  1. Glad it went well! I will be checking into Fair Oaks in 6 days!
  2. My biggest issue has been getting the fluids in that I need. There is no way in the world I could ever f=drink 64 oz of Water a day! I do not mislead the dr or nutritionist about it though..... I see them both tomorrow for my last visit before surgery.
  3. I have also had to be on medications, and three anti acid or med for reflux. It has helped but not to the point that I have had no symptoms. On the flip side, since i have been on the liquid diet, I have had not one issue.

    Pounds lost.

I always look at people's tickers or just at the tiny bit of profile info to the left of a persons posts. It usually says.
  5. Well right now the Protein drinks I had to get from my surgeon are atrocious so I am drinking premiere protein, which I was drinking before. Att he point you are now, can you swallow pills at all?
  6. Hello all. I guess this is my first time posting a thread! My name is Robyn and my surgery is scheduled for next month, July 16th. Some days I am excited. I have lost the weight before but I have also gained it back. On my own, I lost 125 pounds. I just don't think I can do it again. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia and a host of other things, and sometimes moving around is just too painful. I am excited to see the day that I get down to the size that I should be, but I am afraid of the way I am going about it some days. I have to have a surgery one way or the other. I have a very large hiatal hernia that must be fixed. Right now my stomach is 2/3 upinto my chest and I am not doing well. My RA causes my cells to attack healthy cells. I have to be on a chemotherapy drug as well as a biologic to supress my immune system and I do not heal well. I have to stop the medications previous my surgery as well as after it. I will be off of them for 5 weeks. They help with the pain and inflamation as well as holding back the disease process. Five weeks is not going to kill me, I know this. The surgeon tells me I really need to have the wls now or never. The HH surgery is very extensive and if I have the WLS later, the surgeon will have to undo and then redo the HH surgery as well. It is just a lot to take in.
  7. How did your surgery go and how is recovery?
  8. Much Much better!!! Thank you! I am half way through my 2 week pre op diet. I am not feeling nervous now but on the second day of the diet I was unsure!
  9. I was feeling that way around day 4. I was questioning if I could do it, if I even wanted to do it. This is day 6 or 7 for me. It is getting a lot better.
  10. Oh I don't think so...I would love a slice of pizza or a steak! Or even just a couple of bites!
  11. I am on my 7th day and my 2nd day was the worst one yet. I had a headache and was feeling comepletely starved. I have not been getting the amount of shakes I am supposed to in because I've been dealing with a lot of nausea which started before the diet. It gets better in the next few days. Hang in there!
  12. I was feeling the same way a bit ago and I think it is very normal. One day we talk ourselves out of it and the next day we are all for it. Fear and nervousness kick in. I had all of that. Now I am in my two week pre-op diet phase and I have 8 days til surgery. I am not nervous anymore, but I imagine the night before and day of the surgery I will be. I am also having a Hernia surgery that is a must and they will be doing the bypass at the same time. I put both surgeries on hold for several months while I made the decision whether or not I wanted to have the bypass. I gave myself time to make that decision, but even after that I was fearful. Iposted about that here and got lots of input, just like you are now. The hernia is causing me a lot of issues and the surgery has become a must, whether it is with or without the bypass surgery. I would take the time and maybe make a pro/con list. You obviously have the internet, so do your research on the surgery and it's outcome. Read peoples success stories here. I know that many of my health issues are going to be memories once the pounds start coming off and that was a big thing for me. I know that some of my issues will be life long but the ones that will be going away make the lifelong ones worse. That was on my pro list. I am getting married next year. I was thinking of how much better I would look in that wedding dress after losing some weight. Then I thought that that is not a reason for the surgery, and it isn't. When I look at wedding dresses, I do not see a thin me in them, I see the now me in them. My fiance' loves me no matter what. It is a non-issue. My wedding no longer comes into play but what does come into play is the things I will be able to do with the weight off that I cannot do now. I know I am still going to be limited depending on the day, because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I know I will still need to pick my battles, just like now. But my joints will not hurt near as bad with the weight off of them. That is a HUGE deal!!!! The damage that is already there is not going to go away, but the problems the weight is causing and my inability to exercise is going to change and that is so exciting to me!!! I wish you well and good luck. You may lose that fear and you may decide it is not the time for you yet, and it may not be. This is going to be a big life change. I would start making those changes now, as far as how you eat. Will you be able to eat differently? Are you ready for that? That makes a huge difference I think, whether you are or are not.
  13. You know, I have had testing prior to my surgery that the hernia showed up in, but I already knew I had it. It has shown up in a chest xray, chest ct scan, upper endoscopy, upper gi and there is one more but I can't remember what it is! A few of the tests were for other issues and the radiologist had it in his report and no dr ever told me about it. I am crazy about keeping my own medical chart so when I got my reports I saw it. I went through all of this terrible chest pain and had to have a whole cardiac work up and I was fine, which is good, but I was still having the pain. I finally asked my dr if she thought it could be the hernia and she said she bets it is. It just normally wouldn't present with side effects but mine sure does!!!

    im STARVING!

I am on day 5 of 14. I would love to have some kind of food. For my diet, you are to have 4 shakes, a bar, and the Soup mix, so 6 products a day and 64 oz of Water. Not happening. I am good to get in 12 oz of water and today I had 3 shakes and the bar. No soup. We are allowed a small banana per day and sugar free popcsicles and Jello.
  16. I stopped drinking soda a long long time ago but I still drink a cup of coffee a day. I checked my diet and I didn't have to stop it for the liquid diet but I think I will have to stop after surgery. I will probably try and do one day caffeine, next day decaf, so on and so forth.
  17. I didn't come off caffeine....I need to check to see if I was supposed to. I know I needed to after surgery but I didn't know before too! =/
  18. Hes a gem!!! Keep him!! Don't you worry about that!!!
  19. Oh wow. My surgeon was very much against me having the sleeve for the same reason. Good luck in the future with this new surgery! i have been kind of worried over both of the surgeries but it is starting to subside.
  20. I am in Woodbridge and my surgery is scheduled for the 16th of this month.
  21. Is your current weight 159? Why did you need gastric bypass?
  22. I have a very large Hiatal Hernia. It allows my entire stomach to go into my thoracic cavity. (chest) It has caused me quite the bit of problems and initially I went to a surgeon for the hernia. He would not do the surgery unless I also had weight loos surgery at the same time. He said it would just keep coming back. I did not go back to see him because it felt like he was pushing me into an elective surgery. My current surgeon has told me I need to have it done with the hernia surgery because if I don't, I really cannot do it in the future unless they undo the hernia surgery. They are telling me the hernia part is going to be pretty extensive. It took me some time to decide but I finally decided on both surgeries. So, yep, hernia surgery and gastric bypass.
  23. No way I would have gone to a cookout! Cookout is for food!!! It is nice to have that kind of support from him. He is a wonderful man.
  24. It's rough. My fiance has basically been eating like me all weekend and on 4th of July. I just sent him out to go eat some real food. He has been such a sweetie through this.
  25. I would love almost anything besides what I am eating....or not eating.
