86% will regain the weight they lost after WLS
Dreamin Again replied to Dreamin Again's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, she did say 86.something% regain their weight. I checked with my husband who was there with me. I realized you would probably gain a few pounds back when everything was said and done and that is why most people seem to want to lose 10-20 lbs more than their final goal weight - just to have some wiggle room. Thanks to all of you for your helpful replies. I am just determined to make this work for me. I WILL NOT be one of the ones that gain all my weight back. I am ready to be healthier and lose this weight permanently. I hope everyone has a great weekend. -
That's great and good luck to you! I don't meet with the surgeon until mid September but I have met with the rest of the team already and I can't wait to go forward with this process.

Should I try Protein Shakes Now or Just Wait?
Dreamin Again replied to Myonlybattle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't got to that point yet but I always thought I would try them ahead of time just to make sure they weren't going to make me ill so I would have time to run out and buy something different in case they taste yucky lol -

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Dreamin Again replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think for me it was my cousin, who is 4 years older than myself, who is overweight and has had Type 2 Diabetes for years and earlier this year had to have her foot amputated due to uncontrolled diabetes and weight issues. That's so scary! I don't want to be like that and I am tired of being self conscious and not wanting to leave the house. I also want to start being in pictures with my husband and children before they all move out and start families of their own. (Well...the husband won't be moving out lol) It is risky and scary but it will be so worth it and I am looking forward to changing my life. Good luck to you all! -
SSM Exclusive Choice anyone?
Dreamin Again replied to Dreamin Again's topic in Insurance & Financing
Yes, you would think that would be an easy thing to do wouldn't you? The people at the ins co don't seem to know anything about it. Even my husband's HR dept can't help us find the info. They say they will try to get the information and get back to us. I have contacted the surgeon's office and am waiting to hear back from them. -
SSM Exclusive Choice anyone?
Dreamin Again replied to Dreamin Again's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thanks Jersrose for your response. It just states that Bariatric surgery is covered "when the patient meets specific conditions". I would like to know what the "conditions" are. Still waiting to hear back from the ins. co. Thanks again and have a good weekend. -
Congratulations to both of you! Hope all is going well and that you are feeling better by the day.

Thank you Odesa! I am so excited to get started. I think I am driving my husband a little crazy lol. You are doing awesome on your journey I see, congratulations and continued health. I will be so much saner when I actually know more of what my insurance company requires and get to meet the surgeon -
Just want to say hi to everyone.
Dreamin Again posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been reading everything I can on here for the last several weeks so I thought I would pop in and say hi. I am a 51-year-old woman, married for almost 22 years with 3 children (20, 18, and 17). My heaviest weight was 267 lbs (about 252 right now) am 5' 9.5". Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes almost 1 year ago. Have considered surgery in the past but my BMI was not high enough and I did not have any comorbidities until last year. I joined WW (again) and tried to lose weight on my own. I have no trouble losing 20-25 pounds on a diet but then I "find" them again. I have tried so many different weight loss and exercise plans and eventually failed to keep any weight off. A friend of mine went through gastric banding, which she had a lot of complications with, and then had the sleeve done. She looks awesome. It has been about 5 years and she has kept the weight off. I think I am going to go for the sleeve procedure also. I have Exclusive Choice (SSM) and they will cover the surgery and I have just started the 5-month medically supervised diet with my PCP. I joined WW online and go to see the doc once a month. That should be completed by the end of October. I have not been to the seminar yet as they cancelled the first one I was scheduled for so I will go next week. I have gone through my three hour appointment and met with the nurse, nutritionist, and counselor with the Weight Loss Institute. I am scheduled to meet the surgeon late August. All of you are a source of inspiration for me and hope that I can turn things around and get my life back. Thank you! and I wish you all continued success and good health : )
