I was just filled yesterday and could NOT get liquids down after I got home. I couldn't even keep my saliva in, I kept sliming and throwing up. The band was obviously too tight. My doctor met me at midnight at the office to unfill me. I felt MUCH better. However today I still feel kinda nauseated, is this normal after a fill? I've been able to sip one slim fast and a few ounces of Water which has taken me all day. I also got down 1/2 of a pudding. No problem with my saliva today. I've just been feeling kinda yucky all day, maybe from the stress on my esaphagus from throwing up so much yesterday?? I've never been good about just liquids then mushies for a few days after a fill. I couldn't "cheat" right now if I wanted to. Is this how I should feel for a few days? Can you PLEASE tell me what you go through, what you are able to eat and amounts for the first 2-4 days after a fill???? If this is normal, I don't want to go get unfilled for nothing. I am determined to help the band work so it can help make me thin... Help please!!!:confused2: Thank you, Kellie from sunny AZ

I've been reading a lot of posts about how vomiting is very bad for the band and that the band can "slip"...my doctor never said one thing about this and there was nothing on that in my literature. Can someone PLEASE give me information on this? What does it mean to have your band slip? What actually happens? I'm worried now becuase I just had a fill on tues. and haven't been able to get much down until tonight (i had a very small piece of meatloaf and a spoonful of mashed potatos). Up until tonight I've been throwing up after I eat something. However I have to make myself throw up because the food feels stuck in my chest. Not to be gross but everything comes back up quite easily without really any stomache spasms... Insight anyone?

My doctor says his rule of thumb is if you do not loose 8-10 pounds a month he gives you a fill. I have had to have a fill or 2 inbetween appts. because I had NO restriction...Had my fourth fill on Tues. and it is FINALLY working. The scale is really moving down and I couldn't be more thrilled. This surgery cost a lot financially and mentally. Keep calling your doc until you are satisfied with your results. That is why he/she gets paid the big bucks....

Hello! I had a fill on Wed., my 4th one. I have had little to no restriction since banded 3 months ago. My doctor explained that this could be in part becuase I'm not "that big" in his words... (whatever:cry). However, I am now experiencing new territory. I can't really eat more then a a few bites, if that, without it feeling stuck in my chest. I have to make myself vomit (which isn't hard) to feel relief. Not to be gross but the stuff that comes out seems to not have gone very far down my esophegus. I have not been good about having only liquids. I have eaten solids since the fill. Is this how restriction feels? I'm afraid to have any taken out because I don't want to feel lack of restriction. Any suggestions?? -
I was just going to post the same chicken question...I don't know why but I can't really eat any poultry. I just ate two bites and got REALLY ill, it all came back up, YUCK! Poultry is a good low fat/cat- high Protein food so it stinks I can't eat it... Good luck to everyone during the holidays.

I was banded on Sept. 17, 2007 and just can't seem to loose any weight. I have lost a total of 12 lbs. and the scale is NOT budging.:cry I have been filled 3 times and still don't feel much restriction. I can't seem to get on the plan or with the program. I am having such a hard time mentally. I know this is not reality but I keep expecting to wake up and all the weight just being gone. I am having a hard time "dieting"...I guess I figured I couldn't diet on my own so that is why I had the surgery but here I am having to "diet" in order to loose weight. SO frustrating!! I don't know where to begin. I find myself just eating whatever and not sticking to any type of plan. I need help here...I am lost and getting really depressed.... Any suggestions??:help: Thanks for the support.

I am having a VERY hard time eating "properly". I just can't seem to get with the program.:help: Could everyone post what you eat for 1 day so I can have some menus to follow. The amounts of each item would also be helpful...thanks so much! :hungry: Any suggestions on how to get motivated and get on track would be much appreciated... Thank you!

Thank you all SO much for the ideas and great menus...

:clap2:Thank you all so much for the words of encouragement....I was never given a "plan" to follow after being banded. I was only told to make "healthy" choices and to not "drink" my calories. I think that is part of my problem. Having a guideline listing foods and amounts for each meal/snack would be so helpful. Would anyone be willing to share what 1 day of food looks like in your world...the serving size/amounts would be fabulous. Congrats to all you loosers.

Hello everyone! I had my third fill yesterday. I have been SO discouraged as I too could eat the same amount of food as I did befor the surgery. I asked my husband why we paid almost $17,000 for there to be no change or difference. I was thinking that maybe the band had slipped and that it wasn't going to work for me. Well let me tell you, it WORKS!! My doctor explained that each person will feel that restriction needed to loose weight at differnt stages of the journey. He said that typically, someone who is very large will have more fat around their stomach which will tighten the band allowing for less fills. He said it is a balancing act and that he has to find that "special" spot for each individual. He over filled me and he had to take out some saline before I left the office yesterday. But it is FINALLY working. I can only eat very small amounts and lost 2 lbs from yesterday. I was relieved to know that the surgery will work but it might take a little time. If after a few fills you are not feeling restriction, you may want to have your doctor check to see if you have a leak. My doctor said that occasionally the tube can be puctured with the needle used for fills which causes all the saline to leak and your band to not tighten. This can be checked by saline being removed from your port. If it comes out then you do not have a leak and new saline can be reinserted. All I can say is, be patient. Work with your doctor and let your doctor know your feelings. Stay strong and remember this is not a magic pill. You still have to exercise and eat sensibly. Hope this helps! ~Kellie from AZ:)
