How fast do you drink your liquids?

I can drink a gulp. More than sipping.
  2. I drank at least that many, maybe even double that, before my surgery. Didn't do a very good job of quitting prior. Haven't had one...not a drop...since my surgery on October 8. Don't really crave it. No real withdrawals that I can recall. I think if you take the surgery, and your lifestyle after, seriously, things like this (quitting pop) aren't too bad. Pop, fried foods, sugar, etc. are NOT options in my mind. So, I think that's helped me adjust and not crave them like I thought I might. Good luck to you.
  3. I agree, Rocky. I kinda just bought the first ones I saw. My surgeons office gave us a bunch of samples. I thought the multivitamin was once a day with not other vitamins. But, there's the calcium too. I really dread those dang things. Anyway, I'm all ears on suggestions. The fewer times per day the better.
  4. Ya. What a bunch off nonsense. You type in the Abbott Labs labs brand vitamin and it will change it to "medical quality protein" like above. Then you can link to their site to buy their disgusting vitamins.
  5. I wrote that I bought a certain brand of vitamins and they tasted terrible and my original post was edited and changed. See above. Does Abbott labs own this site? Am I not allowed to give my honest opinion of their products???
  6. I bought the Unjury brand chewable multivitamins and their calcium citrate vitamins as well. Both taste like c*#p!
  7. How long post op are you? I cannot wait to go to a swallowable vitamin.

    Bariatric Vitamins and Nausea

My nutritionist was pretty emphatic to get citrate and not carbonate. I was bummed because the calcium citrate chewables I have taste awful and the calcium carbonate vitamins I bought from Costco were pretty good. I'm just gonna grind it out until I can start taking normal pills.
  9. Well I guess if you feel good and are losing it's all good. I lost 40 lbs. from my day of surgery to one month later.
  10. I eat beef Jerky every day. Some brands are better than others. High protein, low carbs...just chew it up good. Can take it in the car too. Do any of you eat it after surgery? I'm 6 weeks post op and have no problems with it.

  12. My doc said to eat 1/2 cup to 1 cup. I probably eat around 3/4 of a cup in most cases. I have read a dozen different protocols on here regarding what to eat, and how much. I am absolutely compliant with what I eat. I do read on here that it seems like many try to push it a bit with food choices down the road. My surgeon said they make every patients sleeve the same size. As far as stretching it out, I have to believe that you'd have to really be over eating for a bit of time to start stretching it out. I'm pretty sure that all of us on this site did that...prior to surgery...and it didn't happen overnight. I think if you are honest with yourself and eat the foods your doctor approves, don't overeat, exercise, and stay focused you will undoubtedly be successful. It may take some longer than others but it will happen.

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

October 8 surgery. Down 40 lbs. as of Monday. Weigh in once per week. Started working out almost two weeks ago. No problems for the most part. Feel great. Started on soft solids one week after surgery per docs suggestion. Don't drink protein shakes, don't puree food. Just eat the small portions of the foods on the list and chew 'email up real well. Haven't "cheated" one time. Not a chip, fry, piece of candy, or sip of pop. I'm in this to go all the way. Not here, going through major surgery, to lose most of my excess weight. I want it ALL gone. Life is good.

    100 lbs lost!

    Good for you!
  16. I started out with a chewable multi vitamin. Having a heck of a time with them. Dry and almost make me gag. So a friend of mine gave me a couple powdered multi vitamin packets to try. Don't like these either. I'm pretty tolerant of things so I'm frustrated with this issue. My question is at any point in time are we allowed to take a multi vitamin in PILL form???
  17. I just re-read my post. Freaking auto-correct on my phone makes me look like I write like a 3rd grader. Sorry for all of the typos.

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

I weigh myself every Monday morning. I refuse to let myself become fixated on the number. I believe in the process. It's working well so far.
  19. This is exactly what I went through with Aetna. Same plan also. I didn't have as much recent weight history as they required. Spoke with an RN having my case. Explained it to her in detail and pleased my case. She took it to her medical director and I got approved within a week or so. Surgery was Oct. 8. Down 40 lbs. Feel great. Healing from the issue out. No regrets. Good luck!

    Fruits?

One month post op. Down 35 since surgery. I've had a pretty easy recovery. No issues. Started working out last week at 4 weeks post op. My doc had my on soft solids a week after surgery...think it was the fact that I felt good and he wanted the protein intake. Anyway, I'm now told I can eat some fruits and vegetables. My question is, at my point in time post op, what kind of fruits do you guys suggest? I'm looking to keep the sugars and carbs down of course. Thanks.
  21. I know this may be in the wrong forum section but oh well. Anyway, how do you all go about updating your weight so it shows up on the ticker? Thank you!

    Updating the ticker

    Thank you!
  23. Anyone have a suggestion regarding a good, quality, ACCURATE, scale? I have a digital one...not even sure where I got it...but you can step on it 3 different times and get 3 different results. Thank you!

    Depressed

I've had a moment or two where I thought. "Dang, this is permanent!" My fifteen year old asked me the other day if I missed being able to eat like I used to. I told him that every now and then I definitely feel that way but the type of foods I ate and the amount of food I ate prior to surgery just isn't ok...on any level. I compared to a heroin addict. They may love their drugs and the feeling they get from them but it is an absolute guarantee that they will end up dead if they keep at it. That was me...with food. You don't get to the size a bariatric surgery candidate gets to without having some seriously poor eating habits over many years. I told my kid that I realized that there other things that are more important to me other than eating a bunch of crap. Living a long healthy life...being an example to my kids...and enjoying things I've been avoiding for years matter to me. I am 2.5 weeks post surgery so I realize I have a ways to go, but I feel 100% better already. I have lost 20 pounds since surgery, I'm fitting into clothes I haven't worn in a long time, and I feel more energized. Food became too important to me for a lot of years and I am determined to move it way down the line in my list of priorities. I wish you luck. I hope with some success and weight loss you'll feel better about your decision.
