Third endoscopy today / stricture
pik replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. I just have to wonder if there is something else they can do to keep it from constantly closing. Something along the lines of when a stent is placed in an artery. -
What food did you eat that you knew you shouldn't?
pik replied to DaronB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate a little bit of a piece of cake last month. I knew I shouldn't have because it could have possibly caused dumping syndrome due to the sugar. It didn't. I ate some chicken wings and took the skin off. Even with the skin removed it must have been pretty greasy and I got sick immediately. At this point I have found that if it is at all greasy, I get sick. I would rather not have it than feel the way it makes me feel but you almost have to try things to find out what you are able to tolerate. -
Just like it says. My stomach is very sensitive and I have a hard time gauging what I can do. Even when it has been well enough time for me to be able to eat again or take a sip of something, it isn't. I have been sick all evening and I guess this happens 2-3 times a week. It is a very painful process for me. I go in for my third endoscopy this Thursday. I just had one almost three weeks ago, I guess it was and another four weeks before that. I have a stricture that keeps coming back. I am not sure how many times the surgeon is going to dilate it before he decides to go ahead and do a revision. I am feeling much better than I did in the first couple of months after my surgery but I am nowhere close to feeling normal by any means. I love the fact that I have lost weight and have more energy and can get around with more ease. My RA and OA have really improved, but feeling like I do right now is the pits.

Psych appointment help

It's no biggie. They told me to just not harp on the questions and to answer the first thing that comes to mind. I did exactly as they said and my results showed that I was apprehensive about having the surgery, and it was exactly right. I was very apprehensive and when I took that test, I was not sure about going through with the surgery. How they got that out of the questions they asked me I will never know. -
I hope you are too!!!

Thank you! It is a great feeling!!!!!

I would say that no two people are the same as far as their surgeries and recovery so it is hard to tell. I have had a lot of issues where as many others here have not..

Greasy foods are such a bad thing for me......
pik posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every single time. I guess that could be a good thing, because they really aren't good for you. I ordered some wings today thinking they would be dry rubbed and not fried but I was wrong. Just a couple bites and I was sick. I still am. Blah. Anyone else with problems with greasy foods? I don't know if this is going to be a forever thing or what. -
Going back in for another endoscopy. More stricture!

I saw my surgeon today because food has been getting stuck again and now I am at the point where Fluid will not go down and I can't take my medicine. He wanted to do the endoscopy tomorrow but there was no availability. He is on call this weekend and wants me to come in through the ER. Then he will do another one two weeks later. I asked him how long this is going to go on and he said he has done as many as 4 on a patient. I could possibly have to have a revision done but we are not sure about that. He told me that they did not appreciate the fact that I had a stricture before. I had it much earlier than anyone ever really gets one and they just didn't think that could have been my problem. I have been having such a rough time with this surgery. That is for darned sure. -

Can't tell if I am hungry or full or what!

I know I have hardly eaten today because I have had quite a bit of nausea. I half way feel full and hungry all at the same time! Makes no sense! Does anyone else have that issue? -

You know I got a bill yesterday that doesn't make sense to me either. My surgery was paid for and I paid the $1,216 co pay. I got this bill that says I owe $568.00 which is less than 20% of what the charges were and more than 20% of what insurance paid. I was under the impression that once I paid all the crap they maid me pay before the surgery, my insurance paying for the surgery, and me paying the co pay that that was it. Now I get this bill that doesn't add up and of course the billing person is not at her desk when I call. See with me, I will take all the time in the world to get that stuff figured out. The medical field and their billing, what they charge, etc is a racket! When I had my daughter 18 years ago, the hospital charged my insurance company for 2 births and my insurance paid it! I don't stand for that crap! I am trying to take less meds too because I have such a hard time with them all since surgery. I have not been taking all of the Vitamins I am supposed to take. Feels like an all day job getting the meds I absolutely must take in. -
It really is rough seeing all of that hair come out. I guess the best thing to do is stay positive if we can!!!

OMG we are such twins! I am off of cholesterol meds and GERD meds. I have had a couple of those stalls and I pood yesterday too! (finally!) lol. You know, I am not even following my dietitian stuff. I know that is awful. For the most part I have greek yogurt, cheese, Water, and not much else. food just makes me feel bad. I had a second stricture opened up a couple of weeks ago and have another endoscopy scheduled for this Thursday. This one surgeon in the office has been taking care of me, listening to what I am saying...which is such a good thing. I have been doing a lot more walking and feeling a lot better, so that is a good thing. Right now I feel awful, but it is because of my RA meds. I have just started back on the chemo and have been on the biologic again for about a month. These meds are supposed to stop your joints from getting messed up but they make you feel so bad. Just awful. I had a good stretch where my joints felt good and I felt good in that respect because I was off of the medicine, but I know I can't stay off of them. -
If you are Vit D deficient, you exp more pain. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and when my levels are below normal, I cantell it. I take 100,000 iu per week to stay where I need to be. I am having a lot of hair loss. Handfuls after showers. You and I can be a couple of baldies together and just rock it!
-
I am almost three months out. My case could be different. Well, we are all different, of course. I do not work and have Rheumatoid Arthritis and other illnesses so things were a bit rougher for me. They still are.
-
After about 2 weeks, I would say.
-
It took me around five weeks before I was pain free. I don't know when I stopped being emotional. All I know is it was there and then one day it was gone.

Greasy foods are such a bad thing for me......
pik replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no idea how old mine was but I went to the ER several years ago with chest pain and was released. I keep my records, so when I got a copy of the report, I saw where the radiologist noted a large hiatal hernia. No one ever told me. I would have never known if I was not one to keep my own personal chart at home. -

Isn't that crazy?!?!? -
I got mine last month. I have an auto-immune disease (RA) so I have got to get it every year. I had no adverse effects because of it.

I did not have the choice of the sleeve. My insurance did not cover it. My Rheumatologist wanted me to have the sleeve due to absorption. My main surgery was the hernia. I have known about it for a few years and it caused my stomach to be up in my chest and it started to twist, which is bad. They only wanted to do the hernia surgery if I also had WLS. They said that the hernia repairs keep coming undone with people who are overweight and I would be in and out of surgery. -

My dr told me GERD could be an issue with the sleeve. I have had the bypass. I had a pretty bad problem with GERD before the surgery due to a large Hiatal hernia I had repaired when I had the bypass.
