    What Calcium Do You Take?

I take the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chewy bites. I take 2 chews 3 times a day. I love the caramel ones. The taste is right on and it feels like I am having candy. I have tried the caramel, chocolate, raspberry, and lemon flavors. The fruit flavors remind me of starburst candy. The chocolate flavor is ok, but just a weird kind of flavor. I keep the caramel ones on my nightstand and the lemon & raspberry are in my candy dish in the kitchen so I can grab them when I see them. I hope you find something that works for you.

    Anyone else having weird cravings?

I have actually made those pinwheels for lunch regularly lately. My NUT is ok with all of the ingredients so why not enjoy it. I did have to make the pickles much smaller though just to make them easier on my sleeve.

    Primary Doctor not complying

If your PCP can't get the letter correct, would they accept an "example" letter from you to base theirs off of? Or maybe provide them a typed out list of what must be in their letter ? I have worked most of my career in the medical field and have spent some considerable time working in the Drs offices. Letters of medical necessity are often written by various staff members and not the physician. Unfortunately, not all of the staff members are bright nor have the ability to comprehend what you need. Sometimes you have to spell it all put depending on who is responsible for writing the needed letter.

    10 weeks out diet?

I am 12 weeks out and have been cleared for a general diet since 7 weeks post op. The only restrictions are fibrous vegetables must be cooked and refined carbs are a no no. They recommend 1 cup of food total per meal 3 times a day and 3 snacks a day. I can not even come close to eating a whole cup of food in one sitting. 1/4 to 1/2 cup max per sitting is about it depending on what I am eating. I still can't eat 1 whole egg at a sitting no matter how hard I try. It is a challenge every day to meet my protein goals because of my limited capacity. I am interested in seeing what others are eating and quantities!

How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh naked before every shower and record it in MFP. It keeps me honest and makes the stalls seem like they last FOREVER!
  8. I suggest calling your surgeon's office and having the doctor on call paged. You are so early in the recovery period and need to keep from becoming dehydrated. Ask the doc on call to call in a prescription for something to help with the nausea and/or vomiting. Also, find out at what point of not keeping any fluids down should you return to the hospital for IV fluids. Dehydration comes quickly in the early post op recovery and you can deteriorate very fast. It is best to catch it early and get some fluids through the iv. Please keep us posted and I hope you feel better soon!

    Dry skin

Coconut oil! I keep a jar in the bathroom and put it on while your skin is still damp from the shower. It is an amazing moisturizer and doesn't have all of the chemicals.

    surgeon

That is tough. I started with my insurance plan and found which surgeons and hospitals are in network. That first step narrowed down my choices drastically. Then I googled each of the surgeon's names to see what came up. The next step was to schedule an appointment with the office closest to me ( 3 hours away). Fortunately, I was comfortable with the practice, the staff, and their process. Choosing a surgeon is daunting because so much rests on the decision. My biggest concern was the doctor's post op follow up plan for patients. I wanted a practice who took the post operative process seriously and took responsibility for guiding their patients. I wish you luck to find someone who works for you and your needs.
  15. The gastritis and esophagitis found during your EGD shouldn't impact your surgical course much. Most likely you will be put on medication to help clear it up. I had no symptoms prior to my EGD either. Turns out I had gastritis and an ulcer. I had to start medication to help heal my stomach, but it didn't impact my surgical preparations. I suggest calling the surgeons office and talking with their nurse. You should be able to get information about the impact the EGD results will have.

    Sports Bras? Suggestions..........

Enell brand is by far the best sports bra I have ever owned. They are ugly as sin, but worth every penny! I order them online. I wear a 40f and my boobs do not move in that bra no matter what. I can run, jump, or anything else and no movement. I have my first Enell sports bra from 6 years ago and it still works just as great as my new ones. Definitely worth taking a look at.

    2.5 Months Out & FAIL

You still have a life to live even after surgery. Finding a balance that works for you long term is essential. I just got home yesterday from a 9day Disney World trip on the dining plan. I followed my general guidelines and ate protein first, then veggies, but I also allowed myself a small bite of dessert every night. You have to figure out how your new eating habits for into your life for everything that comes up. Find where you are comfortable and still in control and enjoy life a bit. None of us get out of it alive, so enjoy life while you can.

Anyone take methadone for chronic pain

Hi there. I have disabling chronic low back pain with pain radiating into both legs. I have been prescribed many narcotics and different combinations of the meds trying to find a medication plan that works for the pain while minimizing side effects. I was prescribed methadone 5mg twice a day in addition to my other pain medicines. Since starting the methadone I can barely keep my eyes open. When I am awake I doze off constantly no matter what I am doing. I have dozed off during lunch, in the middle of a conversation, taking a shower, etc. Has anyone else used methadone and have you had this kind of fatigue? Did
  20. I leave for Disney World on Friday!! I am beyond excited but looking for any last minute tips. Best protein meals, what not to forget, etc ?
  21. I use the coconut oil to moisturize my whole body too! We keep a large jar in the bathroom. It works great and doesn't irritate or burn chapped skin. It doesn't take much either compared to some of the lotions I have used in the past. I recommend coconut oil to anyone who ever asks about dry skin or eczema. My youngest child has eczema and a lot of allergies . I haven't found a commercial lotion he can use without being covered in hives. Once he started using coconut oil, no more dry skin and eczema flares are very rare.
  22. I am having a difficult time adjusting to cooking for the family since surgery. Nothing sounds good to me and it makes meal planning a dreaded chore. I am trying to get better, but it is taking a long time.

    What's your sweet treat?

I keep a bag of mini York peppermint patties in the freezer for when I can't get that chocolate craving satisfied. They sooth the beast when I need it.

    need advice

No regrets at all! The first week post op was difficult and tough to get through. Even with that 1st week I would never change it!
