I had a ct scan last night that showed a Fluid packet below my left lower lobe of my lung. A pulmonologist came in and is ordering a more localized scan of my lungs. I don't know if they are telling me everything at this point or not. Tomorrow I have to have another upper gi. I am feeling so much better as compared to yesterday. The surgeon I originally saw before the one that did my surgery. He is fine but I will say I am glad I chose the one that I did. He seems more caring to me. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

I took a couple of bites of scrambled egg today at around 8am and then waited about an hour to have some of my Protein drink to take my medicine with. I still haven't taken all of my medicine. Two pills and two sips later I felt like I was going to throw up. I have been like that for hours. Finally those sips of Protein Drink came up. About 30 minutes ago I took a tsp of Pepto Bismol and that came up. I can't drink anything. I got sick again and it looked like I drank the whole bottle of Pepto. I am feeling better but it still feels like something is stuck. I called the dr on call and it didn't seem to be a big deal to him but it sure is to me! Fiance is out looking for Papaya Extract for me. Oh God I hope this never happens again.

when do you start getting rid of clothes?
pik replied to Wires's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This all sounds great! I will be happy to start shrinking but I will probably just start pulling clothes that I grew out of before I buy anything new if at all possible. -

Unsweetened Flavor Drops Jackpot

I saw that bacon one on their website and there is no way I would be able to drink water that tastes like bacon! -
I think I wouldn't worry about it so much. I know we watch the scale like a hawk, or I know I do, but just after the surgery you need to focus more on being healthy. My plan for the mushy food still has me drinking Protein Drinks a couple times a day and the food you can eat is plenty, but really doesn't seem like weight gaining foods to me.

Are these any different than the crystal lite drops out on the market? -
when do you start getting rid of clothes?
pik replied to Wires's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There was another post up here like this recently. A poster mentioned having a pile of things that didn't fit. She would put them to the side and once she got a certain amount, donate them. I think it's a good idea, and probably what I will do. I think I will have a clothes basket to put them in and once it's full, bag them up and take them off. Either that or put them on the front porch for one of the groups who always calls requesting items... -

No disability for "elective surgery"
pik replied to lulabelle607's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you insurance through work is covering your WLS it seems you should also have some type of coverage. As others have said, I would talk to someone in HR about it. With my surgery, I had RNY and a hernia repair. That hernia was elective, I didn't have to, but I really did. It was bad. Are you having any other surgery at the same time as your WLS? -
I have had to cough and sneeze several times and it hurts big time. I just try to do a small cough, or as small as I can...

Death and sadness.
pik replied to LindafromFlorida's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The death in my life is no longer met with pain. I have lost both of my parents and my grandmother and a brother, all in my twenties. I am 40 now. During that time, I also lost two aunts and an uncle. I think of my parents and grandma all the time and I try to transfer my thoughts to good memories. Very often they come to me in my dreams and it is those mornings that I do not want to wake. They are so real and alive in my dreams, as though I had never lost them. -

liquid intake monitored after surgery in hospital?
pik replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
They monitored my urine output. I suppose they knew what all they brought me, but I really was not drinking much. I was putting out a lot due to the Fluid they gave me in an iv. -
I had surgery 3 days ago. can I sleep on my side?
pik replied to bearmcfly's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I can only sleep on my right side because the left side has a lot of pain. I am using a wedge to sleep on my back when I do. I lay up against a body pillow when I am on my side and it makes a big difference. -
Hey guys, 38 yo, just out of the hospital yesterday (7/25/14)
pik replied to SDBeachLaw's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congrats! I have thought of coffee a few times but am not getting enough Water in to be able to deal with caffeine right now. I suppose I could do a half a cup of decaf. I changed up how I drank it during my 2 week liquid diet and it sucked. Fat free creamer? Yuck. Glad you are doing well after your surgery!! -
I certainly came home with more weight than I brought with me to the hospital. To the tune of ten pounds. I lost the weight in three days or so and now I have lost 19 pounds since coming home a week ago. Now the gas from the surgery is what was really bad. I STILL have some of that! Not as much as I did, but I still do.

Today feels more like a burning pain than a ripping pain, so I guess that is a step up! -

pik replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not been doing that, for sure. I started stretching it out to every 5 hours, then every 7 hours, then only once or twice a day with Tylenol in between. I think I am going to give that up.....maybe I will feel better quicker. The second night I was in the hospital I asked my nurse for my pain and nausea medicine and it was an hour or two past due. He told me we were going to cycle through it. Could not believe it. -

Yes we can! I have been able to get the protein in for the most part but not the fluids. I did talk to the nutritionist today about it and she just told me to try my best. You are only three days out, I hope your pain eases quickly! I am laying here on my fiances recliner with a heating pad across my abdomen, seems to help. -

You know, I take es tylenol throughout the day. I did just take a dose of the pain medication, though. I just don't want to get hooked on that stuff!
