I never thought about it either. I actually started losing weight before my surgery. My fiance and I picked out the ring in January and he gave it to me on Easter. It was already loose when I got it. I really wanted to be able to wear it so I went ahead and got it sized.

Do they weigh you right before surgery

Yep, you usually lose weight on the pre surgical diet. -

Have you already or will you have to do a pre surgical liquid diet? -
I didn't want to have one but I finally did. My internist wanted me to have one and so did my neurologist. Then it was a requirement of my surgeon so I went on and did it. I had Obstructive sleep Apnea and it was pretty bad. I got my machine and started using it, which was difficult because I have claustrophobia. I only wore it a few weeks after the surgery. I had actually lost enough that the apnea is no longer occurring. I did not have another sleep study proving that, but I can feel it. No more snoring, etc. I stopped wearing it and I have been sleeping very well through the night. After what I found out, if I had to go back and do it over, I would have done it long ago. If you do have it, it will be considered as a co-morbidity and your dr can add that on for approval of your insurance company for the surgery.

Excess skin - warning photos
pik replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What a beautiful girl you are! I am concerned with the skin but I feel it will inevitably happen. I have told my fiance that it is very doubtful that I would ever have the plastic surgery. I had such a time with this surgery I am actually afraid of any more surgery. -

Latido where you the one who had the recipe for falafel? If so, can you please share it with me again? Did you try itand was it good? If you weren't, then oops. =) -
I'm doing a lot better, thank you. I had an endoscopy and they found a stricture and dilated it. I lived in PG County growing up and then we moved out near VA Beach. I have family in and near La Plata. Was just there on Wednesday.

I just saw the pictures from my endoscopy/stricture

I don't get it either, and I was in the hospital as an inpatient twice and they could have just done it. They only did it for me when I got to the point where I couldn't eat or drink and looked worse than a dead person. If I were you, I would insist. It went on with me from soon after my surgery up until a couple of weeks ago. I could not believe the difference in what it was and what it is now. There was no wonder I couldn't eat!!! They thought I was having either a functional or mechanical issue as well. I was very bad off to the point there were talking feeding tubes! I wish you well, and be your own advocate. -
HELP! serious complications 3 months post op
pik replied to TashaB88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh wow. I am so sorry this is happening to you. I have had something similar happen to me. I will be at 8 weeks on this Wednesday and I have been in the hospital twice when things got stuck, and ended up with Pancreatitis. I had a stricture that was opened up 2 weeks ago. I had nausea the whole time and was unable to eat or drink anything and the dr told me he may have to admit me back in and place a picc line and possibly put in a feeding tube in my stomach, and revise the surgery. So yes, it has happened to me. Luckily that endoscopy I had helped and he was able to open up the stricture. I do feel it has closed some and they told me I may have to have it dilated 1-2 more times. I hope you get to doing better. -
I was 241 when they weighed me prior to surgery and when I got home from the hospital I weighed 251. I gained ten pounds of fluid! I think it took 3-4 days for it to come off. Each subsequent time (2x) I was in the hospital, I gained 5 pounds. That Fluid comes off easily. No biggie.

The bathing suit shorts that just fit you a few months ago were falling off in the pool yesterday. I wore a bathing suit and didn't feel huge around other people. -
Sounds good. Do you make the gnocchi yourself?
-
My dietitian told me I would be able to eat it later on down the line.

IM SO WORRIED ABOUT MY HAIR FALLING OUT!
pik replied to UrCaliGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seems like other people don't really notice our hair loss. I have been losing hair for years due to the weekly chemo I take. The only one who notices that is my fiance because it is all over the place! Whenever I get my hair cut people think it is so thick. In reality, I used to have more than three times the hair I have now. -
I loved coffee. I loved Mochas. LOVELOVELOVE. I tried a decaf iced coffee there last week and it was BAD. I thought it was just a fluke. Maybe it was just too strong. I hadn't had coffee of any kind for over 2 months. I tried a lighter tasting blend here at home this morning. Bad. Just awful. Most of my tastes had changed, everything tasted off and just wrong. Everything has gotten back to normal for the most part. I used to love coffee. Now I feel like the nine year old kid who begged her mom to let her have coffee and finally got it and it was awful! Of course I would normally have full fat half and half and now it's fat free and I know that is a big issue.... Oh goodness.....
-
Is anyone else having this issue? I think especially my scalp. I guess every thing is just super dry. Not sure if it's from surgery or not, but it was not like this before surgery.
-
I don't think juicing is as awful as some people make it out. I usually put in a few vegetables, some spinach, and an apple.

I am so jealous. I bet if I used regulat half and half it wouldn't be so gross.
