PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!
MichelleC replied to StrawartS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh, Honey! I feel for you. I don't know if anyone has already said this or not. I didn't read every post. But sometimes all this is a problem if the band is at a certain point where it is tight but not tight enough. I know they mention none of this in the power points - it is something that an non-banded person just doesn't understand. I am a bariatric medical professional and didn't understand until I myself got banded. I am so sorry you had this experience. As far as judging you for what you ate - I would dare to say there isn't a soul on this forum that should do that. We all (at least most of us) put that band to the test! -
Surgery Thursday--Questions
MichelleC replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Mandi, The Catheter is your doctor's preference - but most do not use in a short procedure such as this. I did not have to have one for my LB - it is not too bad - I have had one for other procedures. Most doctors allow you to shower and wash gently over your incisions 24 hours after your operation. As far as the pain meds go it just depends on your doctors usual manner of doing things. In my office I had one that gave before hand, one that gave as part of his discharge and one that did some of both. Many do give before. You might call and ask. GOOD LUCK! -

No problem - I have been there - yes. It is hard to wait! I had to wait a while for mine and I kept feeling like I was waiting to start my life over again. Seems silly now - but that is just how it feels. Most nurses are eager to work with you - especially if you are nice. Good Luck!! -

Don't lose sleep over it. :notagree Call them first thing in the morning - and I bet (I hope) they will be willing to help you out. It doesn't take that long to get any of those tests back. I am a reformed bariatric assistant, by the way. -

Hey Mandi, Just wanted to wish you luck. It sounds like the others really answered your questions. I have heard good things about Dr. Benavides! I live in Texas, too. Let us know how you do. Michelle -
What's your restriction pattern?
MichelleC replied to Wheetsin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wheetsin - Thanks for your reply. I have often thought my restriction and food tolerances changed at certain times of the month. A male surgeon thinks its crazy, though. I am glad to hear someone else experiences it. -
Something all bandsters need!!! A MUST HAVE!!!
MichelleC replied to bigbaby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
pineapple juice, No Kidding! I can't believe I have been banded for almost 2 years and didn't know that! I going to send my DH to the store today for some. My first reaction is always to try Water (or whatever) - but that just makes it way worse. Thanks! I wish I had found this site 2 years ago. Any other wisdom to impart? Michelle
