Does anyone have a problem with beef?
pik replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing much better since they took care of my stricture. I have been feeling my medicine go down and some feel like they are getting stuck again. I imagine I will have to have another endoscopy for further dilation. Yesterday was the worse day since before. I was so nauseous and just on the verge of getting sick. I was feeling pretty bad... Thank you so much for asking! -

Wow. I sure have issue with it. I sometimes have problem with scrambled eggs. I seem to be able to handle them better when they are cooked medium and with cheese. I wonder if today is just a really bad day for eating. I had trouble with tunafish at lunch and that has never happened. Oh bother. -
Well as of today, I am halfway to my goal. This is including my weight loss from before the surgery which was 20 or so pounds. I am also nearing the 100's, so that is exciting as well! I was at a 2 week or so stall and have picked back up losing weight again...

Well I saw my dr today and he was talking about me losing 40 lbs. I am putting myself at losing 57 more pounds to be at goal. That would be at the higher end of the normal weight scale, which to me is kind of small for me. He could be right with that, I guess we will see!

Awww! Thank you Angel! I kinda have to agree with you!!! =)

Oh I am a lover of pizza. But, I am only 2 months out from surgery, so maybe I need to give it some time. It just seems to be so greasy. Even before surgery I used to pat it down with napkins. Greasy foods, I have noticed, do not work well with me.

Thank you!

I just saw the pictures from my endoscopy/stricture
pik posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had told my drs over and over I thought I had a stricture and they would not do an endoscopy. Just kept telling me that nothing like that showed up on the Upper GI. I can see the stricture and it is very closed off looking and it looks like there is something stuck there. It looks like one of my pills that had gotten me admitted into the hospital twice. It shows the dilation of the stricture which is sooooo much larger looking than before the dilation. Unbelievable. There is no wonder I couldn't eat and could barely drink! I was very angry after the endoscopy when they told me I had a stricture, but at the same time very grateful they were able to do something about it. Now looking at the pictures it just magnifies the fact that they weren't listening to me about how I was feeling. -

Did you already have a stricture once? I can't remember if it was you or someone else. Mine has gotten closed up again. Not like it was but capsules are feeling stuck. I have an appointment tomorrow and I am going to talk to him about it. The nausea is coming back also. I left a message on Monday and no one ever called me back. -
EGD today - feeling discouraged and don't know what to do
pik replied to docbree's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have RA also. I did have the bypass surgery. I stopped taking any IBU probably a month before my surgery. I had never been told I could not use steroids. I would be more concerned with the GERD that can occur with the Sleeve, I think. I am glad the polyps were benign. Did they say it would be normal for you to have them return? The reason I ask is because 4 years ago my GI dr found colon polyps which were pre cancerous (2 of them) and he removed them. Then 2 years later he found 4 more. Also pre cancerous. My father had colon cancer so I have to stay on top of it. If you have the surgery I wonder if they would have to allow for more room in the case that they return. I don't know if that makes sense or sounds weird. I just know that there is not much room in the stomach after surgery for food and if there are polyps which grow back, well you get what I am saying. -
Off the subject....

All the way up at the top where it says hello (your name) there is a menu there that allows you to go to the different areas of your account to update. -
You will not know it even happened except for maybe a sore throat.
-
I tried some pizza the other day and for now I think it is going to be one of those things that is just not a good thing for me.

This is normal, as folks are saying. When I went to my dietitian and exercise appt a couple of weeks ago, they told me that they expect for you to lose 10% of your body weight within the first two months. I do not see what your initial weight was, but you have probably done that. Up until a couple of days ago I was at a stall for two weeks or more, but I was ok with that. I had a rough time and was getting to a place of healing. Now I am losing how I was before. I think my stall came a little later on because my progress was different as far as recovery and having a lot of nausea and not able to eat with the stricture I had. I think what you are going through is normal and you will be back to losing in no time. Try not to weigh yourself for a little while...

Eating is no longer fun
pik replied to weightloss4liss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. I think the enjoyment of eating is what got us all here. It is a little hard for me. I was never really addicted to food, I had other issues. It just does seem that when I eat, it does not seem like it is what I should be able to eat. I feel it is under 1/4 cup at this time and it takes me much longer than 30 minutes before I can drink anything. This is an issue for me because I have to eat something to be able to take my medicine and then I have to wait almost an hour and a half before I can drink anything, and by then it seems like I should be eating something again. I feel like all day long it is a job to try and eat and drink. I def don't get the amount of fluids and Protein in that I should. I don't care about enjoying it...I am bothered that it is such a job for me! -
Are you getting in enough calories per day?

I have craved popcorn a few times but have yet to have it......

I used to make some really good banana nut bread but it had a lot of sugar in it. I am thinking of trying an alternative with Spenda and seeing how it tastes. My fiances dad tells me he has forgotten what the banana nut bread tastes like. That is his hint for me to make him some and I haven't in months!

Does everyone have a drain after surgery?
pik replied to cpower100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No drain here. I think it depends on what your individual surgeon does. I did have an extra incision where a medicine ball was attached, though. -
I had those but I lost more weight and they were not working. My jeweler told me it is better to have the ring sized more than once than to size it down one huge size. Mine was sized down almost 2 sizes. He said it would be worse on the integrity of the ring to have it done in the end.

Thank you!!

I am so glad you were able to find it, and you are right! Right in time. I did not want that happening so I got it re-sized....
