Anyone having surgery 7-15?
pik replied to *Misty*Raine*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would love to have a salad right now! I would love to have a chick pea! LOL! I can't get over some of the diets other drs use. -
I can have nsaids up to 48 hours pre surgery. I have tried to not use them as much as possible, though.

A little over a week for me too! Well, ten days. So many times I have wanted to eat and haven't. I have complained, however. I have no idea why we can't at least eat a lean meat, like chicken breast. I looked up the nutritional value of a scrambled egg and it seems most of its calories are from fat. UGH. Well, nine more days of this diet and then surgery for me.

Oh I would love to be on that diet!

Is there anyone here with Rheumatoid Arthritis or any other Auto Immune disorder?
pik replied to pik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only time I use narcotics is when my pain is so severe that I cannot sleep. I have been doing my best to not use any ibuprofen so that I will be used to it. I may have to use some steroids after my surgery... I do have Lidoderm Patches and I use voltaren on my skin. A big concern I have is healing properly. I have stopped my Methotrexate and Orencia as of the end of last month and I will not be able to take it for two weeks after the surgery. It is just scary... -

I am on day 4 today and I will say day 1 was fine, but 2 and three were awful! Headache. Dizziness very early in the morning. Nausea, but I had that already. Today is not so bad so far. I have not been able to drink as much Water as I am supposed to and have not finished the shakes. The soup made me wanna hurl the other day and I have not had it since.....

I just read the article and he nearly DID injure someone!

Do not let this person do surgery on you. Who knows if it was a one time mistake or not, but most certain you don't want him to be drunk and operating on you. I would give the office a call and switch surgeons. Idon't think it should delay anything if you use another dr in the practice. Thank goodness he wasn't loaded when he did your EGD! I know people make mistakes, but phycisians are there to take care of people, and mistakes like that are not ok. They hold your life in their hands.....makes me think of a pilot doing something like that....

Anyone having surgery 7-15?

Day 4 of my pre op diet. Yesterday I was suffering. I have had nausea for quite a bit now, prior to the diet. I had it for 6 days before starting my diet and I have had it up until going to bed last night. Yesterday I wanted to give up. I was hungy and had nausea for so long I couldn't take it any more. I wanted to just say no to the surgery. I know I need my Hiatal Hernia surgery no matter what but I was ready to be done with the WLS. Today I am feeling a lot better. Just nausea a bit with the shake I had this morning. (and cleaning the litterbox) ugh. I am hoping it won't be an all day ordeal and so far it hasn't been. Thank the Lord for that! -
Did any of you start getting headaches after starting your 2 week diet??? This is my third day and today and yesterday I have had awful headaches. I don't know if it is the change in my diet or if it is the fact that I am back to using aspartame. That stuff gives me a headache. I had migraines for years and I stopped using it and poof. They were gone. Now they are back. Oh man.

Mine is on 7/16! -
What I hear from some in my family is that I can do it on my own, and I have. I lost 125 pounds and got down nearly to my goal weight. I actually looked at some smaller sized clothing but I don't think I want to buy anything to try and fit into later. I have no idea what my body is going to look like after the surgery. I don't know if I am going to wear the same 'type' of clothing. There are so many nice clothes that thinner people can wear that just do not look right on larger people. I am one of the people who try not to wear clothes that do not flatter my figure. One thing I will be buying next year is a wedding dress. I can't even picture a smaller me in a wedding dress. All I keep seeing is this bigger me and the type of dress I would wear at this size. All of that could change! Truthfully I would like to try and exercize and not have as much extra skin left over, but I know that i will have some. When I lost it before I didn't have it. I think the rate you lose it with wls is much faster and therefore you have the excess skin. I am not looking forward to that at all.

I will be having the band removed in 5 days Have you heard back whether or not your insurance will cover the RNY?
-
Starting my liquid diet today. It doesn't taste bad and I had a bit of nausea before drinking it but now I have a stomach ache. Weird symptoms since my Upper GI last week so I don't know if it is that or the drink! =/ I just can't imagine getting 64 ounces of Water in a day.
-
Well good luck! I have been nauseous since last Wednesday and I feel like poo! My dr thinks it is from the barium from my upper gi I had last week. Now I just feel like laying around, and that's about all I've done...
-
I am certainly a little afraid for my recovery! I know I just have to work through it. My biggest fear has to do with the medications I have to take for my RA and my not healing well, etc... =/

I have been nauseus all week. I have no idea why and I am wondering if it may be because of nerves due to the surgery, who knows. I had an upper GI the other day and the dr looked at my chest CT from a month ago and told me my whole stomach was in my chest cavity. Wow. None of my doctors had ever really put it like that but he was out with it. Then I saw my stomach up on the screen and I could see the actual hernia. just a little bit of the stomach was below the hernia and the barium was stuck in the upper part, the hernia not allowing it to pass thru. I know I need the surgery, but it is a little scary. I am just going to try and think positively that everything will go right.

Me too. I have a couple of friends who have had it but they are caught up in their own lives right now. Looks like your surgery is coming up pretty soon, mine is ten days after yours! It would be great to talk to someone in my own area going through the same thing I am!

I am having my surgery at Fair Oaks too! July 16!
-
Well, I had to prep for a colonoscopy twice and this is better than that! At least we don't have to drink any prep! Blah
-
I start on the second and luckily my fiance' and I are not big outdoor party get together people! Especially not out in this heat! One thing I will have a problem with is our Sunday breakfasts we have with some of our friends. I am also kinda worried about cooking dinner for my fiance'. I am thinking he should eat dinner on his way home. Good luck with your diet and your surgery!
