  1. I thought I answ Thanks! I do use a heating pad but there is no way I am getting in my tub! I would probably get in there and be stuck until my fiance' gets off of work! My RA doesn't allow me to do some things....
  2. Yes, I already had some from the hospital but he gave me another rx for the pain. I really try and take it only once a day, in the evening. Some days I take it in the morning as well.
  3. Not feeling much better today and the dr told me the pain I am having is normal because that is the area where they had to go through the most muscle/connective tissue and the staples have the furthest to go through. He told me if it doesn't let up in the next couple of weeks to call the office. Also that the pain may be around 6-8 weeks status post surgery but should not be as bad. None of this makes me feel much better today because I am having pain and nausea with dizziness as well.... ugh Thanks so much for asking.
  4. She couldn't recommend it because she hasn't had it, just as you have not had the RNY and should not recommend against it. I am only 8 days outside of the RNY surgery and am still in a lot of pain. I can't really recommend it at this point because I really haven't lived with it long enough. Just the same as you have never had it and should not recommend against it. What are your families difficulties? What is the struggle? Was the surgery done wrong or can they not eat certain things?
  5. No one had this? I see my dr tomorrow, hopefully he can loan some insight.
  6. My incisions are and have been hurting pretty bad, and even places where there are no incisions. It feels like my insides are ripping apart. I had a lot of the gas left over from surgery and it still is not all gone. I have also eaten yogurt and did not have a problem with the dairy...... I guess one of these days I will get to feeling half better. My follow up with the surgeon is tomorrow...
  7. I have been in pain since I had the surgery last Wednesday, that has not stopped. Today I have had diarrhea for most of the day. Is it dumping? I have no idea. I have had a Protein drink today, some Water, and some sf pudding. I am afraid to drink anything to take my seizure medication that it will just go right through me. I do not know what to do with myself in all honesty...
  8. I had my surgery last Wednesday on the 16th, and today is the 21st. I am feeling so exhausted right now. I think I slept well last night. Maybe my body is just catching up. My pain was getting better by the day but yesterday it got worse. Today I am a little in between. I am sitting here and I can barely keep my eyes open.
  9. Thanks everyone for your advice. They never told me not to have dairy at all. They even said I could have the sf pudding.I will stay away from it I guess. I did have creamed Soup the other day made with 1% milk and I did fine.
  10. Not me, and can I tell you how hard it was to find yogurt under 6gr sugar? Very!
  11. Mine is nothing over 6 grams of sugar....
  12. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am dealing with that as well as the surgery and for me, it is kind of scary. Is there anyone out there in the same boat as me?
  13. Different surgeons have differing opinions, even within the same group. I am on Orencia, but when I began all of this, I was on Enbrel. My first surgeon wanted me off of it 4 weeks before the surgery and 4 weeks after. The surgeon I used said 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. I haven't had my Orencia or Methotrexate since the end of June......
  14. My RD told me 2oz every 15 minutes. I am not accomplishing that. I am having a very very hard time taking my medicines that I have got to take. I would say it takes me 45 minutes to get it all down. I have to split them, powder them, anything them and it all feels like it is getting stuck. Just is not fun at all.

    Question on pain

In reading this, everyone is different. I never had a c section, but I did have two natural births without any pain medication or anything. I would have them four times over as compared to what I have been dealing with.
  16. I am not that far out and have not been doing great. I sure hope you feel better and that someone can give their advice....

    Gum?

I was told no gum, no straws, no carbonated drinks. All of it introduces gas/air into the stomach.

    Burping

Be happy about that because I am full of gas from the surgery and it is just not going away!
  19. I had my surgery on the 16th of July and I came home 2 days later on the 18th. My fiance' has been taking great care of me but I have been in some awesome pain and the gas from the surgery is just not giving. I did feel a bit better today. I have only taken my pain meds once today at around 530am and took Tylenol a couple of times during the day. I will be taking the pain med before bed, and I will also be taking the nausea medicine. I am getting over the wth did I do to myself feeling. I did gain over 10 lbs at the hospital with all of the Fluid but I have lost that and then some. My stomach is so bloated with gas it looks like I weigh a million lbs.... very uncomfortable. My fiance took out my on Q pain ball catheter this evening. He has been the absolute best.
  20. What flavor are you using? I really like them, esp the caramel ones.
  21. I think it may also depend on the individual and any previous medical illnesses they may have. I take quite a bit of Vitamins every day, while not every 2 hours, I do take them three times a day. It's no big deal for me outside of remembering to do it and spacing them out right as the Iron and Calcium have to be taken at least 2 hours apart from one another. The calcium is one that I take three times a day so I just have to pay attention to the time. I have Vitamin d deficiency and a history of severe iron deficiency anemia as well as plenty of other things going on. Of the list they have of all the vitamins, I have to take every single one of them. I am not the one who said you have to take them every 2 hours, but you should also understand that each patient is an individual and may have to do things differently.
  22. I had RNY and I do have to take a bit of Vitamins. I take 2 Calcium citrate chewables three times a day, Multivitamin two times a day, Iron once a day, B12 once a day, and B50 once or twice a day. I also have to take a large dose of Vitamin D 2x a week, I have been doing that for a few years. Fifty thousand IUs 2x a week. It is no big deal though....
  23. I have to take a lot of medications but there is one of my pills that is giving me such a hard time, and it is my seizure medication (one of them). My dr told me I can break them in half and it should be fine, but I have found that I have to crush them... so gross. Last night one of them felt totally stuck and it was awful. Does anyone know if it is always going to be like this or maybe I am just super swollen? I feel like it takes me 45 minutes to take all of my meds!
  24. My father had colon cancer so that made it so that I have a strong family history. I was having severe Iron anemic deficiency and no one could tell where the blood loss was coming from, so when I was 38 I had an upper endoscopy and colonscopy. They did find 2 pre cancerous polyps and removed them. My dr told me I needed to come back in 2 years for a repeat study. I had that a few months ago and this time I had four precancerous polyps. None of my drs ever said that the wls would be a bad decision due to the polyps, and they all know about them and have reviewed the pictures and reports. The colon is in a much different area that where the wls is performed so I don't see where the problem would be, although I am not a dr. I do think the your diet would change and you would probably be able to do more exercise once having the surgery and that could only help!
  25. Thanks. Imay try to split them even smaller. I had been doing them in half. They also come in capsules, and I am wondering if I couldn't just get them in that form.
