I was banded last Friday (Oct 19th). I started to feel better on Monday. I was dizzy and sore all weekend, and did very little. Monday I took a shower and put real clothes on - I felt much better. Every day is a little better, although I'm still sore. Don't push it. They say it takes several days even weeks until the port pain disappears. I'm slowly walking a few times a day (up and down the street), and carefully getting more "mobile". The gas pain kicked in 2 days after surgery, but, it wasn't horrible. Take 2-3 days to feel better, then take it slow. Good luck to all of us!

October 30th Bandsters? Smoking?
yankeerobin replied to Ginaki's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That cracks me up because I'm in the SAME BOAT! I've been on this #$%$ pre-op diet for 12 days and I'm surprised I have any friends left! I also quit smoking about 6 weeks ago, just as I began the whole Lap-Band process. I feel as though I've given up everything that ever made me happy (nicotine, food and alcohol). I've been very grumpy the last week, or so, but, I can honestly say it has gotten a little better. Perhaps since I know the end is near (my surgery is tomorrow), and hopefully I'll have some relief from this constant hunger. I've apologized to all my close friends and family about 100 times. I keep telling them to bear with me, I'll snap out of it. Thankfully they've all stuck around (haha!). Just keep focused on your surgery date, it'll all be worth it, right? Now I'm so nervous about tomorrow, all I want to do is smoke. I'm just a crazy mess. Just know that you're not alone! -
Years of Yo-Yo dieting & metabolism
yankeerobin posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone! This is really just a "venting" session, and I know many of you are dealing with this as well. Doesn't it seem like we lose weight at a snails pace compared to everyone else? Even worse, it seems like we GAIN weight faster than everyone else. Have you ever been on a diet, stuck to every single little rule and didn't cheat even just a little bit - then, one day you have a morsel of something "bad" and gain 2 pounds?? I'm so frustrated I could scream! I'm on my pre-op liquid diet, been good as gold for 8 days and I've lost 5 measly pounds! GRRRRRR! I remember when I could lose 5 pounds in 2 days, now it takes me 8 whole days of nothing but liquid??!! So frustrating. I really think that years of yo-yo dieting has messed with my metabolism. I know I didn't gain this weight over night, and I know it'll take a long-long-LONG time to lose it... but 5 pounds?? Come on! Of course now I'm concerned with what will happen when I'm banded (this Friday). I know I'll go crazy when I see the scale creeping along, or even stopping after surgery. It's just so frustrating. The ideal thing would be to hide the scale - been there, done that. I always talk myself into stepping on it. I try not to be obsessive with the numbers, but, how can you not be? I'm really discouraged and really just plain bummed out. I know it'll take a while, but, I'm literally starving on this #$#%$ pre-op diet and so disappointed. I know we've all felt like this - I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening :phanvan -
Hi there! I'm in Keller and will be banded on 10/19 by Dr. Marsden. I went through "lap band solutions" in Hurst - I'm very excited and very nervous. I started the pre-op diet today. Needless to say, I'm already starving - haha!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the site and new to LapBand! Yesterday I got my surgery date scheduled (Oct 19 - 2 weeks from today!). I'm excited and nervous and everything in between. My question is regarding the pre-op diet. From what I've read and heard, generally the pre-op diet is liquids only. My doctor's pre-op diet is real food mixed with protein shakes?? For example, yogurt and a bagle for breakfast, shake for lunch, chicken/salad for dinner and a shake before bed. That seems very 'generous' and I'm wondering if anyone else had this experience? I'm using Dr. Marsden in the DFW Texas area. Any thoughts?

Hello all! I'm having surgery on 10/19 with Dr. Marsden in DFW. Anyone else on the site use him? He seems very nice and I know he's done thousands of procedures - just curious if anyone else has used him? Any advice, or what to expect would be much appreciated! Looking forward to my last diet ever
