Endoscopy tomorrow. S/P surgery July 16.
pik replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. I am hoping this makes things better. It has got too! I have been feeling worse than a dead dog! I know that strictures can and do happen. I am very understanding of that. Just not the fact that I had to be admitted into the hospital 2x after surgery and they never really listened to me. Sucks. -
8 Days PostOp and Feeling Horrible
pik replied to katykate94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on HBP meds for migraines and I had to come off of them. I was exp the same thing. The faintness and dizziness soon left. -
They found a stricture. I may have to have one or two more endoscopies to have it opened up more. I just hope that this will be the solution.

Endoscopy tomorrow. S/P surgery July 16.

Having had to go through it all this time it was way more than crazy. My health was really failing to the point of being on a feeding tube had become a possibility. -
I'm not sure why a hospital would have such an extensive and expensive plastic surgery for free....

Endoscopy tomorrow. S/P surgery July 16.
pik replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am home from my endoscopy. I am going to say this. I am very grateful that they were able to go in and dilate things and hopefully this is going to help. My dr said he did meet with some resistance and they could possibly have to go in one or two more times. I am ok with that. Here is my timeline: I had my surgery on July 16 and came home from the hospital on the 18th. On July 26th, my medication got stuck and I was vomiting all day and ended up admitted into the hospital. I had slight pancreatitis from that. I asked the dr if he thought I could have a stricture. No he says. Are you going to do an endoscopy. No he says. The Upper Gi shows no stricture. I leave on the 28th. Five days later on the 2nd of August it happens again. A pill gets caught. Throwing up all day, back in the er, admitted again, much worse pancreatitis. Do you think I have a stricture? No. They did an upper gi. No stricture. Are you sure you could see that on an upper gi. Yes. I am there for 4 days this time. I have had severe nausea and have been on liquids this whole time, with the inability to drink or eat much. I wake up from the endoscopy and the dr is telling me how things go and blah blah you had a stricture. Once again, grateful to have it dilated and understanding he may have to do it again but super super pissed that I have been going through all of this hell and me asking time and time again and asking for endoscopies to no avail and I have a fricken stricture. I am normally a mild mannered person but right now, with all of my declining health due to this I am so upset. My fiance took me to the endoscopy but right now he had to go take the patients info that I came home with and get mine. Did I say I was super pissed? Why can't doctors listen to patients and understand they know what their body is up to more than they do? I was already inpatient twice, why could they not have just done it? End of rant I guess. -
One of my incision areas is still bruised at almost 6 weeks out. They were all bruised in the beginning and the one that is left still is the upper right sided one.

How has your husband/wife/SO fared during your WLS journey?

Hi. I am not doing very well. I am going back in for an endoscopy tomorrow. I posted a thread in post surgery. Endoscopy tomorrow thread. I am hoping to get to the bottom of things and try to get well and feeling half way like a normal human being. =) -
Mine stayed like that for quite a while. As the weight comes off things are leveling out. I can feel the tightness of the muscles seemingly from the incisions.
-
I'm trying to see when your surgery was. When was it? Here recently I have had some tenderness but I thinkit was from where my pants were rubbing on that lowest left side incision. Of course I had issue with pain in the beginning, but I am 5 weeks out now...

Well not for me. Reglan is helping a bit. -
Chronic Nausea Syndrome?

Holding my hand up. Me! I can't tell you how many patients it occurs in, but it is an awful thing to endure. -
I would call the billing dept at the hospital and go from there.
-
I'm having issue with this as well. I go about 7 days and then after that I go and can't stop going for two days!
-
I have had such extreme nausea and it is only getting worse. I can't really eat, and can barely drink and it is bad. My concern is that I am going to end up back in the hospital again. I am taking two different nausea meds, Phenergan and Zofran. The only time I am not nauseous is, well, in my sleep. The very second I wake up it hits me. Due to not having any nutrition, I am getting pretty weak, and it is rough. Tomorrow will be five weeks post op and I just want to feel better or find a time machine to go back to the day before surgery. I am also not able to choke down my Vitamins.
-
No I am not, really. I went to the surgeon today and he is going to do an endoscopy on Monday. He said he may have to admit me and put an iv in that I can go home with and have fluids every night from home. He said he may have to go back in and redo the surgery, I may need a feeding tube. It was a lot to take in but the endoscopy is a start.
-
I take an anti-convulsant that is extended release and before the surgery it went all the way through, and I would see it on the other side...tmi. They switched me to non xr formula. Did they mention changing it once surgery started and have you never seen it go all the way before or only fter surgery?
-
I just got home from the dr. He is doing an ASAP endoscopy scheduled for Monday. I told him I wished he had done it the last time I was in the hospital. He said everything was moving through fine on the upper gi so he didn't feel like he had to at the time. I may have to be admitted and they would place a semi-permanent iv in my arm for me to receive fluids at night. They may have to go back in and rework the surgery. I hope not... They may have to place a feeding tube. I feel like I didn't sign up for any of this! One thing I will say is that we are all pretty sure that it is my hernia repair causing all of the issues, not the RNY. While I wish it wasn't happening, it kind of makes me feel good. The hernia repair was the surgery I had to have, and I did not have to have the RNY. So this probably would have happened either way. He said he is gonna have to open things up at the hernia repair. He thinks there is a bit of an issue there. Freeze your Protein shake so it is sort of slushy. That is working better for me. I think because of the nausea, everything is just vile. I told him I felt like I was gonna be one of those strange malnourished overweight people....
-
I will. I just got off the phone with the dietitian and she is giving me examples of things to try and they all just make my stomach turn. meat babyfood. Oh God. I did partially freeze about 3oz of a Protein shake just now and I got that down, so I guess that's good. I see my dr in an hour.
-
My dr does know what is going on. No vitamins either. Them make me pretty sick. I actually have an appointment with one of the partners today. I have been seeing them for the past 2 weeks, and then this week makes 3. It is not a good situation at all.
-
No I am not. Barely any protein and about 10 oz of water a day. Nausea since surgery 5 weeks ago...
-
I am not eating and barely drinking. Maybe ten oz of sf gatorade a day and a cheesestick. That is it. I really don't think the nausea is going away. The drs are not trying to find out where it is coming from, only trying to mask it. Last night I tried to eat a little bit and it got stuck for 6 hours. This is not fun at all.
-
Mine is not as long term as yours as I am only at 5 weeks, but I am also experiencing it. I have had it from the very beginning and it has not let up. I have been on Phenergan, Zofran, and now Reglan.
