    Nauseated in the morning

I am 7 weeks post- op and have been having severe nausea. I'm currently taking Phenegren in suppository form &'that helps some. But the nausea gets worse as the day goes on. Is anyone else experiencing this? I am also taking Zofran in pill form. I've been checked out internally via CT tests, MRIs, colonoscopy, etc. and they all come back fine. If you have nausea, how long does it last? All day? How long have you had it? Any suggestions welcome.

    Chewable calcium citrate

I use the caramel flavored ones from Bariatric advantage - found at http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bariatric-advantage-calcium-citrate-chewy-bites-caramel.html And they taste like candy. I usual end a small meal with one & it feels like I a eating dessert! I highly recommend them!

    Protein shakes

Before my surgery, I tried out different companies & their Protein shakes so I would know what I liked before my guts were rearranged. I found that I like this peach-mango Protein drink the best, followed by the chocolate protein drink. http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bari-wise-bariatric-health-fruit-drinks-peachmango.html I like the chocolate one as it also aspartame free. http://www.bariatricchoice.com/wonderslim-aspartame-free-pudding-shakes-meal-replacement-chocolatecream.html I usually mix up one or the other in the mornings & put them in the fridge so there is always something ready to go when I get hungry.

    Does anyone have snacks

I found a snack that I like that has protein and fiber and a satisfying crunch. It's BBQ protein chips from BariatricChoice.com. The link is below. I am in the process of trying the other flavors. Haven't been wild about the Ranch or Sea Salt & Vinegar flavors. But the BBQ one is really good. http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bariwise-protein-potato-chips-protein-snacks-barbecue-7pk.html
  5. Hi all. I am about 3 weeks post- op and doing ok in that regard. I was still having a lot of pain, though, so last week my gastro doc ordered a CT scan. It revealed some anomalies like a large ascities next to my liver. My gastro doc compared the scan to the one I had in Jan., well before the surgery, and said it was there then too. So I called the surgeon who did my gastric bypass and was basically told that it had nothing to do with the bypass so they weren't going to deal with it. If my gastro guy was concerned, HE should order a needle biopsy. Is that a big brush off or what? Anyway, I did some calling around and it looks like I will be going to the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville, Florida next week. Has anyone been there? Or to a Mayo facility? I am scared & don't know what to expect. Any input, good or bad, is welcome!

1 week post op still in pain

I am only 12 days out from my RNY surgery & I have been having pain too on both sides. Not just soreness but pain. I called the specialists who did my surgery & they said "that's normal". I then went to see my gastro doc & he was concerned enough to order a CT scan for tomorrow. I still have my gallbladder so that might be the culprit. Anyway, pain is something that needs to be treated no matter what. ASK for something for the pain - suppositories are excellent in that they don't upset the tummy. Best of luck!
  7. Does anyone else have a problem with cellulitis? I found a large, hard bump on my inner left thigh today while showering. My hubby & I were scared it was a blood clot so we went to the ER. They ordered the standard blood work and then ordered an ultrasound of it, which hurt like hell. They have to PRESS DOWN to get a good scan & it was all I could do to stay on the gurney and not shriek my lungs out. Fast forward a couple of hours. ER doc says it is cellulitis. He explained that immunologist-suppressed people like me are susceptible to this, especially after surgery. I was given a prescription for a heavy duty anti-biotic & sent home. Of course I have had nausea ever since my surgery date, so this ought to be fun! Another horse pill to add to my collection! Has anyone else had problems with cellulitis? If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks.
  8. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis only a few months ago. But I had so many other health factors, it didn't stop me from having the RNY procedure. I am 11 days out of surgery and today I could just feel the food sitting in my colon/other parts. So I did what I do when I feel that way. I took a Linzess. I don't know if you've had one of those before but it quite powerful. There was an old Saturday Night Live skit waaaaaay back with Dan Ackroid selling a product called Super Colon Blow. That should be the name for this medicine. I ONLY take it when I KNOW I am going to be home and close to a bathroom because explosive diarrhea should be done in the privacy of one's home if at all possible. I am looking forward to being a few more days out of surgery and seeing if the gastroparesis returns, makes the occasional visit, or disappears completely.
  9. Hi. I am 10 days post-op and have just now moved into the purée part of the diet. Have any of you had/tried deviled ham in this phase? My husband says he doesn't think it is a good idea due to the fat content, but I am craving meat Protein all the time. I figure I should worry about high fat content later on when I can eat more things. If you were able to incorporate meat or fish into your phase 2 of your diet, I would love to hear how you did it. Thanks.

May 2014 RNY/Bypass Post Op Support Group

Hi. I had my RNY bypass on May 27th. I was only kept in the hospital one night. I wish they had kept me longer b/c I was in extreme pain. Post-op I have been having a lot of nausea and pain. I haven't thrown up yet and seem to be constipated no matter how much Water I drink. I have discovered the post-bariatric shakes & drinks from BariatricChoice.com. They have been integral for me as they are about the only thinks I can stand to ingest right now. My favorite is the chocolate Protein shake/pudding that is also aspartame free. They have a sampler pack where you can taste all the flavors. Pre-op, I also got their sampler pack of Protein Bars so that I could see which ones I like best. The nausea has been really bad. I take Zofran every 4 hours and that seems to help. I tried phenegren, but it didn't do anything for me. So it's back to Zofran for me. I eat the sugar-free Popsicles and that seems to help some. Any other suggestions? As far as the pain goes, I've tried everything and only thing that helps is the narcotic stuff. Which leads to constipation. Vicious cycle. I'm 9 days out from surgery and wondering when the pain & nausea will end. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Scale

Hi. I am looking for suggestions on which scale to purchase. I looked at Consumer Reports and the scales they rated only went up to 300 lbs. What kind of scales do you use? Do you like the ones that also show body fat percentages? Electronic or mechanical (old fashioned kind)?
