Looking for July Sleevers!
GottaDoSomethin' replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feeling like I turned a corner today. I was sleeved on the 14th and I finally felt like putting on makeup and walking around the dollar store today. Hoping to go to work on Monday. -
postop 5 days pain on right side
GottaDoSomethin' replied to blondebomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same pain. I thought it was from the main incision but it's really between two incision. It's the only part that still hurts at 5 days post op. Looking for it to go away soon -
Experiences with Phentermine?
GottaDoSomethin' replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I could easily lose weight on phentrimine but I did or like the way the pill made me feel. I could never take it long. And as soon as I was off the pill the weight came back immediately. -
Just got home and need advice on how to

Not sure about Omprezole but I took Zyrtec with no problems. Just didn't try it on a full stomach or with a big gulp. -
Swollen arm from iv?
GottaDoSomethin' replied to GottaDoSomethin''s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put a call into my dr but still haven't heard back. I don't think I have fever but not sure how to treat it in the meantime. Trying an ice pack now -
My iv was removed Wednesday and I have a swollen, red patch in my upper arm. Did anyone else have this? It's quite painful to the touch.
-
I have a swollen red spot in my upper arm. I'm thinking maybe a pooling of iv fluids or a pinched nerve from the blood pressure cuff. It hurts as bad as my main incision. Anyone else have this?

Swollen arm from iv?
GottaDoSomethin' replied to GottaDoSomethin''s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My iv was in my forearm and the red patch is just above the elbow, where fluid would pool if my arm stayed crooked and my hand stayed a little elevated. Been using a hot pad as I slept hut it has not helped. -
I drink 3 8oz bottles of water, 3 Popsicles, and about a half cup of chicken broth a day. I know that's not enough but I just keep trying to drink a little more each day. I do get stomach spasms when a drinking so I'm trying to be kind to my baby sleeve. I haven't had to touch the nausea meds yet, but feeling very sore at the main incision site.

26 hours out and things no one told me
GottaDoSomethin' posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery yesterday around two and here are some things I discovered that I hadn't heard on this forum yet: 1. They pump you so full of fluids constantly that even if you don't feel like waking you are up to pee every hour so you might as well. 2. Peeing takes forever. With all the anesthesia and pain meds it's like trickle, trickle, trickle. 3. Hiccups are the worse form of pain. Waking keeps the gas at bay, but hiccups come before the belching and it will cause you to miss a step to say the least. Hope this helps any unsleeved lurking around here like I was for months trying to figure this process out! -
26 hours out and things no one told me
GottaDoSomethin' replied to GottaDoSomethin''s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, everyone is different. And thanks to this forum I was prepared for so many experiences except the ones I described. Just trying to contribute my experiences as well -
I was July 14th too. I thought I would be doing a little better but I'm really sore. I'm just sipping and trying to walk. Soooo sleepy

Freshly Sleeved!
GottaDoSomethin' replied to Rarmenta84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine done on Monday as well. I did pretty well in the hospital but now that I'm home I am much more sore. Perhaps I'm not walking as much without the long hallways and more comfortable seating or maybe the pain Meds at home aren't as good. How are you doing on liquids. I'm struggling quite a bit. Lots of spasms but I just keep sipping. I'm not hungry at all but I haven't felt full necessarily either. Do you? -
JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
GottaDoSomethin' replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 14th too and my tummy is really swollen. I'm wearing a restriction belt and that seems to help. Don't even worry about the scale until two weeks out. They pumped us so full of fluids plus the swelling; there's no reason to worry about weight now. On the upside, I'm not hungry at all! Struggling to get my water in. Only 24 ounces today -
JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
GottaDoSomethin' replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 14th and my dr doesn't even want me trying protein for a week so don't feel bad about not getting all yours in. I'm not in pain as long as I have pain meds, but when they wear off I can sure feel sore. The pain is keeping me from feeling too hungry. I think the gurgling in my stomach is still gas moving around rather than hunger pangs. -
JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
GottaDoSomethin' replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery July 14. Hoping to get out of hospital today. On clear liquids only for a week, no protein shakes. I always thought people struggled getting their liquids and protein in initially because we fill up so quickly, but mine is more of the ache that happens as the water hits my stomach. Does that happen to anyone? When does it stop? -
Looking for July Sleevers!
GottaDoSomethin' replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery 12 hours ago. Pain is much worse than I prepared for but I know it's temporary. The gas coming out feels more like a hard hiccup than a belch and boy do I feel it. -
M having surgery tomorrow and trying to figure out how I will ever get protein shakes in. If our stomachs hold 4oz and shakes are 11oz, how long does eat take to drink a whole shake (not just talking right after surgery when it's a struggle anyway)?

4 month Sleeve Anniversary: 82 down, 77 to go.
GottaDoSomethin' replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My surgery is tomorrow and this is exactly what I needed to hear! As I ate my boiled egg, my last whole food for a while, and my husband who has never had weight problems ate sausage, eggs, and pancakes, I wondered if life will always be this unfair when it comes to weight. Hoping my new tool will help! -
Looking for July Sleevers!
GottaDoSomethin' replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Preparing for my surgery on Monday and I am feeling increasingly anxious. It's finally setting in that I am about to change the rest of my life. This is not a diet like the liquid diet I'm on now. There will no longer be an option to eat multiple helpings or giant desserts.... Crazy to think how never having that again will make me feel. -

GottaDoSomethin' replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my final pre op appointment tomorrow. Today I had to resist breakfast tacos, handfuls of candy on my desk, subway, cookies and homemade ice cream and a burger a wine... ALL at work!!!! Home isn't as bad but it is sure difficult to stay on the preop diet. I'm not hungry but those treats look so good! I wish I could just fast forward six months when I've conquered these demons! -

GottaDoSomethin' replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel that, too! If I can't get in the mindset of eating well now, what's going to click after surgery? I'm also afraid I won't take advantage of those first six month when people lose so much weight and I will regret it later on. This blog helps to keep me on track and I'm looking forward to support groups. I'm on day 2 of preop and the scale has already moved down a few pounds. That's where we can draw our motivation! -

I'll be your buddy! I'm on the 14th, too. I am 30 and one day down on the pre op diet. -

Same here! Best I've sampled so far,; of course other shakes have more protein and might keep us fuller longer. -
