Relationships: I am not telling my extended family members about my surgery....
pik replied to 5comorbids's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Your kids are going to have to know in the end. Are you going to hide being in the hospital and recovering? The change in your eating patterns and all of that? -
I can't take the Protein drinks either, and I have not been able to take my Vitamins either. It has been all I can do to make sure I take my medication in the morning and at night.

I am still peeing, but very little. My Zofran calls for every 8 hours. I for sure do not want to be in the hospital a third time. I was on protonix and two other meds of those type before surgery and they had me stop those at 1 month out. Still on liquids. He said I could try some pureed but really, nothing feels right and everything makes me feel ill. Not fun at all. I know you have had it rough too. =(

I tried peppermint yesterday and then chamomile and it seemed like it made things just as bad. I am not sure my stomach is ever going to get used to this change. Just like everyday, I woke up with it..... =(

Yes. I told him last Thursday and then again this past Thursday. I am not getting very much Protein and he just wants to make sure I get some fluids in. He wanted me to have sf Gatorade. I have been tolerating that and maybe a couple of ounces of food a day. He knows... I make sure to pinch my skin to see if I am dehydrated and so far I'm not. He doesn't really care that I am not eating, he says that will come. My big thing is I am not really bringing any calories in.

I actually have both and it barely touches it. It is making me so that I really can't eat or drink. It is just awful. Then with all of that I get the dizziness and lightheadedness. =(

@@Nursemandyrn I was talking to my fiance' the other night about you and I told him I felt like for you, the surgery may have been a life saver. I guess it really was. I will continue to keep you and your family and your physicians in my prayers.

I used to be in Suffolk but not for some time. I think I have seen some in Va Beach and Hampton Roads post on here.

Broke down in tears today for a stupid ass reason

I get emotional as well, and I think it is all part of the surgery and the way we are changing. I think my nut even mentioned chemical changes due to the surgery. -
I am a month out so I am really not on pain killers.

when do you start losing weight
pik replied to MaureenS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am averaging 1-2 lbs a day, normally 1. My surgery was on 7-16, but I have also spent ten days in the hospital and gained 20 lbs of Fluid weight. Everyone is different, and there are the stalls, like another poster said. -
All of that sounds pretty normal to me as far as what I have read and gone through myself.....

They sell the PB2 at Target.

It is one of the big reasons.

Nope. I am a month out and I have difficulty watching Long Island Medium without crying. I don't feel depressed or anything, I just feel overly emotional.

not your usual protein shake question
pik replied to jtickle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sit there and are drinking all day long. Two oz per 15 minutes. I have not been able to do it, but others have... -
How about your jewelry (rings) after surgery?
pik replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure thing! I got mine at a store called Charming Charlies. -

Of course my children and my fiance know. I told my aunt and one of my sisters and they are the only ones in my family that should know. Let's get for real though, news spreads and I am sure they aren't the only ones who know. I think as long as you have a support system with your husband, you will be fine. My fiance took wonderful care of me and I could not have asked for more. Good luck! -
Juat had a letter about going to see a phycotherapist!
pik replied to londonlady243's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My letter stated that I was fine mentally to go forward with the surgery but that I may have a little hesitation. At that time, that was absolutely the case. -
This has happened to me twice and I was admitted into the hospital both times. My medication got stuck. You can try chewing a couple of papaya enzyme tablets that you can find at the Vitamin store. It helps to break down food. It never worked for me,but mine was medication. I had an upper gi which showed no stricture, thank goodness.

I take it every once in a while. I already had it for the chemo med I have to take every week. At this point it is pretty difficult for me and all the pills I have to take.....

not your usual protein shake question
pik replied to jtickle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. They MADE me buy all of those Bariatric Advantage things and I had a hard time with them before the surgery and even worse time after. I had been using the Premier Protein which I liked before surgery but now can't stand them. I think it is just a money making ploy. They say it's so they know exactly what you are taking, but I'm just not so sure about that. In between the shakes, Soup, bars and all of the Vitamins I paid $450.00. Money down the drain. -
I range about every five days and my surgeon doesn't like it. He wants me to get more fluids in.

I had my surgery on July 16 and things are finally trying to get better. I am still plagued with nausea and I can't eat or drink much due to it. I saw both my internist and surgeon today. My internist took me off of my High BP medication. My neurologist has me on it for migraines but she thinks it may be what is causing my dizziness and light headedness. I think she may be right, but I think it also may be coupled with me not eating enough. I have lost 23 pounds since surgery. Altogether I was in the hospital for ten days and on those days I did not lose, I actually gained 20 lbs from all of the Fluid. I imagine I would have lost a bit more. I am ok with my weight loss right now.

Four weeks out and I have the same issue except the water tastes bad also...
