped my calories from 900 to 1100 per my nutritionist. I hope that does something before I lose my mind ! Keep working the program and the scale eventually will have to move. Physically there is no way our bodies can keep holding onto this weight and maintain it long term with the low amount of calories we consume daily. Well, at least, that is what I keep telling myself every time the scale still mocks me! Hang in there, you will get through this too. You are not alone and unfortunately this is normal. Keep fallowing the plan and know your bode eventually will have to give up some of the weight. Basic math says it has to start giving up the pounds sometime. Math is always constant so it has to be right!

    Low Vitamin D level

I take prescription vitamin d 50,000iu too and have for a while now. It shouldn't delay anything to do with your surgery. My levels were under 20 also before surgery. It really surprised me when they called to tell me. Now it is just old News and part of my regular medicine routine! Just remember to take it once a week and you will be fine! Hang in there.

    Genepro Users-check this out.

Thanks for sharing this info! I have heard rave reviews on it from the boards, but have been very skeptical. I am really glad I didn't try it and didn't waste my money. The idea of what they claim is awesome and somebody really needs to come up with this type of product with scientific evidence supporting the claim.
  8. So the hubby and I went to the gym this morning as usual. I went shopping yesterday for some new work out clothes because I was tired of trying to keep my workout pants from falling down. So as I strip off all of my outer layers and get my ear buds in , my husband pulls me aside. He asks me why I am wearing my spanx to the gym and if I wanted to go take them off? I giggled and said I don't have spanx on. He looks at me and said great job! Lol, it made me chuckle and I felt great after he said it. This man sees me every day and he was impressed with how much weight I have lost!

Sedentary : Can I lose weight?

I too have mobility issues related to some problems in my lower spine . I have difficulty walking most of the time because I have lost a lot of sensation and control of the left leg. You can find other ways to get physically active without causing further injury. Water aerobics and swimming are 2 of the best exercises for people with joint or mobility issues. I highly, highly suggest asking your doctor for a physical therapy referral. The physical therapists are a tremendous asset and wealth of knowledge for people with joint issues. The physical therapist helped me find and modify exercises to meet my needs. She also taught me how to advance my physical activity also. It is worth checking into! Good luck on your wl journey !

    Body Shapers ( Spanx)

Spanx brand has been my favorite for a few years. The assets brand by Spanx have not been as durable and feel like they are made with cheaper materials. The assets brand ones I have had broke down way before my Spanx brand. I also love the ones that look like underwear with the high waist. I put the underwear spanx on and then put my bra on. My bra helps to keep the top of the waist band in place I would like to find some compression wear for when I go to the gym. As I am getting more active, I hate how much my whole body jiggles. It doesn't feel great and I can only imagine what it looks like .

    Work Out

I did walking at home until week 3 per my surgeons instructions. At week 3 I started using the treadmill and elliptical at the gym and steadily increased my time and exertion. I was cleared to start strength training at 6 weeks post op. Keep moving, but do not push further than your body can safely do.
  12. Luvin_Life125

Yeah, 100 pounds down but 100 to go.

Congratulations on all you have accomplished!! Please be proud of how far you have come and all of the hard work you put in to get there. Keep up what you are doing and the finish line will be here before you know it!

    Probiotics?

I have been taking probiotics since day 1 post op per my surgeons recommendation. It does help with the constipation issue. My surgeon also gave me a few medical articles that support the use of probiotics in obese patients to help support weight loss and help nutrient absorption. I take the Philips Colon Health probiotics. I would love to know about insoluble fiber too!

    Creeps at the gym

Lol, some men should just put blinders on in the gym! I have a hilarious story from a creepy man at the gym. I was doing some strength training exercise and wearing a pair of capris and a v-neck t-shirt. I am VERY busty and always have been. I am also usually pretty oblivious and naive. So I was finishing up on the weight machine when this older man (mid 60's) is on the recumbent bike in the row behind me, almost kitty corner from me. Per normal gym rules, you have to spray down and then wipe down equipment when you are done using it. So I am wiping down the seat and handles next to the seat and am bent over at the waist facing the back of the gym. Out of the corner of my eye, I see this man fall off the recumbent bike and gets his foot caught on the pedal as he falls. I immediately rush over and ask if he is ok and he is beet red. He tells me no, he is ok. I look up and see this teenage guy in the back corner laughing so hard, he is crying. I give the young guy a dirty look and can't believe he is laughing at this poor old man who fell. The older guy tells me he is fine, just embarrassed. I go on and continue my workout and notice the old guy left. As I am doing my cool down on the treadmill, the young guy jumps on the treadmill next to me. He asks me if I know how the older man fell and I said he just fell. He starts chuckling and said no, it wasn't that simple. So he tells me the old guy was trying to stand on the pedals of the recumbent bike while continuing to pedal so he could look down my shirt. I am flabbergasted because I totally did not see that coming. I guess that explains why he was so embarrased when I asked if he was ok. LOL, karma really pays some of those guys back who take creepy to a level it shouldn't be at in the gym!

    No more Chat Rooms ?

I didn't know chat rooms were available for BP members. I access the site from my mobile device 99% of the time. I am always surprised when I do access from my computer, how much more information is available. Can the mobile site be expanded to match what I have access to on my mobile device? I think more and more people are accessing BP through mobile devices and we don't always know other services are available.

    where did you sleep?

I lived in my recliner the first week after surgery. Surgery was a great motivation to finally replace my old and worn out recliner. It was still difficult to sleep in bed after the 1st week and I would still get up about half way through the night and move to the recliner. Sleep wherever and however you are comfortable. We all have to do what is best for us!
  17. Ok everyone, please share your favorite things you have found for fitness. Your favorite headbands, ear buds, sports bras, clothing, armbands, compression garments, etc. and why this item is your favorite and what sets it above the rest. Many people are either starting a fitness routine for the first time ever or are returning to fitness after a long break. Things change quickly in the retail setting and it can be hard, not to mention expensive, to try many things only to find out they aren't worth it or don't last. I will start off with my favorite thing so far. Enell brand sports bras are the BEST EVER sports bra for busty girls. I wear a 40GG and the Enell sports bra makes sure my boobs do not move at all! They are not pretty sports bras and they absolutely give you a uniboob, but I have never found another sports bra that gives this much support. Enell is a bit pricey at around $60, but they last forever too. I have been at least a DD cup since I was 14 and played sports through high school. The closest I ever got to good support and minimal movement was wearing one sports bra with a second sports bra over the top of it. Then wrapped an ace bandage around my chest and back tightly and then used a compression tank over that. So that is my favorite thing recommendation. Please chime in and share yours! I need your ideas. Also, if you have tried something and found it sorely lacking, share that too. Knowledge is power.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Hubby and I went out last night and I am still wearing the same jeans from preop. These jeans were extremely tight before surgery, but I still wore them. Well, when I went to the bathroom at the bar, I was able to pull my jeans down without unbuttoning them! I know they were getting pretty baggy, but I didn't think they were that bad. I guess it's time to get the smaller pants out of storage!

    Protein Bar's and powder

The Quest protein bars in Chocolate chip cookie dough are my absolute FAVORITE flavor! I have tried 9 or 10 different flavors of their bars and I find most of them dry and grainy. The chocolate chip cookie dough isn't and really reminds me of the real thing. It still tastes like a protein bar, but by far the best protein bar I have tried yet.
  20. I only really love the chocolate chip cookie dough flavor. To me many of the other flavors do taste like cardboard. I choked each of them down though because I needed the protein and fiber. Also, I am cheap and wasn't throwing something away that I paid that much money for

    Sick congested what to do?

I just got over a bad cold with head congestion. My surgeon ok'd real Sudafed ( the kind you have to ask the pharmacist for), mucinex, and Delsym. The combo worked well and seemed to keep the symptoms minimal. Try giving your surgeon's office a call today and hopefully you can catch someone to ask. I hope you feel better soon!

What holiday favorites worked for you this season?

A few of our family traditions really helped me this year. The first is sliced deli ham with cream cheese and wrapped around a pickle spear and cut into bite size pieces. These were a great new taste for my sleeve and protein based. The second thing was homemade meatballs. The meatballs usually sit in a crock pot with a sauce that isn't sleeve friendly. Fortunately, I was able to catch some before they went into the sauce and kept them hidden in the fridge for me to eat later.
  25. Burned over 1000 calories today at the gym!!

Keep it up! Are you training for anything specific or just rocking your workouts? What kinds of things are you doing?

    2. Luvin_Life125

      Luvin_Life125

LOL, not training for anything specific. I am just trying to get healthy! I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.0 mph and a 10 incline and another 30 min on the elliptical at a high resistance. Followed by almost an hour of weight lifting. I definitely was sweating and felt pretty beat up after the fact too. It also felt great too.
