Calling All Long Term Sleevers: How Much Food Does Your Stomach Hold Now?
kungfuaaron replied to Dooter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great post! As a 6'2" man I was concerned weither I wouldn't get enough callories with the standard size stomach that they leave you with. My Dr explained that because I am anatomical larger than a smaller- shorter person and as such I am left with a larger pouch. So this question my have some variables such as size and height. I am on soft foods and can eat a little over a cup at a meal with NO issues. -
Replacement for Dr. Aceves?
kungfuaaron replied to LighterSmarter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you trying to stay on a lower budget? I searched for a Mexico Surgeon/Center for several months. I was trying to Stay in the lower discounted arena. After contacting numerous surgery centers, having a hard time getting then to respond to phone calls and emails, reading reviews, and posts, or lack thereof. I decided to not let price be my main deciding factor. I went for a more well known and highly rated surgeon. I recommend to anyone to not just go for price...you get what you pay for. Like many others, I stayed at the Tijuana MX Marriott post surgery. One group that had surgery at one of the less expensive Centers were in their, "hospital" for two days and all had nausea, some vomited as well. NONE at my center had nausea, not one! I was amazed because I have had a serious problem with this in the past. We were all up and walking within two to three hours after surgery (Btw I was the first (: ). I felt great. I Only took prescription pain meds for 4 1/2 days; didn't even need Tylenol after that. Nothing to do with the doc, I did get thrush and was temporarily lactose intolerant. I highly recommend if you can afford it to aim a little higher to do so. Best wishes. -
I am scheduled for my sleeve May 28th. Just wanted some friends to associate with before and after the process. Let's do this thing! !!

May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
kungfuaaron replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes, pressure pushing up onto the diaphragm, usually caused by upper intestinal gas = chest pain. My stomach is also PISSED OFF! Is growling, gurgling, and shrieking. Today it settled a few times for around 10 min it was SOOO... nice. Have you tried gasX strips, they help break up upper intestinal gas, but do nothing in the lower intestine. Good times ahead. -
May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
kungfuaaron replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Bella I had a hyatal hernia fixed as well. I am assuming they fixed yours in the process? Yes, the chair works wonders. I was told after the swelling goes down no more pain and most likely no reflux. Which I have had for 5 plus years. But because of the swelling it feels like every swallow is going through a small hole. The good news great improvement this afternoon. My fingers crossed for all of us. -
May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
kungfuaaron replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday and especially last night were horrible! ! I have said in past post that I have had a lot of problems with intestinal gas (not to be confused with the CO2 cavity gas from the surgery). Yesterday morning my lower intestines were producing gas at an alarming rate, never befor seen by man. This progressed into gas plus the runs by early afternoon. Then the white stuff on my tongue started showing up and it started getting sore. "THRUSH" or a yeast infection in my mouth, caused by antibiotics. Seriously, an alarming amounts of farts, sh*ts, and a yeast infection in my mouth. I think it was one of my most miserable days in my life. So i was up untill 2AM suffering and knowing i had a 10am flight this morning. I was worried that a trip to the bathroom every 10min on the plane and the possibility of whoopsie was too risky. Off to the ER we went at 2AM. Some crushed up pills as well as some nasty tasting liquid meds for the thrush, Some really really nasty liquid Amodium AD, and some probiotic capsules. One hour of sleep and now we are at the airport waiting to fly home. No more antibiotics! So my Dr. had us on a probiotic before surgery for 2 weeks. Apparently my 15 million "live" super bugs were dead! Because they didn't do s**t for me. The gas in my lower intestines may also be caused by this bad flora mojo. If it happens for more than two more days then to the doctor to get some tests. That is it in a nutshell. -

Still gassy, walking a lot with low energy, relaxing by the pool. Still in MX untill Monday. I'm a little worried about the gas- it's terrible, Doc says it's normal. I also had a hyatal hernia fixed. If this is to last another week, that seems so far away!!! A little fire in the stomach once in a while. That's all folks! -

Go to surgery in the morning 6:15am. I'll post after. A little emotional, I am glad to have you guys. -
It will be okay. In a couple of weeks you'll be able to play with them. In a couple of months you'll look back saying, "best thing I've ever done", and many years from now you will be lucky you did this because you'll be around. You can do this! Take a deep breath and visualize the distant future and don't think too much about the next few days. Everything will be okay. I'll be praying for you, a quick and healthy recovery.

27's our thoughts and prayers are with you. Well talk to you soon. (:

Yes, we will be at the Marriott tomorrow through Sunday. Will you be staying there as well?

Have you started the pre - op diet? -
Lylabelle it is great for you to take the time to do this. Just wanted to let you know. I noticed that you are from Seattle. I am from Puyallup Washington, it's good to meet you here!

That concept, of being down 50-80lbs seems so surreal, but I got to admit that sounds awesome! I agree, I hope we all keep in touch it will make the touch and go of recovery easier. Sharing the experience of babysteps and knowing that we are not alone will make it go by quicker.

I'm so nervous that I have to pee at least every hour. I know this is TMI but I find it fascinating. Butterflies in my empty stomach constantly. I am blessed with a very supportive wife and kids. I don't know how some people can do this alone. My wife calms my worries, but they return.

I know what you mean! We have all decided to do this thing that is going to change our lives, make us healthy, and extend our lives, but surgery is scary! I am a big man not just overweight, but people feel safe around me and I can handle things without fear, with the exception of a bear attack or something like that. But, this thing we are doing puts fear into me because of the unknown. I have read hundreds of post with people saying even though it was hard, they would all do it again, with the exception of a small handful. Well let's all be the 100's! We can do this. We can suffer recovery together. I'm glad we have each other. Happy and scared all at the same time

I put new basemoulding and cased the doors in my whole downstairs yesterday. Let me tell you getting up and down from the floor and standing 100 of times when you are 100lbs. Overweight makes you REALLY sore!!!! The thing that sucks is we cannot have ibuprofen, BOO!!! I think we can take Tylenol any body know?
