    Slow weight loss

I think you are doing great and the fact that you are also exercising is even better. Maybe this way you won't have all of that extra skin.

    Complications

I will be thinking positive thoughts and prayers for you! I really wish they would have done an endoscopy on me when I was in the hospital....
  3. Well if you flip through them, some have nothing on in the before picture and a thong on in the after.
  4. Does anyone else think it's weird that he takes pics of these women buck naked instead of a small bikini or thong where the genitals are not showing? Maybe I am an old fuddy duddy.
  5. They did not have me on antibiotics this time around, but had me on two types last time. There were 5 days between my discharge and second admit.
  6. No they haven't. They sent me home last night.

    July bypass

Mine was the same way. It felt like my body was ripping apart and after that stage it was a burning pain. I am at three weeks post op and finally the pain is not awful.
  8. Well, no endoscopy ordered but I see my surgeon on Thursday and we will discuss that then. I just had an ultrasound of my right leg because I was having some pain in it and they wanted to make sure there are no clots. The tech didn't see anything and said the results should be to the dr in 20 minutes. If everything is fine I can go home, and yay to that!
  9. Thank you everyone. I am still in the hospital and now I am dealing with an IV infiltrate. The dr will probably get here around 3pm if today is anything like yesterday. I am still having tenderness around the largest incision but I am also having some tenderness in the upper abdomen just under my chest in the middle. I have not exp that before, so I don't know what that is.

    I need an exercise partner

These fitbits seem neat but to me they are kind of expensive.....a hundred bucks?!?

    Complications

I am in the hospital right now from what you are describing. I had RNY on July 16th and this is my second time now going to the ER and both times being admitted. All of the vomiting has lent to me also having pancreatitis. I was having a hard time getting all of my fluids down and just this past Saturday one of my pills got stuck, and I had pains in the middle of my chest over it and started getting sick all day and finally going to the ER. Same thing happened last Saturday from some scrambled eggs. I am concerned there may be a stricture but the surgeon doesn't seem to think it is. The hospitalist from my internists group does seem concerned that it may be. I think I need an upper endoscopy but no one is ordering it. The surgeon says if thing continue to get stuck he will order it. So I have to wait for something to get stuck again and be in misery and go to the er for hours and so on and so forth.
  12. Well I am happy for you, but it is just a shame that people treat overweight people any different than a thin person. I am on another website where the anonymous posters fat shame people, say only rich girls with fancy purses are attractive, people who are beautiful on the outside and ugly on the inside are still the most beautiful people, etc, etc, etc.
  13. I don't find it a big deal to weigh myself every day. Some days I have lost 2 lbs, sometimes 1. Sometimes none. I just think about what I did the day before and what I should change about it and things normally work their way out.

    I need an exercise partner

Hi Kate...wondering what you can tell me about the fitbit. I have heard people talking about it here and there...
  15. I usually weigh myself every day....I haven't since Saturday because I've been in the hospital. I usually gain a few pounds while I am in the hospital because of all the fluids they pump into me.
  16. You know, I asked about the endoscopy and the surgeon I have been put under who was on call said I don't need it right now but he says that the upper gi I had last week was fine and I didn't need it. He said if things continue to get stuck then I should have it. A nurse just came in and I asked her about my lab results from this morning. My Lipase is up higher than it was before. I have no idea what is next...
  17. Well that is awful. I wouldn't appreciate any of that either. I never saw my surgeon after the surgery but he did call me and told me how things went. He had told my fiance' in person. All of those foods except for the juice are on my liquid diet for 2 weeks post op, which I have surpassed but still have to be on due to all of this stuff I am going through. I usually will call the dr on call if something is the matter but if I feel I need to be seen, I will go to the er. I was right both times and was admitted. Are there any other drs in the practice you can see? Something like this is life long. I did not use the first surgeon I met with. I didn't feel good about how he was treating me, and pushing me off onto other drs so I saw one of his partners and was happy with him. When I was admitted last week I did end up with that other surgeon as he was on call.... I will be thinking of and praying for you both. That is tough both of you having the surgery at the same time!
  18. What is this?!? The recovery from this surgery has been awful for me, I feel like all I do is come on here and complain. Any movement feels like someone is cutting me with a knife! Did/does anyone else have that? I can't wait to get to a place where I feel good about the surgery. I gained weight after the surgery due to the fluids, but I have lost it all and then some, 18 pounds. I guess that's a plus...
  19. Yep, it kind of is. I think their main concern is keeping me hydrated with iv fluids. They are letting me have clear liquids now, and the chicken broth tasted like what a wet dog smells like......ugh. I had my fiance' bring me some tea bags, so herbal tea for me.
  20. No. No one ever said that to me. The hospital is not giving me any type of Protein either. They didn't after my surgery or the last admit or this one.

    I need an exercise partner

I wish I were near you, because I am going to be looking for one also. Exercise is so much better and easier with a buddy! Good luck finding someone! =)
  22. I am in the hospital with pancreatitis right now also. I think hospitals have a base bariatric menu. Right now I am on Clear liquids only, but when I went home from the hospital after my surgery I was able to have things like unsweetened applesauce, greek yougurt no chunks 6 gr sugar, cream of wheat, sf pudding, Jello,Popsicle. Protein shakes... I have RNY so I don't know if it is any different, also all surgical groups are different.
  23. You know, just like everyone has said, they were never your friend. A true friend sticks with you through the thick and the thin (no pun intended.) I don't have very many friends to begin with. My fiance' is my best friend and he has stuck with me through everything. This is something that happens a lot. It happens with different things. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and belong to a group on facebook and I read time and time again how people have lost friends over the RA. You did this for yourself so you can live a healthy life. If they were your friends. they would be supportive of you and would be by your side. I actually have a friend that I feel I have actually become closer to since a little before the surgery. I think it is because she has also had the RNY. Maybe you should try and go to the group discussions with the people who have also had surgery. I would bet you would make some life long friends there..... I'm sorry this has happened to you...
  24. I saw both my internist and one of the surgeons from my group this morning. The surgeon doesn't seem concerned with the fact that things are getting stuck. I had an Upper GI a week ago and he said it showed no stricture but that things are probably tight for now due to the hernia surgery I had at the same time. As a patient, I think there is some kind of issue! He did say that if it continued that I should probably have an unpper endoscopy. I already think I need one but who am I? Thank everyone for all of your support!
