Just curious, what kind of pain were you in. I had a fill 10 days ago and I am getting pain in between my shoulder blades. I finally called the doctor, and they said it was trapped air and that it should be subsiding soon. I can tell you though, it is indeed pain and I don't like it. So, I guess I'm kind of where you are. I'm thinking about getting a slight unfill and just having to use a little more willpower. I am going to wait until at least Wed 1/23/08 because that will be two weeks since the fill. I hope you hang in there and we'll both have to be asking ourselves which of the two circumstances we are willing to live with.

Just as I had guessed, I finally called the doctor's office yesterday, the pain I experience in between my shoulder blades when I eat is trapped air. What a releief to know. They said this should be subsiding in a few more days. The fill was 9 days ago now. The really great news is I got on the scale this morning, I have lost a total of 30 lbs!!!!!!!!! I DO NOT believe I could have done this without the band.

2nd fill, not sure if the bands works for me ?
cj033185 replied to pjrugby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just had my second fill (1 week ago) and I am totally experiencing restriction. So much so that air is getting caught in the pouch and I am experiencing pain in my back between my shoulder blades. Called the doctor yesterday and they confirmed this info to be correct. The pain is getting less with each day and the GREAT news is I got on the scale today, and I have lost a total of 30 lbs!!!!!!!! I DO NOT believe I could have done this without the band. -
I've recently had a fill, (5 days ago) and I'm noticing pretty bad pain in my back between my shoulder blades. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if you know what it is. It almost feels like trapped air. Hmmm. Anyway, this makes my fill now at 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. Hope everyone is doing great!!! BTW it is occurring no matter what I eat

Just wondering if someone would reply to this thread. I really want to know if anyone has experienced this pain. I'm eating very little when this pain starts. I'm hoping that the situation will resolve soon. Thanks

Just wondering, does soup without noddles, rice, veggies, or anything solid constitute as being ok immediately following a fill or does it have to be clear liquids? Had my second fill this afternoon and really do not care for clear liquids. Maybe tomato soup would be fine?

Hi Fanny, I fell your worries. I would address any medical concerns (bruising and swelling at your port site) with your doctor. If it were me, I would keep my appointment with the doctor for the fill and be honest with him (or her). Doctors can only truly help us if we give them all of the information. I know for me personally, I have not been 100% compliant, and everyhting is fine. Not that I would recommend that to anyone. Please find the strength and tell them the whole truth so your fears can be eased, the doctor is not going to spank you!! LOL

Thanks to all of you who replyed. I had some tamto soup and cream of mushroom soup. It really didn't cause any discomfort and all is well. I am making some homemade chicken soup today and I will blend everything in the food processor. Hope all is well with you. I love this website, with all of this experience and support. I mean, where would I be without YOU??? Have a great day :clap2:

I don't even feel like I have a band!!!!
cj033185 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm getting very discouraged. I swear I do not even feel like I have a band, now granted, have not had a fill yet. I'm just getting scared, because I feel the impending doom of am I going to be the one that this doesn't work for? I'm probably, just freaking out since I can eat anything in the amount I want. And let's face it, if I could control the amount that I eat I would not have tried this solution, EVER. I really feel like crying right now. I feel like such a failure and a loser. I know that I am not, but I am really down right now. I'm going to try to stay focused on the fact that the real help has not arrived yet, so thanks for listening. Please let me know if anyone has ever felt these feelings of this not working for you, and then it actually working for you. Cindy -
I don't even feel like I have a band!!!!

hi everybody, It's me, the who swore she didn't even have a band. Now I said that granted I hadn't had a fill yet, I had no idea how naieve those words were back then. Since then I have had one fill and what a difference this has made. I am extremley aware that I have a band. Things are much better (2 months later) I go to the doc next week for hopefully another fill. The best news is that I have lost 28lbs so far in this journey. Even though in my opinion this is slower than some people, I am very happy with this progress. My BF has recently turned the garage into a workout room so I looking forward to getting my butt in gear. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me when I was feeling soooo low. God Bless all of you. -
Poll: Do you miss diet soda?
cj033185 replied to Anyalee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really miss coke zero. I do have the very occasional soda, because I really enjoy it. I'm just afraid to drink it every day. I do not want to mess things up. Also, if I really feel like having a soda, I will choose diet lemonade or diet tea. That seems to fulfill the craving most of the time. -
Dear LinzerPA, I have certanily experienced what you are referring to on two occassions. Unfortunately they were both related to overeating and eating to quickly, resulting in vomiting. Did your spasms happen to start after vomiting? I know the pain was very terrible and kept me from sleeping those nights, but it has taught me a very valuable lesson. I'm really consciuos (sp) of what I am putting in my mouth. I do NOT want to ever feel those pains again, EVER!!!! I'm glad you are over the hump now. Here's to be pain free

How many CC's in your Inamed 10cc band?
cj033185 replied to shortgal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone, I have 4 cc's so far in my 10cc band. I have pretty good restriction so far with that amount, although I still feel like I can eat more than what I would like to be able to eat. I have lost almost 28lbs so far. My surgery was 9/25/07. I know that I can defintely not eat as much as before and that is a great feeling. This is also a lifestyle change as well as a weightloss plan for living. Any progress is a change in the right direction, and believe me I have to remind myself of that fact quite alot. My second appointment did not result in a fill and my next appt is 1/02/08 so we'll see what happens. Keep up the good work everybody. -
Slimfast type "diet" to go along with LapBand??
cj033185 replied to LongingToBThin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
mbanja, You sound like you are over filled, or maybe recently had a fill and still experiencing swelling? I really have to force myself to eat in the morning, but like I mentioned, I'm trying to stop coming up with my own solutions. Have you talked to your Doc about not being able to eat solids in the morning? Mine tells me the band is designed for us to eat solids. We are so worth this band working for us. That's the whole goal, but we have to do, what we have to do in order to keep our sanity. What are your weightloss numbers, everything's going great I hope. What did you start at? I hope to hear back from you. Oh, wish me luck, i'm going out to dinner for Xmas with some friends tonight. I'll let you know how I did!!!! -
Slimfast type "diet" to go along with LapBand??
cj033185 replied to LongingToBThin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Longing, My doctor said no to shakes too. He said to have scrambles eggs instead for breakfast. I actually feel the same way that you do regarding not wanting to eat in the am and afternoon. But my best thinking got me fat, so I decided to listen to the professional and now it's actually starting to become my routine, even though most days I have to force myself to eat during these times. I'm really trying to make this tool work for me, not just because it's costing me $15,ooo, but the weight has cost me so much more. It has robbed me of living life to the fullest. I'm trying to do something different for myself, and listen to someone else instead of coming up with my own solutions. Please do whatever you feel is best for you, but the doctor's tell us specific advise for OUR own good, and by golly you know what?, for once I believe I'm worth it.!!!! Btw, I've lost 28lbs now:) -
I am eating during 2nd dinner service...I am screwing up this BAND thing?
cj033185 replied to cookielover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dear cookielover, I am the exact way. I couldn't care less if I eat during the morning or afternoon. And whammo, at night I could eat anything. What I'm trying to do is force myself to eat during these times so I won't be so hungry at night. It is honestly working a little bit. Now, for the middle of the night eating, that's another story. I can't seem to stop getting up in the middle of the night to eat (cookies) I swear I say I am not going to do every night before I go to bed, but low and behold there I am at 300 am eating cookies and drinking milk. I'm so disgusted because I feel like I'm making progress in all the other areas where eating is concerned. I would just be mortified if my BF woke up and saw what I was doing, it's almost like an addict going to get drugs. Anyway, I saw an episode of You are what you eat today, and the Dr. on there said if you must eat something sweet in the middle of the night, make it a sweet potato. I'm going to try it and see what happens. She (Dr.) said it calms your craving for something sweet without doing so much harm to your weightloss efforts. I think it's cool that I saw that episode because it felt like it was just for me. Anyway I hope you can find something in my struggles that you could apply to your struggles. -
Hi, i'm trying to see if I did the ticker right
-
Hi everyone, well I went to the doctor's yesterday and it's official. I lost 13 lbs in the last month. WOW is all I can say. I'm very happy about that. He actually said it was more than he wanted me to lose in a month. WHAT??? Anyway, I'm going to listen to him because he's the doctor. I'll try to slow it down a bit. Although you cannot wipe the smile off of my face today. Real hope is on the horizon of weight loss. FINALLY!!!!:clap2:

Can anyone please tell me why we have to do liquids after a fill? I should have just asked my Doctor yesterday but I guess I didn't think of it. Also how long did you doc say to consume liquids? :help:

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone with the band follows WW and is having success with the program and the band together. I've only had one fill so far so I don't know if I'll actually be able to follow the program with more fills (lots of food). If you follow ww with the band, which one do you follow (flex or core)?
-
Just wondering if anyone with the band follows WW points and is having success.
-
Hi all, well I got on the scale this morning and it read 211.6!!! What a great feeling. I do not attend the WW meetings, although I have all the literature and appropiate tools to follow the program from home. I 'm feeling the way that FarmerE talked about not mentioning the band because they might not think too highly about it. Anyway, this is OUR jouney and I feel like however we get to success in a healthy way, so be it. So, for now I'm following the points system from home, and besides do you know how much money I have given all of these weightloss groups?? Probably close to what I paid for this surgery LOL Have a great day everybody!!!!!!

I got on the scale this morning and it read 211.6 !!! I haven't seen that number in a very long time. I'm afraid that it will not read that number tommorrow. I have such issues with that little piece of metal LOL. Anyway I go to the doctor's on Wed. so his scale I can believe. I feel like I'm doing really well though. I'm following WW points and making very healthy food choices. I hope everyone is doing great. I'll let all of you know what happens on Wed.

Thanks to all who posted re following weight watchers along with having the lap band. I seem to really like the structure of WW including making sure I'm getting the approiate amount of fruit, veggies, milk, Water, and healthy oils. I think I'm going to keep this up ( basically it's been three days). I've belonged to WW at least 5-6 different times. This time though, it's seems almost effortless. The band seems to be allowing me to actaullly do the program the way it is designed and best of all, without cheating. I feel like I have real hope on the horizon this time. What a GREAT feeling!!!!!!!
